I obviously never meant to even imply that SBR takes place in the same universe as the original timeline of the of the first 6 Jojo parts... It obviously doesn't. I thought I explicitly said that, but here we are.

But can you please elaborate on why you said that that Jotaro's name probably changed? Why would it have?
Sure, Pucci never existed now, so now there doesn't need to be a Jolyne anymore... but if I understand the story correctly, Dio still did. I think everything that we saw *onscreen*, up until Stone Ocean still happened the exact same way. And obviously with no Pucci, some stuff changed. I'll be the first to admit, I'm still confused right now.

Point is, nothing matters... Yay!
Oh I didn't mean you believed that, it's just a very common misconception that the ending of Part 6 leads to Part 7 which yeah it doesn't happen. Sorry for the confusion.

I'd probably say his name changed only because he died during Made in Heaven along with everyone else that isn't Emporio. Jotaro would still have the same life, it's just his first name would be a bit different as there would be a replacement Jotaro to fill the gap of where Jotaro was since his soul was destroyed due to Pucci's shenanigans. But yeah with Made in Heaven, Parts 1-5 still happened the same way. And the consequences of the end is Pucci is removed from existance which would lead to everyone having better lives since their fates were intertwined to meet up to stop him. Basically Fate is a really powerful force in Jojo and is very prominent here. Part 5 also is prominent with it as well with Sleeping Slaves and King Crimson.

I've had to explain this a bit but Irene is a callback to one of his first female characters. It also represents that Joylene isn't Jojo, so the bizarre adventures are over, and there's finally peace for Jonathan and his decendants.

Everything happened the exact same way, yes, except Pucci ceases to exist. After part 5, Jotaro can focus on his career and being a father. He doesn't need to be absent and fighting stands.

Basically part six shifts reality to give Jonathan's family peace after all the shit they went through. Part 6 represents that journey to peace and what it costs. Which is why the ending is a lot better than people give it credit for. Because even if they won, shit woild still be fucked. But now all of that is gone and the characters get a measure of peace.

I still love the King Crimson and Soft Machine arcs

What are your guys favorite arcs, my favorite has to be Bohemian Rhapsody simply for the fact it's just the Dimensional Merge and, the fact the issue just resolves itself by Weather creating his own Original Character, though DIO's world and Crazy Diamond is Unbreakable are close seconds to me as well
I'll list my favorite arcs per part, 3 at most

Part 1: Fire and Ice, Jonathon and Dio
Part 2: The Coliseum Fight and Ultimate Kars
Part 3: DIO's World, D'arby Elder Fight, Vanilla Ice
Part 4: Sheer Heart Attack, Bites the Dust, Crazy Diamond is Unbreakable
Part 5: King Crimson vs Metallic, Green Day & Oasis, Mystery of King Crimson
Part 6: Made in Heaven, Under World, Pucci Swamp Battle
Part 7: Love Train, Civil War, True Man's World
Part 8: Vitamin C and Killer Queen, Every Day is a Summer Vacation, Ozon Baby's Pressure

Honestly Parts 3 - 8 have so many good arcs that I was going to put much more but wanted to limit myself

Joseph vs Wamuu and Jolyne vs C-moon are two arcs that consistently stay with me. Joseph vs Wamuu is just peak Jojo, with the shit Joseph pulls to outplay Wamuu and the fucking diagrams Araki draws to explain what’s going on. Wamuu is also my favorite pillar man and I genuinely tears up a little when Joseph sends him to the afterlife. It’s the perfect combination of ridiculous over-the-top action with some actual heart. Jolyne vs C-moon I love for the reason that I totally called her winning move of turning her body into a mobius strip to counter C-moon’s inverting punch before it happened, which is honestly kinda refreshing given how often characters will just pull random powers out of their ass to beat the enemy. Jolyne’s stand really lent itself to creative logical applications and I think this was the best use of it. It’s also helped by the fact that most of the fights in Part 6 honestly kinda sucked.

