Well, there are many reasons. First of all there was something called "Budapest Memorandum", during which Ukraine agreed to give up their nuclear arsenal for guarantees of safety from US, UK and russia. Guess which countries kept their promise. And enough about "Russian Simps", "alt-right" and other forms of name calling. Most Americans would still be raising question if were giving financial aid to Russia. Once again, this isn't our fight. The question still remains why we are making sacrifices for two very, very corrupt nations that have a myriad of social issues
Another reason is that US is biggest guarantee of safety around the world. Around hundred of countries have some sort of agreement with US regarding safety. Imagine what other allies would think, when US first invest into Ukraine and then give up on it. That would not be reassuring.
And lastly, because I can see you saying something like "Uh, the people outside US are not really human, we should not care if they go to war and kill one each other. Only America matters!". Well, the world is benefiting tremendously from being at peace, including You personally. The computer you write this post has semiconductors made in Taiwan. If China would take over Taiwan, do you think those computer would be cheaper? Gas you tank your car is from Saudi Arabia. Clothes are sewed in Bangladesh. US is importing even food. In 2021 US imported 166 billions of dollars worth of food, from all around the world, including even Europe and Ukraine.
US could make their own food, oil, maybe even semiconductors. But you know why it is importing such large quantities? Because it's cheaper. You are spending less on computers, on energy, on food, and on clothes because world is at peace and economies can trade with each other.
Well, russian state TV regularly broadcast threats to Poland and Baltic States and Germany and United Kingdom and Nordic Counties. Personally my favourite was when they threated to sink Great Britain with nuclear launch. And I remind you that all of this is broadcasted on state TV.Well, yeah, sorry to hear that, but this isn't the rest of the world's problems. I mean, has the USA learned nothing from Iraq. More importantly, I am not a big fan of how Zelensky derides other countries when he isn't given more money.
Looks like russia won't fight NATO not because the they don't want to, but because they are too weak to do so.
