yeah when they're raiding each other, is a normal thing on /k/ to be raided by /pol/ because of /k/'s stance on and talking about the ukraine war (who would've guessed the military weapons board would take interest in the war), or when /pol/ raids /his/ and /int/ with shitty bait threads or porn threads, Oh I almost forgot /lgbt/ gets raided by every other board.

It got raided by /qa/ too before /qa/ which was the last good board on the site, got shoahed.

That's pretty much bullshit although the composition was a lot different. There were indeed more shitlibs there although they were usually about as radical and "politically incorrect" as the right wingers, who were more a blend of ancaps/lolberts. More of the racism was at least partly ironic. You would also never have seen unironic deadpan support of a major political candidate like Trump, although /pol/ would have obviously liked him (by and large) more than the Democrat.

It started morphing when stuff like sincerely supporting politicians like Ron Paul became normal, sort of like that "Old Anonymous vs. New Anonymous" meme.

Also I'm talking more end-stage /pol/ than the current shambling corpse operating under that name, which has gone so far off the rails that really the culture has been shoahed. It doesn't exist in any form resembling its former self.

Timeline is off here, the Ron Paul thing happened before /pol/ even existed, and in fact before its predecessor /new/ existed. Back when /pol/ type threads were created on /b/, many/most of the userbase were libertarian types like alot of the pre social media internet so the Paul support was completely sincere if hopeless. I think the Trump support started off that way too until they realized he could win. But then much of /pol/ got bored by him almost right after he won because like you and others said, many of them now are just 'against the current thing'.

But even the old /b/ was basically racist, if half ironically (look at many of the old memes from the late aughts). But you couldn't be too deadpan about it, like unironically pushing Hitlerite shit (memes like the hit Mountain Dew flavor Hitler Did Nothing Wrong were OK though).

I think new-4chan got shit up by the same forces that ruined what was left of free speech after 2016. The ruling class came to see places like 4chan as a threat (an imagined one) and the solution was to flood the zone with nonsense, either shill or bait-threads, something the jannies are way too tolerant of (and used to get slapped down quickly on old chan unless you were very subtle).

I'd say that depends on more of what you're interested in. I mean we have to remember that there are around 75 different boards and thus 75 different topics to talk about. Using myself as an example, I'm a frequent /lit/ user, and I'm entertained by some of the discussions that happen on there from time to time. Same goes for /his/.
