Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Gen 5 has some really good designs and some that are weird, bland or straight up ugly.
But c'mon you have Hydreigon, Excadrill, Scolipede, Chandelure, Cofagrigus, Serperior, Ferrothorn and many more hits.
It's also the first gen that finally payed the bug type some well-deserved respect, after the necessary move update in form of X-Scissor and U-Turn from gen 4 of course.

Ghost types in general are one of the types with more fleshed out designs but in later gens they are not as flavorful as the ghosts from gen 3 to 6, while the fairies are getting more sinister every gen after their debute (from boring things like Aromatisse to Mimikyu, Grimmsnarl and Hatterene)
Speaking of Bug-types, Gen 5 gave us Volcarona too. Them and Scolipede actually felt like usable bugs. I do like some of the weirder ones like Sigilyph and Cryogonal.

Meh Aromatisse. Could've been a cool Dark/Fairy plague doctor. I do like the direction they were going with Fairies becoming more evil/demonic. That's why Grimmsnarl and Hatterene ended up being some of my faves from Gen 8; Grimmsnarl defies the "cutesy" aesthetic Fairy typically has with his demonic appearance and Hatterene will beat the shit outta you, if not outright kill you. I do like some of the cute ones like Sylveon and Florges though, but I'd prefer to see more darker Fairy-types in the future. :)

"Demonic" isn't the word I'd use to describe the more recent fairies. They're more "Fae-like" as in how Fae are in D&D.

I still think Gen VII had the best bug types in the series. Lurantis and Vikavolt have awesome designs.
Is vikavolt even in any of the switch games?

Lurantis isn't bug type.
pfft, next you'll tell me gyarados isn't a dragon type.

lurantis is kind of a clever concept for a pokemon in that it's a plant that looks like an insect rather than an insect that looks like a plant.

---

as an aside, i was faffing about in area zero trying to catch extra paradox pokemon, and i was fortunate enough to catch a shiny scream tail. i was lucky that it spawned in such a way where it was facing me, because it's pretty hard to miss the big red eyes, since its color variation from behind isn't quite obvious, especially if the shiny scream tail isn't next to any other scream tail. but yeah, that was cool, i guess.

Yes, they are in Sword/Shield but not Scarlet/Violet (not unless possible future DLC adds them back).

ETA: Since I didn't play Legends or BDSP, I checked Bulbapedia and they are not in those games either.

The actual order i still in development.
Future Blastoise is going to be based off
PokemonRGBY-OrigKamex.png
the original evolution of Wartortle.
'Paldean' Magikarp is now called 'Magiwyrm', befitting how Tierrados is a sandworm. While 'wyrm' wa supposed to be a deliberate misspelling of 'worm', since 'karp' is a misspelling of 'carp', 'wyrm' also fits the draconic theme tha the Magikarp line has.
Past Dynabear is based off that bear statue Brock held in the sam episode that Past Gengar, Alakazam, and Jigglypuff appeared.
The reasoning behind a lot of these inclusions is because there was a lack of Ice, Rock, Flying, Bug, and Fairy types, especially with a Pokédex that has a lot of Dark types. That is also the reason why I made Past Alakazam part Ice type.
(At least I can implement a 'Brain Freeze' pun I did years ago...)
The last 3 are actually placeholders in case DLC omes later. That is also why I left out 22 slots.
I am not sure if I am going to add Beta Igglybuff, since that is a small change in design.

I just finished the main story in Scarlet so this was my second playthrough after finishing Violet. I prefer the red lizardbro because his emotions are more obvious which makes sense because purple lizard is a cyborg, he's still cool though.

I really, really like S&V. There are flaws but I think they might end up being up at the top. I've played Pokémon since the 90s so of course I'm a nostalgiafag but I had fun and they have that intangible quality of sovl. Paleda is OK, the towns are shit in the main with little personality but the bits inbetween make up for it. The final battle against the AI and the mean lizard at the end sounds really shit when it's written down but it works and is kino, possibly even more kino than the Delta Episode.

Honorable mention to Larry's Staraptor, because that shit will take people by surprise, especially if you were stalling with paralysis or someshit just to style on him.

Otherwise, it is disappointing that none of the other gym teams have Tera appropriate pokemons.
Most of them were themed alright: Toxtricity for Rhyme because she's a musician, Sudowoodo for the Grass leader, Teddiursa for the Bug leader because she's a baker and it's paws are said to smell of honey.

My biggest Tera disappointment was on the Champion Nemona battle, where she Teras her starter as it's core type instead of its secondary. It would have been a nice play on the fact that the rival takes the starter Pokemon that's weak to you since Gen 5, and would have screwed me since we were both down to just our starters during that fight.

i am convinced that in scarlet and violet, if you want a shiny, all you have to do is believe hard enough and meander the area your desired pokemon spawns in long enough, and eventually, it will appear. that's how i found my shiny sinistea, and it's how i just found my shiny smoliv. i kinda low-key wanted a shiny smoliv because tbh that evolutionary line has kinda grown on me. also it's a weird typing with grass/normal, so that's a thing. thank fuck shiny smoliv is pretty easy to spot, because unlike normal smoliv's yellow olive, shiny smoliv's olive is black (also it has a different shade of green but no1curr).

so of course it's a male.

arboliva is the most masculine thing i have ever seen.

I know what you mean but isn't this how shinies have always worked?

The thing is that, in recent games, you can probably get several shiny Pokémon simply because you just ate a grape. Gone is the necessity of using special methods per those a few generations ago, or just giving up er the beginning.

I fucking wish. Trying to breed a Shiny Fuecoco, using Masuda and a Shiny Charm, if nothing else I’m flooding the Mystery Trades with cast offs. Also learned that there’s an actual Trade Code dedicated solely to trading for foreign Ditto’s.

Speaking of cast offs, some random Mystery Gift codes dropped. None are good, but they’re there.

lol fuck breeding for shinies. if I can't get a shiny in the wild, fuck it.

yeah, two days ago I was doing some surprise trading and I ended up with a shiny ditto with perfect IVs from italy with the name zacian.net, so that's a thing. shame it'll just rot in my box because I can't be fucked to breed.

Got myself Omega Ruby yesterday, started a hardcore nuzlocke.
Just made it through petalburg woods.

My team consists of
Mudkip Lv. 10
Zigzagoon Lv. 8
Poochyena (with Fire Fang) Lv. 8
