Chantal has joined the ever-increasing ranks of people who say ”whenever” when they mean ”when”. I hear this more and more frequently now and linguistically, it sounds horrible. They really do mean “when”.

“Whenever” sounds like they don’t know when the event took place, or that it happened more than once.

Examples. ”Whenever we got to the island” or “whenever I watched that video I was sad”. It some contexts ”whenever” would be fitting but it’s used in places where they absolutely mean “when”. I remember a large YouTuber who had an introduction to all her videos that included the statement “whenever I turned 18 I got in trouble”. It sounds wrong because she knows exactly when she turned 18 and that it only happened once. But I hear more and more people do this now.

Is this just a new thing that the kids are saying and I’m too old to understand? She’s picked this habit up from somewhere. She didn’t used to do it, did she?

I don't know if anyone else noticed that a week or so ago Chantal suddenly started adding -k on the end of words, most notably resulting in her annoying saying "somethingk". It was especially annoying when she'd do it with her put-on attempt at being cutesy. "Babe, I want to eat somethingk."

Well, we know by now that the sudden appearance of a word, phrase, random interest, accent, etc. is just her BPD kicking in and her stealing a piece of someone else she's recently been around. I thought it strange seeing as she obviously doesn't have any new friends in Kuwait. Why would they use a/c in the winter? It's -10C outside, it's not -10 inside. We don't wear parkas inside. Heat and hydro are separate where they live and heat is generally cheaper - hydro is more expensive in the summer when you run the a/c.
