Mega Rad Gun Thread

GU
Their ideas came from somewhere, starting out small until it became the freakshow it is today. Ironically me and my revolver are considered underkill by modern standards lol. And fortunately more people in the past two years have bought guns than the 4 before, along with the Supreme Court ruling, so hopefully this stays a cartoon.
Gun control history is very funny. I hope C&Rsenal gets that series started he wants to do where he kind of goes back and covers the origins of a lot of this stuff.

I'll go ahead and ask this question here. Got a zpapm70 this year. It's my first real rifle in my first gun year. Even though people complain about yugo compatability, this fucker is solid. My problem is maintaining a clear sight picture. Is it normal to have such a hard time aiming an ak? I've recently nail polished the post to be white, but I'm kinda cheesed off how difficult it is to aim than all my other guns. I'm taking better shots at 25 yards with a heritage rough rider. Should I replace the front post with a "high viz" option or is it perfectly acceptable to just get a prism and a mount and call it a day? I'm not averse to practice but 7.62x39mm ain't cheap and I can't buy bulk online cuz I live in a crime ridden shithole where it will be stolen and then they'll know what I have in the house.

It may be a practice issue, but it could also be eyesight related. Make sure you're getting a proper cheekweld against the stock. I'm left eye dominant and right handed, so for me, it also helps to turn my head to the side a bit more so that my left eye is basically perpendicular to the point of aim, otherwise it wants to take over. Maybe give it a try and see if it helps? An optic with something like this as a backup may be a good option for you, if you can't find a way to make it work. As for ammo, just buy from Buckinghorse Outpost or some other vendor that requires a signature upon delivery.

I have similar issues with AK's. I believe it has to do with the rear sight being so far forward. I played around with a red dot on a side rail mount and that helped a little. Ended up deciding that while I love the look of an AK, for me AR's are easier to hit with and I can get a lot more value for ammo. I'm not saying ar's are better for everyone but their better for me.

I have a love/hate relationship woth guntuber in that its cool theyre getting so many people into guns and redpilling them on the feds and gun control, nothing im trying to buy is ever in fucking stock. Had to go to tacswap to find the surefire muzzle brake I wanted, who knows when I'll be able to locate a DD RIS II

I'm left eye dominant and right handed with astigmatism, so this makes perfect sense. With both eyes open, I'm hard wired to use my left eye and I lose my picture. I love the rifle, it seems like it's gassed just right and the feeling of dumping a mag into garbage with it is unparalleled. I might just go with an optic, as using one on my pistol has made it much easier for me to refine my trigger control and focus on the technique. It's been my goal to have a prism or something on it since I got it, but I feel like I'd be giving up too soon if I don't feel confident with irons.

I know a few guys in your situation, if an optic is what it takes to make it comfortable to shoot, that's nothing to be ashamed of, and in fact it'll help extend the effective range of the 7.62x39mm cartridge.

I feel that. Even with Guns and Ammo with my Franchi Momentum .300 Winchester Magnum, when it first came out, I had to order it in. Now I'm glad I did, but when reviewers get something that isn't fully mainstream, like a new glock, expect to search and possibly order. That includes all reviewers, magazines included.

On a side tangent, 300 Winchester Magnum, while a lot of power, is expensive and a lot of gun. Don't be like me, start out in the bolt action scene with something like 308 or if you want something spicier but still common, 30-06, so you can raid your local Wal-Mart for all its worth. If you do decide to start out with a Magnum, learn how to shoulder properly or you will feel like a slab of meat in the Rocky movies. As a question, do you or does anyone here own a bolt action?

they are the same thing but .308 is shorter
30-06 will get it going faster for the same weight projectile, kick harder, it's considered the bare minimum for Elk in my area. Nor saying that you can't kill an elk with a 308, you can, but 30-06 has it on ft-lbs of force. 6.5mm projectiles are interesting on elk, smaller than a 30 cal, but with a shit ton of penetration. 308 is a middle ground in my eyes, which is partially bias I admit, but from what I've shot of it and what I've read, it's more of a deer/black bear round, that can go higher with varying reliability.

Indeed, a noted quirk with AK's, they put that sight half way up the rifle compared to a AR. Even with something like a SKS with a longer barrel and thus, longer sight radius, you still have the notch in the back to deal with, which has pros and cons. Personally I find a notch faster to aim with than a peep sight, but a peep gives a better picture.

Just a reminder to Americans ITT to never take what you have for granted, and to fight against gun control in whatever ways you can. Biden could easily put forward some insane gun control legislation and he has stated he wants to ban semi-autos, as I'm sure many of you know.

I'm in the post-national shithole known as Canada and the retard in charge (Trudeau) is pushing a law that will not just ban my precious SKS but also a shitload of bolt actions and shotguns if they look scary enough or an RCMP glowie didn't like them for some reason (guns like the Lee Enfield mk5, some single shot rifles for some retarded reason, etc.). This is insane overreach and a crime imo, but there's no chance it doesn't pass despite how much people hate the new law.

Trust me, we know. Seeing Canada fall breaks my heart. And you guys tried fighting back with the trucker convoy against all this crap, mass defiance, but it wasn't enough. Here, in the US, ill say this much, in the last two months, more Americans have bought guns than they have in a long time. Including me. I went from just my 300 win mag bolt action in 2019, to now 3 and counting, with a Chinese SKS and a used S&W Model 36 revolver joining my collection, along with a horde of ammo, because of both the riots and Biden scaring the hell out of me, putting me in the mindset of " if they're gonna ban them, I might as well be part of the club". Luckily we've gotten some wins in the Supreme Court; Biden can scream, pass laws, but things are getting shot down as we speak. Are you planning on moving because of all that shit?

I considered moving but I have too many family roots in the area and it would be a pain, I love guns but living without semi autos is probably just something I'm going to have to live with. I'm close to the border with Maine but it's not really worth the hastle and who's to say the democrats won't win big in the coming decade and put forward insane gun laws in a few years anyways.

The sad part is, right before Justo got in gun laws here were laid back compared to most of the world and you could own sawed off shotguns, pistols (with a restricted license) short barrel rifles, etc. even some guns you can't own in the states like Chinese imports. The last Conservative candidate literally lost the election because the media tried to guilt trip him on his pro-gun stance so he flipflopped and lost hundreds of thousands of votes to the minuscule far-right party and threw the election by splitting the vote. recently one of the top goalies in hockey history Carey Price spoke up against the coming bill but the media cowed him into submission by mentioning an incel school shooting that happened like 3 decades ago. Almost all gun crimes, including the last mass shooting in the country are committed by guns smuggled from the US so these retarded laws will accomplish nothing asides from making anti-gun suburban soccer moms smug and depriving hundreds of thousands of people of their own property.

Banning guns in Canada is stupid, because like you said, they just get smuggled over. We have the same problems with soccer moms/karens here, where it's always " think of the children " even though guns save way more lives than they take. As for our gun rights going away soon... fat chance. 2020 shook the hell out of us. Gun sales soared. They could pass a buyback bill- no one I know would do it. That law is unenforceable. We have a strong gun culture here, now more than ever. If you ever change your mind, research the state you want to move to, there's plenty with solid laws

Off the shelf loadings between the calibers use the same amount of powder and the same projectiles. Barrel length and action being the same your velocities will be within standard deviation. Common belief is that because .308 has a shorter case that it must be less effective - in actuality, .30-06 is not packed with powder, all that empty space is eliminated in the move to .308.
Handloaders could opt for .30-06 for increased case capacity but they have much better options when it comes to that.

I don't care.
