I feel like you deliberately misunderstood the point of my post. I was reflecting on how face-focused a lot of internet trannies are, since someone else talked about "face-passing" vs "body-passing".
It wasn't someone else. It was me. I disagreed with what you wrote because it is incorrect.
Not sure how saying "cis women do it too" changes or disproves my point.
Ignoring the first half of what I wrote does change the point that I was trying to make. "It depends on the person." This matters because your original claim was that trans women who get cosmetic surgeries will always look like a man. Similarly, you also implied that cosmetic addictions are something that trannies are very prone to, which isn't true. Most trannies don't have the money to get a ton of cosmetic surgeries, even if they want them. The whole "crippling mental illness" thing that manifests itself in the most gender dysphoric trannies tends to preclude having a high-paying job that lets you afford to pay out of pocket for FFS and BA.
One man bites dog story doesn’t really prove anything.
Perhaps a thought experiment will be more helpful for you? If we restrict ourselves to talking about
regular people who can feel shame, trannies who don't pass will usually plan their day around either using the bathroom at home or using gender-neutral bathrooms because they don't want to cause a scene, even if they would like to use the women's restroom. I believe that the majority of trannies are like this; it's only the mentally ill, terminally online ones who aren't (
i.e. Dylan) and while they are
very vocal on twitter and reddit, they aren't anywhere near the majority of trannies (let alone the majority of "women"). What this means is that the overwhelming majority of people who use the women's restroom are cis women, but because of the entire specter of the bathroom controversy, people are hypervigilant about who enters which bathroom. What ultimately happens is that the bathroom defenders
will catch more ugly cis hons than they will ugly trans hons. Ultimately, the entire debate just makes ugly women suffer more while people try and catch the relatively small number of shameless trannies who run among us lol.
You can substitute the bathroom for really anything else where being trans makes a difference in how people treat you. The very fact that people are on the look out for trannies means that mannish women are going to be incorrectly labeled as trans and treated accordingly.
Real women may be ugly, but I guarantee you that in the vast majority of cases they wouldn’t trigger any ones troon detector.
The fact that it literally happens is evidence against this statement. There's a related logical fallacy for this topic, something along the lines of the "toupee fallacy" where people believe that all toupees look like shit because a
good toupee looks like believable hair. Most people are on the look out for gigahons and AGP sissy freaks and not modestly dressed trans women.
I only have anecdotal evidence for this taken from 4chan's /lgbt/ board, but a common experience reported by trannies living in the Bible Belt is that they rarely get misgendered because most people are on the lookout for drag queen-esque trannies. Take that for what you will, but most people don't think too heavily about strangers who don't stick out like a sore thumb.
