Well technically that $100K is a loan. If it's forgiven it's income and he owes taxes on it, and SFWA has also broken the law on inurement. So he owes $130K really, it's just that only Quasi is really trying to collect.

Ehhh.... If it is a "loan", it should be categorized as a receivable rather than a functional [program] expense:
As much as I would like it to be the case that this was a loan to be forgiven - making it taxable income in the year of forgiveness, as you pointed out - it does not appear to be that based on the above.

I’m really sick of all the Patrick hatred in this thread. Despite being a terrible writer and all-around despicable human being, he’s really proved his acting chops and is up for an Oscar nomination! The movie is called “The Whale” and features Patrick as a morbidly obese shut-in desperately flailing at the remains of his life.
