This is getting a bit long and it's rather suspicious that they prolonged the pre-trial detention to what seems to be its max, and there's a lot of silence about Tate from official state representatives, while speculation is wild online.
I won't speculate myself, the corruption amount is vastly overblown by online nerds and media, at these high level cases you rarely get corruption, and even as a rich politician or business magnate you can land in jail, which has not been uncommon the last years. And there is a lot of Western media seething about misogyny and social issues which should not even be mentioned, as we're talking a legal case.
We shall see this next month, I'm cautiously optimistic the Romanian prosecution actually builds a case, but I also know that they can screw it up, badly.

When they screw up the case its usually intentional. As others have said this guy was too much of a loud mouth about corruption in romania.
