Fucking hell, release the patch as is and let the fans finish IdolNinja's work, or release the source code itself.
It's code for a 14 year old game made for a dead franchise, quit being a fucking jew with it. John Carmack released the DooM source code like a year post-release and DooM still sells today.

Hopefully the devs who worked on the best FPS nobody played, Overload, manage to escape from this Randy hell and make Overload 2.

But if they did that then they let the haters who fatally wounded their company win.

Ironically I'd say Gearbox when the absorbtion is concluded might be more likely to do it, since they can then sell the unfinished patch as is, force the fan mod to finish it to only work if you buy the patch, and make money without doing too much work since they only care about Borderlands.

I feel for the writers a little, they *really* wanted you to like these characters, which tells me they were most likely based around them and their friends, and this is one big, roleplaying experience, sorta

End result is an overdose of "Quirky" that turned into cringe, and overwhelmingly forced emotional moments. Sometimes both happening in the same scene. (Lmao its super duper important to get myself this rare children's meal toy!/...That's okay, let's give all of these burgers to the children at the orphanage i grew up in...)

Writer here was penning an inside adventure to people who were outside, and it does give me the feels, from what ive seen, they really love these characters (or more likely, the people theyre based on) but in trying to introduce them to the public they forgot they were writing for an audience outside their circle

Snickerdoodle is the best character in the game

doubt the characters really exists, much more likely the writers went with certain concepts they liked and wanted to do, but then went full HAM instead of going "wait, are those interesting characters people want to see their story unfold?". I can't blame (bad) writers falling into the trap - happens all the time -, I blame the people in charge not nipping that shit in the bud, either because they were fully onboard, equally incompetent or afraid to speak out.

as has been pointed out more than once now, it's not fucking fanfiction or a college essay, it's a multi-million dollar product that needs to satisfy some demand to recoup investments and make a profit, there are completely different expectations what the end product should and needs to be. anyone missing this needs to get the fuck out, else you end up with modern western videogames. there's zero excuse for this.

Unfortunately, most of modern western properties (if not all) are basically worse than a college essay (in fact, most of borderline middle school essays, if anything else).

Honestly nobody should be surprised it ended up like it did. The first four saints row games were heavily influenced by contemporary cultural trends.
Original saints row and saints row 2 came out at a time where the media perception towards gangster culture was tattooed black criminals with baggy pants and shitty trigger discipline. By the time saints row 3 came out black gangster culture had been commodified as a less gritty and more luxury based vision with over the top displays of wealth and violence, you had the first trailer playing a song by kanye west and the women dressing like Hollywood bimbos. Then saints row 4 comes out just as super hero movies begin to dominate the cinema screen.

Like what exactly was this new saints row going to be about? Like what the fuck is Kanye up to these days anyhow?...

Oh...
Saints row 2 (20XX) will be about creating the 4th Reich.

Would be genuinely a better representation of rebelling against the system than whatever the reboot was about
The reboot would have been pretty cool if it was intentionally about becoming the system, rather than accidentally and without any awareness of the fact.

I still crack up at the "oh but we trained the Saints and gave them info" exchange coming hot on the heels of whining about CEOs and managers taking a cut from the Working Man's Labour. Hell, even the prologue painting the group as hard done by students unable to meet rent falls flat:

The PC is already shown to be involved in lucrative crime opportunities even prior to their enlistment with a wealthy PMC. They even had the money to buy literally thousands of knives in a depression fuelled binge after getting fired.

The anti-capitalist DJ is pulling in money from his gigs, his criminal group and clearly has cash to burn on tattoos, waffles, expensive gyms and exotic cooking ingredients.

Urkel is apparently a financial genius who can single handedly play the stock market, and launders the illicit gains of his friends.

The Latinxxxxxx is a fully qualified mechanic who is in deep with a group that requires her skills 24/7, providing her with the funds to become an art history professor, and purchase said art in the first place.

theyre very much the working class that only exists in a yuppie's mind of what the working class is.

you forgot to mention their newest borderlands game New tales from the borderlands has also been disaster got horrible reviews not sure about the sales. So having gearbox and volition together seems perfect for them
I watched a playthrough of New Tales and it is uncanny how similar it is to Saints Woke in tone and plot, right down to the awkward sitcom dialogue and entrepreneurial setup. The characters have the same obsession with frozen yogurt that SR's cast does with waffle irons.

So apparently Gearbox is a perfect fit for Nu-Volition.

Don’t let this post distract you from the fact that even with all of the embarrassing and absurd decisions that were made for this new Saints Row game, it still managed to not get a single nomination for The Game Awards 2022.

That has to sting, even for people that don’t care for mainstream award shows like that.
