I have found a new favorite cheap beer. Currently it's supplanted Yuengling.

As far as crafts go, I don't stick with one very long... You Gotta Get Up to Get Down (a coffee stout) is about the only one I've stuck with for more than a few buys. I only really drink one if I go out.
PBR is weird. They were operating out of Texas but you couldn't get PBR anywhere because they also owned Lone Star beer. PBR was only sold at a few places in Texas, but you could get Lone Star anywhere. When I've gone back to Texas in recent years, PBR is a bit more widespread.

The craft beer types who are "slumming it" or just broke at the moment tend to drink PBR back home. I prefer Lone Star, it sits on your stomach a bit heavier. Which is good for me, I like heavier beers. Plus it has awesome little puzzles under the bottle cap that you can work out when you're drunk.
I find PBR to be like playing roulette with beer. Sometimes its great, sometimes ok, and sometimes shit.

I have quite a range with beer, going from the most expensive Belgian ales to the bottom of the barrel. I'll try anything at least once. With that said, I like both MGD and High Life well enough for a cheap fix, with a slight edge going to MGD. My advice for anyone who wants to go basic bitch from time to time is to stay away from all light versions -- the non-light ones always taste better.

It's also really good with mixing apple juice with.

I'd have to drive an hour to get anything fancier than a Blue Moon at the moment. This town runs on Farm Water ™️ which is only marginally better than Natty Light.

Has anyone else noticed that PBR is a lot harder to find, if not just being removed from store inventories? It was always my go to for day drinking with buddies or keeping costs down, but now I can barely find it, and when I do it's more expensive than the comparable shit beers by a significant margin. Been looking for a new, innoffensive cheap beer but haven't had any luck; most adjuncts are crap, and I say that as a guy who has drank far too many Steel Reserves back in the day.

For craft, I've found most of my local stuff to be okay but nothing to write home about. Living in San Diego kind of spoiled me, and most beers will never compare to anything Lost Abbey puts out because their stuff is magical. Actually justifies the thirty bucks for a bomber they ask. I have to say that the Modelo cheladas of various kinds are actually really, really good, especially if you don't want to drink much. I feel like mixing juice and spices into a shitty beer to make it better is cheating, but I care more about flavor than anything and that shit's good.

I love their Tank 7. Be careful, though, it's about 8% ABV. Drink more than three, and you'll be howling at the moon.
Speaking of moons and beer, Boulevard used to have a delicious dark wheat beer called Lunar Ale that is sadly retired now. I remember I had some in a mix pack and boy was it tasty.

If I was rich I would be drinking Arrogant Bastard all day.

But great alternatives:

Rogue Dead Guy Ale
Elysian Space Dust
Elysian Full Contact
Abita Andygator
**Abita Barney Purple Haze + Andygator**
CBC Freemason Golden Ale
Caguama

finally tried some Colt 45
got a 4pack of tallboys
unremarkable cheap beer

I am very happy that I can find Space Dust outside of Seattle, glad Busch increased their distribution through their buyout. The S.L.U snobs I had the displeasure to interact with called it corporate thievery, but the way I see it, this way more people can enjoy it. Space Dust is my favorite IPA, can or bottle I don't care. Anyone got suggestions for other IPA's to try?

Anyone have sour beer recommendations? I usually have sour beers when I want something different from my regular (Coors and Coors Banquet) and I seem to only get good sours when I go to a brewery.

been enjoying
Brecken Hefeweizen
popped up at Aldi as a cheaper beer, noticeably actual 12oz bottles instead of that commie 11.5oz shit they usually have

The first beer I drank that I actually genuinely liked for culinary reasons, as opposed to just being an inferior version of liquor for getting drunk, was Yuengling. Black and tan porter (corn-based, which is based, corn is the master grain and it's as close as I'll get to feeling like an Inca nobleman drinking chisca) preferred, but their regular lager is good too. It's also thoroughly Amerikaner, colonial, Pennsylvanian. The beer is like drinking a rich, thick cold soup.

Do we count kvass as beer in these parts?
I had it once when I - going to a Slavic concert with a Slav - stopped in a Slav store. Made borscht with sausage and potatoes, some other garbage on the side, and kvass. It has a cultural role in Russia like a nationalist alternative to soda, and is an extremely low alcohol content beer. Tastes okay. Had weird chunks of shit floating in mine, little concerning, but since I've come to like the taste of beer I've thought of getting into drinking it.

I'm not sure if it's actually beer but supposedly it's good for you.
