General GunTuber thread

Honestly I think that the whole "PDW" thing is built on a flawed concept to begin with especially when things like the M4 and the various flavors of short SA80 and AUG exist and are already small and light enough for garrison duty while maintaining better performance than a "PDW" round would be capable of. Maybe someone can tell me why I'm gay and retarded here but in the current world (or even the world 20 years ago) the SBR has come far enough to more or less obsolete the SMG/PDW.

Sounds like a nightmare. Plus it's a Smith semi so it's probably going to feel like garbage in the hand and have a terrible trigger.
I have enjoyed the M&P 9. Definitely would not want it in a worse cartridge though.
Everyone says the trigger is subpar on them, but I guess I'm just not picky on that point.

The real problem with 5.7 is that it really doesn't do anything special in a handgun. 9mm works well enough for most all of the 5.7 handgun duties. 10mm covers the "9mm but more" role for half the cost. The 5.7 makes some sense in a submachine-gun/PDW role, but there are very few people for whom that is applicable.
IMO it's way overrated even for that, the ballistics fucking suck after it's spent most of its energy making its way through Lv.IIIA armor, people who have used the P90 in combat attest that the 50rd magazines are critical because you'll need to put long bursts on target to get any reasonable effect. A shorty Mk.18 carbine has far greater power and range, and uses commonly available ammunition and magazines, it has slightly less capacity and it's blasty as a fucker, but you don't need even close to as many shots, and I'll take loud over piddly if my life may depend on it.
I think that the only great part is the form factor of the P90, which is nicely compact and high capacity, but something better could be devised with a better cartridge which fits a similar envelope.

5.7mm feels like it could be a good varmint cartridge, like a better .22WMR, and like it could be fun for plinking, but it'll just never win over or compare to rimfire. For high capacity and a small bore, I'd be more interested in a Calico M100, I would only really need one, maybe two magazines, and .22LR is fairly zippy from a rifle barrel, more than enough to control the varmints. All the varmints.

Goldeneye 64 and Stargate SG-1 nostalgia isn't enough to hold up the P90 for me, Stargate Command should have issued M4A1s with red dots and some nice heavy barrels with fluting.

But I've always been interested in what something like an M1 carbine could do with the 5.7, mostly because PS-90s are gay.
That was a thing before the P90, see the earlier discussed .22 Spitfire / 5.7mm Johnson, essentially a far more powerful 5.7x28mm but with a much worse magazine.

Administrative Results shot a ballistic dummy with a minigun:
These annoying Brandon Herrera SDI ads pop up when I search something gun related on mobile:

YouTube bans you for posting gun dissembly, but I guess teaching you how to assemble guns is fine for advertising.

Gotta love this interview if the FN rep about the new SCAR pistol. Even Reeves could barely keep his composure with all the bullshit.

It was kinda special when the FN 5.7 was new, but even back then nobody was really hyping about the round itself (except for the forbidden AP flavor); most of the interest seemed to be about that particular pistol's capacity, especially after Ft. Hood.

At least I don't recall many videos from guys with those 16" barrel PS-90s who delved much into the rounds performance from longer barrels; instead they just hosed targets & waxed poetic about the magazine & the capabilities of real P-90s.

I like the idea of it. Civilian rounds only get a fraction of what it can really do, which really boils down to capacity and weight savings. You want AP, either get a 16 inch barrel to get it to go zippy so it *might* do something or join LE to get the good shit. Unfortunately it's been burdened with high costs and low amount of guns that can use it, not mentioning the polymer coating over the brass, all factors that drive costs up. But again, I like the idea of the round, it's a neat alternative to the 9mm paradigm, and hopefully with lower cost options like this new Smith that just came out, which will hopefully drop in price. once it hits shelves, demand will cause prices to drop.

Regarding the StG 44 and it's surviving blueprints.

Also if you whine about the PSA StG 44 being an inaccurate clone then you are gay because it's not even select fire so who cares about some details that are changed. The whole point of the original gun was that it was the first sturmgewehr and that means full auto capable. A true autistic gun elitist will accept the changes and not care because it's already an entirely different gun by lacking select fire. I say this as a gun autist that gets triggered when normies call the AR15 "direct impingement" or the MP5 "roller locked" REEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I care, homo.

I also have a raging PSA hate boner so I will shit on everything they do.

Kek, I don't hate PSA and probably own a bunch of their lowers (only a niggerfaggot kike poor would know how many stripped lowers they own without looking). The ones I have built work fine as any other brand.

But the manlet that runs the place has a based collection as demonstrated by the SVD saleseman himself:

I despise their business practices and faux everyman support. Their QA is non-existent and they do every underhanded trick they can to suppress reviews that don't swallow their load. PSA is also the reason AKOU is a hypocrite shill going on about integrity while he helped sell their garbage rifles.

Damnit, PSA is ZOG'd? I've never followed AKOU.

Ever since GWB cucked AK's by banning barrel imports with kits using his gay executive order in '07 I haven't even cared about new AK's. All of my Kalashnikovs are built on $80-200 parts kits with OG barrels and I haven't even looked at the retard priced modern AK's.

My Romanian, Hungarian, and Yugoslavian AK's are all sub $400 guns and that's where they belong (unless I sell them to retard Zoomers, topkek).

Wat? have you held and fired one in the past 10 years?

Shield 2.0 has a good trigger and the Shield+ has a pretty good trigger.
I despise their business practices and faux everyman support.
Can you name another company doing more in the firearms world than PSA?

He is an AK purist and has made this his hill to die in a few times in this thread.

Most of these sites peep's put there shit up on are not very user friendly, some you have to pay for and other stuff that makes them just shit to even make an account on.
Video hosting is a money pit, particularly if you're gonna let just anyone upload any kind of shit, so it's hard to compete with a cyberpunk megacorporation which has all the means in the world to cover the costs even when they make a loss on YouTube (which Google has for the majority of its history with the site).
If people could settle for 1080p, prebuffering videos was an option, and there was just some basic quality control going on, you could probably make it more viable, but it won't pay for itself.

He doesn't think much of Rumble, for reasons on which he does not elaborate.
Google Utreon, the top results are all forgotten weapons. A year or so back a handful of other YouTubers, uncivil law, and C&Rsenal (I'm guessing at Ian's suggestion) made videos plugging them. They obviously haven't had the money to do any sort of proper marketing.

The website is a mess half the first page is advertising stuff behind a paywall. Their search feature is as fucked up as Bitchutes was, and most of the videos aren't indexed on google so you can't do a search that way. Forgotten weapons page looks, fine but Ian could have done that himself on his own website embedding videos from Vimeo.

In other words I think it's a safe bet that he has some sort of relationship with them, other than simply a customer/service provider.

If guntubers want another platform then they have to produce content that will solely be on that platform, otherwise what's the point? Why would you watch a video on Utreon when you can watch it on YouTube.

Ian has done stuff like this before, people were screaming at him that they were refusing to use Patreon, and to open a Subscribestar, when eventually he grudgingly set one up, he declared he was too busy to take Q&A questions from subscribstar and it would still only be Patreon and Utreon. He has 80 supporters on Subscribestar, and his only post on the site was from 2021 informing people that he would now graciously accept their money.

If you want a contrast, there's a military YouTuber called Ryan McBeth, he puts edited videos that meets TOS on YouTube and unedited videos behind his Substack. If YouTube banned him tomorrow he'd still have his substack, and his paying audience.
