A long while back, out of pure boredom and curiosity, I actually went and read as much of that Scientologist bullshit I could find. All I can say is it's better to watch the South Park episode about Xenu or whoever the fuck the space god shithead is because they at least cut out the fact it's literally all just inconceivably boring sci fi.
But that bastard Hubbard structured his religion of himself just like a cult - if they don't manipulate traumatized or the easily gullible into actually believing throwing money away hand over fist is going to actually bring about spiritual enlightenment, they guilt them into staying by pretty much holding them by the balls (probably literally, too). In truth, it's possibly one of the greatest ironies - Nintendo established the idea of handheld gaming with the Game Boy. Now, in an era of smartphone apps, they struggle to maintain the family focused trajectory of consoles, whereas PS4 and Xbox have become more dedicated mainsteam gamer machines for shooters or more bloody stuff.

A lot of times it comes down to exactly what you describe. It's not worth the hassle to be that specific. And it's not only the potential losses that the screaming idiots could cause, it's also the possibility of litigation. If they can say "We terminated her employment for violation of published company policy regarding moonlighting", then it is completely justified. If they specifically say they terminate her for "espousing views that do not conform with company values", it is possibly defendable, but leaves them open to a lawsuit. Even in at-will employment jurisdictions, employers can be held responsible for some things such as unemployment payments for a certain amount of time if an employee is terminated involuntarily without what is considered "proper cause"
There are also many employers that take public perception extremely seriously, and are not shy about using that as the reason for dismissal. For an extreme example, look at the various US Military services. If you go out and get drunk and rowdy, it's one thing. If you go out and get drunk and rowdy in uniform, you could be facing non-judicial punishment. Depending on the severity and your rank, consequences could be very severe, ranging from loss of half your pay and restricted to the military base for a couple of months to being kicked out completely.
As another example, Walt Disney World employs students from all over the world in their college program. These kids come over and work at Disney World for a while and get paid next to nothing other than room and board, generally representing their home countries, and gain college credits at the same time. I have personally seen kids removed from the program and quietly sent home for stopping at a convenience store and buying cigarettes while still in uniform and wearing the Disney name tag. Other violations include being out after curfew or having someone of the opposite sex in your (Disney provided) apartment after certain hours. Remember, these "kids" are college students, often in their 20's. Anything that could be construed as damaging to the Disney brand is squashed quickly.
tl'dr: They likely could say they fired her for making Nintento of America look bad, but corporations, especially "family friendly" ones need to protect that image. If they can do it while exposing themselves to a minimum of unnecessary bad PR or litigation, it is smarter to do it that way.

If there is truth to this I think it's related to the latest Fire Emblem. I think in the early pages in this thread someone said that the head of localization for it was donating money to someone very outspoken about the aspects of the Japanese version that were removed. Rapp was very obviously appealing to SJWs before the pedo paper got out so if she was leaking information it was to SJWs and it was about Fire Emblem. Presumably to tell them to quickly make as much noise as possible because they had already willingly removed everything "problematic" and it would be seen as a great "victory".
But of course we don't have any information so it could be something different, or even not true at all.
