Oh no, not slander about eigenrobot, I sorta like him sometimes. He also seems to be supportive of the general notion of the Kiwi Farms or at least was denigrating our enemies during the whole Keffals Kerfuffle. This is why you shouldn't have heroes. Yes, this is basically my objection too.
From what I understand about his PhD research, he put a
lot of fucking effort into it. I also don't remember it as being sex-oriented; I think it was general black market data. At one point he was a TA. He knows how rigor works.
So, I think Eigenrobot's main flaw is not per se anything he
says but rather
how he'll condone other people violating his ethics based on whether they're, as the jargon goes, "ingroup" or "outgroup".
As one person mentioned here, he let Aella near his child. I'm near-certain he would not do the same for a regular stripper who did not meet the credentials of LessWrong rationalism. As some of you have noticed and kindly pointed out to me, there is a deficiency in us that makes us dumbasses on certain domains of social interaction. One of these is Eigen/Samuel's paranoia: he bans journalists from all of his parties, and blocked anyone who was friends with me
long before he and I had ever had a conscious social media interaction. Whoever he meets, unknowingly or unknowingly, undergoes an extensive selection process.
She couldn't handle how academics datasets get treated if something seems off about them. And it's not like academics are not already passive aggressive about this either. She'd definitely be one of those who says shit like "no, why should I give you my dataset, you're just going to try and find something wrong with it!"

At a party I suggested she collaborate with Jonathan Haidt, because I thought he'd likely take her up on the offer. I had imagined something like
