I remember when he first broke out on the scene around the time of The Dark Knight. It was so outrageously obvious that, at least back then, his voice, mannerisms and content were entirely inspired by Heath Ledger's Joker performance.

This thread actually reminded me of him, as I had completely forgot about him. The last controversy I was aware of was when his video of himself pouring hot candle wax on his balls leaked somehow.

Here's some past videos to support my claim that TJ's early online persona was entirely Ledger inspired.

TJ in makeup to make him look like a deviant homosexual serial killer whilst talking about The Joker.

TJ playing pretend that he's Heath Ledger's Joker in his mother's cellar for some reason. Literally looks like a VHS video that a deranged Bjork fan would make.

Some more Joker pretend while he has a Dark Knight poster hanging on the wall above his laptop.

Here he is raging over The Joker looking different (than how he views himself) and professing his love for the character.

There's one I wish I could find where he thinks he's bucking the system by giving a tired anti-Christianity pseudo intellectual speech while standing next to his childhood bedroom door with a Heath Ledger Joker poster on it. His hair is very similar to Ledger's (but with a greater receding hairline), and he is straightup copying Ledger's mannerisms (hunch back, tilted head) and speech patterns. Wish I could see it again. lol

There are some other videos that are vague memories too, but you get the idea.

So I actually took the time to look through TJ's old videos and the very first video in which he explicitly mentions social justice warriors by name was uploaded May 4th of 2015. This is nearly an entire year after Gamergate happened and people like Sargon of Akkad had shat out dozens of videos on the subject. You didn't invent shit TJ you bandwagoned like everyone else.
That's a bit unfair IMO.
The YT anti-social justice content is much older, and the terms like SJW crystalized later. TJ has made videos on Anita Sarkeesian, feminism, otherkin and religious nerds way before that, and most of them were quite negative and in a harsh mocking tone.
I'm not giving him credit for originating this, but he was on the "bandwagon" years earlier when there was basically nothing to gain from it other than some notoriety and clicks.
Same goes for Thunderf00t, who has (if he didn't delete) dozens of early 2010s vids on feminism, socjus, Elevatorgate and more.
Back then there was no conservatism infiltration. These were all liberal infights - one side that wanted progressive grievance politics for minority and marginalized groups, and the other side of colorblind, egalitarian liberals that felt everything should be mocked and deconstructed if deemed irrational.
With Gamergate, came conservative "infiltration", and an uneasy alliance of memesters, shitposters, anti-SJW libs, conservatives and alt-right/reactionaries was created. With the alt-right, the fight around racial categories and "realism" manifested as a wedge, and the liberals had no answer, most of them jumped ship when the racial stuff grew in intensity, because race and after it the inevitable JQ were too much of a taboo and it was impossible to actually have discussions and debates around these subjects.
This is roughly the history of the early reaction against progressivism online.
I feel this is worth some serious effortposts. Maybe.

time to get autistic.
This started way before Social Justice Warriors were even a codified thing. Youtube atheists were growing in number around 2008 as they picked fights with crazy religious people, and TJ Was part of that, and TJ quickly became one of the biggest names in youtube atheism because of his eccentricities and aggressive persona. worth noting that TJ was already picking fights with feminists at this point, 2 years before sargon even made his youtube account.
Around 2011 was the proverbial golden age of youtube atheism as a community grew forth. Bible Reloaded, Syeten atheist, darkmatter, The atheist experience, and also sargon of akkad, the list goes on. raking in hundreds of thousands of viewers per video, which was fucking massive back then.

But TJ was already picking fights with feminists and misandrists, because his shtick was always picking fights with any group of people he found to be irrational from his perspective.

I dont know how to check the growth of a video over the years, but this video had a million views back when a million views were still a big deal.

around 2012 you saw the creation of atheism+ and other atheist organizations and movements, and with that, the slow filtration of identity politics in the form of feminism. It didnt take long before the atheism movement sort of split as feminists do what they tend to do best, which is pick fights with everyone. People like TJ were, obviously, not a big darling being that he was not politically correct and was already pissing in the feminist cereal.

whilst 2015 might be his first mention of sjws, he had always had his cannons aimed at the socjus, before the socjus even really existed. Though around 2015-2016 other voices quickly outpaced him, so its easy to forget how big of a name he was back in the early days. Though The Drunken Peasants Podcast was still one of the largest podcasts in the skeptics community unless im mistaken, and pretty much every major figure of the gamergate/skeptic/whatever showed up on it once or twice through their career.