To be honest, at first I thought that Jolyne being renamed "Irene" was a reference to Jonathan's wife... Jolyne's uh... Great great great grandmother, (I think...) but I guess they're spelled differently (Not gonna lie, before I looked it up, I honestly thought her name was Irena, instead of Erina), and yeah I recently also found out that Irene is actually a reference to an entirely different character in one of Araki's other mangas...

Not gonna lie though, that's a hell of a lot dumber than if Irene was just named after one of her non-Jojo ancestors. Also, I haven't actually finished Stone Ocean yet. I started re-watching from the beginning, just so the rest of it would be fresh when I saw it to the end and and I'm partway part 3 now. I did sadly spoiler some it for myself though -_-.

D'arby the Elder fight is honestly the most intense fight in the series yet not a single punch is thrown.

Oh yeah, I’m also gonna have to throw in the Killer Queen reveal arc. When Kira is hiding under some boxes in the break room while Josuke and co. are eating right next to him, and he’s just trying to find a way to retrieve the hand, that’s probably one of the most tense/suspenseful moments in the anime for me, like I totally felt his desperation.

Oh yeah that was also really good, especially because you'd think he could just be a powerless serial killer.

I'm relatively new to this fandom, but I'm curious, how do people generally view part 4? I personally wasn't the biggest fan of it at first.

But I like it a lot better now.

its my second favorite part next to part 7. the idea of living in a small town full of stand users was great and most of them being kids on a powertrip. helps that jouske is one of the better jojos and Kira being a good villain.

Part 4 is usually one of the higher ranked parts alongside Part 7

Personally for me my favorite part usually shuffles between 4, 6, and 7

I used to think it was boring, but now I consider it to be one of my favorite parts. The slice of life aspects felt fresh to the series.

My favorite moments were probably Koichi vs. Yukako (I like how Araki tried to deconstruct the moe trope but then ended up creating a new one) the episode where they eat at the Italian restaurant, and Killer Queen's reveal.

Araki revealed the first only piece of information about Part 9 which is that the Jojo will be related to the Joseph Joestar who appeared at the end of Jojolion

EDIT: Can't believe this thread is 89 pages old
Not too surprising all things considered, it doesn’t make much sense why else he’d introduce this throwaway character in the very last chapter if he didn’t plan on doing something with him.

Diamond is Unbreakable is general considered one of the best parts alongside Battle Tendency, Vento Aureo, and Steel Ball Run. But for me I'd say it's my all time favorite, the characters are enjoyable, the villain is consistently considered the best one for his ruthlessness and reservedness. easily a 9/10.

I wouldn't really put Part 1 in arc's but still:

Part 1: The boat
Part 2: The coliseum battle/finale in general
Part 3: D'Arby the Elder fight (to me this is the first time in Part 3 where Jotaro actually becomes a good lead and wins without just brute forcing his way through things)
Part 4: Bites the Dust (Kira is my favorite character in the franchise)
Part 5: Green Day and Oasis
Part 6: The finale (I love how the final fight boils down to everyone using the Joestar family secret technique against Pucci)
Part 7: True Man's World

And I haven't read Part 8 yet.

Thinking about it more, I think the problem with the last third is that binging it reduces the impact since you don't have time to anticipate or theorize what's going to happen, which does a lot to make the final bosses more memorable.

Also Kira is good for being a villain with comparatively very low stakes, it makes the story a lot more personal. He also gets a ton of screen time and memorable moments. The closest villain to it is part 1 Dio and Pucci.

Is anybody else scared to death for the SBR anime if they ever decide to do it? DP isn't an awful studio and they're probably the best to handle jojo, but I just don't think they could do Araki's art in that part proper justice. Also there would probably be horse CGI out the ass.

As for the third part of the Part 6 anime, I have been worrying about how they were going to do Bohemian Rhapsody and the finale for the better part of a decade and I'm so glad that they delivered on it so well. No What a Wonderful World though, it would've made this my favorite adapted part of JoJo.
