I think that if Chris really wanted out him and his lawyer could file some sort of motion to waive the placement assistance. As has been suggested before, if it were a requirement on the convict as well as the commonwealth there would be major due process issues as they could hold him indefinitely.It's pretty crazy Chris just happened to be jailed at the exact time the legal system introduced this new measure (Created by his Lawyer no less) for people with mental health issues to be required to be housed for a month so they're not just kicked out on the street.
Although in practice it doesn't seem to be working out that way and instead it's seemingly trapped Chris in a Catch 22 situation.
I guess bureaucracy was the only thing able to trump the autism card.
What’s more likely is that it’s related to the autism deferral. Chris can avoid conviction on paper if he follows some terms they set for him which would probably include maintaining residence in supervised housing.
