really enjoying phil mocking the enemies, specifically pointing out how they aren't dangerous and are no threat to him, but then in the same breath starts frothing at the mouth if anyone asks why he doesn't turn up the difficulty.

really makes ya think

edit: HUGE UPDATE apparently that soup phil was boasting about, his stupid dumb bitch potato of a wife fucked it up, he said he went downstairs and it smelled and tasted like shit, so they're having left overs (doordash)

The above rant about gamers' legacy and the importance of being a cultural icon is dumb. Half the people currently in the streaming and games entertainment business actually don't even want to become a part of history and see it more as a job. Ironically, saying that these people "won't be remembered in a 100 years" is also a big doubt in my mind. Their lore might be lost in time, but a good chunk of them will be remembered "by proxy" anyway. As long as street fighter is still a thing in the future, people will most likely remember the best and worst players of these games. Even if people stop caring about Chris Chan, the Sonic franchise will keep going, and his meme of a life and Sonichu are going to get a mention. Such is the nature of internet meme culture. I can easily see Phil's "oh the camera's been on" moment being mentioned until 2100. The thing about Phis is that he does have a legacy it's just that it's a very small legacy of awfulness. He is struggling really hard to change it, but his gacha gin brain doesn't understand he should change himself instead of his image. Too late for him. Ngmi.
I partly disagree. A nation without a uniting culture has no glue and is not really a nation (I'm in USA my whole life, btw, so that is my perspective). The Legend of Bruce Lee will live on (Just like the Legend of Ip Man has lived on and Wong Fei-hung before him). The Legend of whoever is the best Marshall Law or Fei Long player in the early 21st century will not. I kind of lament this, as I wish Street Fighter was the same widespread mass-appeal ubiquitous uniting cultural juggernaut that it felt like it was in the early/mid 90's. I mean like every classmate boy I knew had a main in SF and/or MK. I think things are probably different these days.

Similarly, 'everyone' still knows Arnold Philsanigger, Mike Tyson, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Royce Gracie; but I can't even name the most recent Mr. Olympia, WWE Champ, UFC or boxing Champ. These are things that used to unite almost every different persuasion of person; but I think it's obvious they no longer have the same cultural gravity. I don't think this is really much up to debate, as Iron Mike used to pull insane numbers in the 80's. Furthermore, polarizing politics has turned some people off from pro team sports.

And with the member/poster here, of course let's not forget to include such uniting beacons of quality Americana (great music) such as Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia. If you ask someone who lived through the sixties, there has been no cultural movement since then that has captured such an energy.

Video gaming is generally less prestigious then these things, as these athletes are risking life and limb in a spectacle. These musicians are creating art live and in real time; their blood, sweat, and tears sometimes literally physically flying off them onto the audience (Flea used to have to superglue his thumb back together to get through a show sometimes). Perhaps as the boomers (the actual babyboomers, not the memes) die off, this will change, but that is yet to be seen. And as attention diffuses into this relatively new medium of video gaming, and the medium itself mutates with things like SBMM, Microtransactions, and Dynamic Difficulty; it's interesting to note that the most beloved FPS is the 2009 CoD MW2, and the most beloved fighting game is SF2 or MvC2 (maybe I am wrong about this).

This is kind of the point I was trying to make about fragmented culture and how it reminded me of the Tower of Babel story (I'm not a Christian or trying to proselytize btw, but the bible interests me), especially regarding internet communities and their memes. For example, the only person 'outside the vortex' I can talk to about DSP is my brother, and that is mostly in reference to narcissism and our shared upbringing. In a way memes connect me, but in another way it isolates/atomizes me.

Many modern "video games" are not even really video games; they are software programs designed to extract micro-transactions out of children. The only thing uniting DSP and his WWEC clanmates is that they are whaling. There is no intrinsic cultural value there, other than the dead-end culture of consumerism. Those jpegs are not even good, they are mid-tier art at best. The art in the X-Men comics I was into in the 90's was way better. Then again, I am old and out of touch, and this is just a shitpost at the end of the day.

I don't think DSP has a legacy. If he stops streaming, it will all wash away as if it never happened, pretty much over night. He has no students, protege, children, or institution/infrastructure to maintain anything he stood for. The only reason he remains relevant is because of constant high frequency of bombarding the internet with his "Nontent." Even on 'Day Ahf's' he feels the need to tweet to remind us he exists.

Once the saga ends, the past journey will no longer be relevant. It's the anticipation of future drama that keeps many (including me) watching. Fapping on the internet is not the spectacle; the spectacle is that he fapped and he's still going to show his face today (live, choppy, and in 720p). He's not even actually good/efficient at being a meme, he's just persistent.

I know Phil's channel is dying but he's killing it even faster with these walking sim games. Callisto is new and no one was really talking in his chat and without the myserious donator dropping that money the game could be considered a failure by Phil's streaming standards. And today GoW yet again ain't getting those whales to drop money, and of course Phil is stricken by the loneliness that his chat is yet again dead.

allegedly

Dave is still bitchig about the press disliking, The Callisto Protocoll, You have to think for yourself, fake reviewers, idiot press etc. Says the man who did not play the New Saints Row beacuse of what people said on twitter. Just shut it, Dave. Hypocrite to the bone.
Calling it, this game will end up being the next Scorn.

DSP's random discussion/rant about funk music yesterday(?) and how special he is because he's a WHITE MAN who BELIEVE IT OR NOT LISTENS TO FUNK is hilariously absurd. He even said "How many people listen to the funk station in GTA?" This mans world perception is so fucking distorted he thinks he's the only one who does anything he's doing. It makes it even funnier when it's a subject he knows nothing about (which is most subjects, to be fair) because he knows basically nothing about music, or even what music is popular.

What a clueless fucking rant. He called Earth, Wind & Fire a "precursor to funk" lmfao.
Funk originated in the fucking 60's for anybody who isn't a music autist, and Earth, Wind & Fire released their first record in 1971.
Yet another example of Fakefansyde Phil exposing himself while trying to pigsplain to his audience. :story:

Mr. "alotta peepul think funk is a joke, I don't, I actually take it seriously, it's high level music" Burnell sure doesn't ever listen to funk for such a huge fan.

Because this is his one and only reference to 'funk' at all:

"no i won't play warzone 2. Ask again and you're banned"
"
i'm already playing a multiplayer game. Modern Warfare 2"
"
Guys... please. It's obvious from the lack of support you guys don't like Modern Warfare Fun. So tell me what you want and I'll play it"
Amazing. It only took a few hours for a complete heelturn.

edit:
AHAHAHAHAHA HE ACTUALLY PLAYED IT WHAT A CUCK