I mean, there is a fucking reason TJ has been on Joe Rogan twice.

Starting the long sordid and epic tale of Youtube atheism by jumping straight to 2014-2015 is like starting the LOTR trilogy by going immediatly to the end of the second movie.

This is 100% true. You might not believe it by watching him today, but TJ 100% trailblazed this kind of content and was extremely relevant in the early days of the Anti-SJW movement. There's a reason why so many of us here are disappointed former fans.

Hell Milo's entire grift of being the darling of the Right wing / Alt lite was tarnished from him showing up on the Drunken Peasants.

I think the start of the beginning of the end for the TJ that fans remember was when he teamed up with Paul's Ego, there was a slow shift in TJ after Paul went from an occasional guest to laugh at Brett to a full time member of the peasants.

Paul also became an a-logging faggot. Hell, I'll admit that a lot of his Brett Keane stuff was pretty funny, but he started to misplace his association with Brett as a resource of comedy and more of a way of trying to establish an ethos around him and Brett like hero and villain. Some of the stuff he said, despite Brett Keane being Brett, was a bit uncalled for.
There were times he went after Brett for making videos about HappyCabbie, who while not outright proven, is still pretty much seen as a grooming predator by anyone who remembers him. He also really did go after his family to the point the whole "stop attacking my family" meme started becoming a little accurate. I'm sorry, but repeatedly making fun of your enemies' kids for having Hydrocephalus kind of makes you a complete piece of shit that needs an ass kicking.
He justified all of this anger by saying he betrayed and backstabbed most of the people closest to him. While this is true, saying that when you're doing a show with The Amazing Autist (who reached his height of motherfuckery when you were on a show with him) is a bit rich.
Yeah the song parodies and Brett impersonations were really funny, but jesus he started to act like an angry ex after a bit.

Amazing how the people comprising a podcast talking about religion creating morally bankrupt people and having ruined society are either groomers (Ben and TJ), actually autistic (Scotty), or bitterly suicidal (Paul) drug addicts who haven't had jobs in the past 7 years.

Kaiser Scotty teaming up with Drunken Surfer as Surfer's newest live in roommate would be pretty kino. Surfer kind of reminds me of a younger Scotty.

Yeah, don't even get me started on Paul's constant simping for environmental extremism, or his romanticized view of mental illness.

The whole Brett thing should've been put to bed after the original bit with Brett and his retards went onto the DPP to talk to TJ and co. (it was a low 20s numbered podcast) Or at the very least they should've left it to a once in a blue moon sort of deal rather than it slowly take over the entire podcast. As it took over more of the podcast, they had to keep digging for more content of Brett's to laugh at, which is where it started to dig more into Paul's personal hatred of Brett and less of just laughing at a lolcow. If they had left it to an occasional thing, then they wouldn't have run out of things to laugh at so quick, like games you love. It also made their guests kind of awkward when they would devote time to bagging on Brett and guests like say Sargon of Akkad would have no idea WTF was going on since Brett had been an irrelevant nobody for so long in YouTube terms.

Ultimately the best content mocking Brett like the parodies and songs were nothing to do with the DP members themselves, it was made by other YouTubers or fans. Brett himself also did point out the irony of the peasants being morally bankrupt druggies being the ones to judge him, and he was right, despite he himself being an unemployable wretch living off the state. I guess a broken clock is right occasionally after all.

Paul is a sad example. I still can't fathom what kind of mental illness can turn an emotionally unstable but still supremely entertaining man into the fat whiny faggot we know today. Or perhaps the Kirks do corrupt everything they hook their tendrils into long enough. Perhaps Ben was the lucky one.
The meme used to be "at least I'm not Brett Keane" but it kind of implies more to the DP cast now, which is terrifying.
How is Brett doing nowadays? It's almost weird to think about how Brett is probably happier now than TJ.
A pig in shit will always be happy.

Didn't Paul get a divorce shortly after the DP breakup? Maybe that's why.
