Microsoft is fucking butthurt no one wants Windows 11 so they're stopping the sale of Windows 10 licenses this month

These kinds of threads always crack me up. If people would invest the energy they use to go through insane hoops to keep windows usable into getting into linux, they'd be proficient linux users in no time.
one time at compusa a guy from a church youth group who worked there said "north you struck me as a linux user"

its been 25 years and I m still kinda butthurt about that statement

I don't use photo editing software, but if GIMP is anything like the purported DAWs that run on Linux, big lmao.

The fucking splash screen for Ardour doesn't go away and steals focus from the session creation screen beneath it, so I had to pull the latter down to the corner of the screen, configure the session then, and only then did the ARDOUR logo in the middle of the screen go away. If they can't make literally the first thing the user sees work properly, I'm not trusting them to properly make software that I put hundreds and hundreds of hours of work into.

Yes, Linux "alternative" software looks like it should be similar to the uninitiated and inexperienced, but when you know what the fuck you're doing, 95% of the time you immediately notice that it's garbage.

GIMP: has green peppers
Photoshop: no green peppers

The winner is clear.

Ahem... that's just a flimsy rationalization to continue being a Micro$hill and your dad is clearly too stupid to run glorious Linux anyway.

Did I do it right, Linuxbros?
You forgot a few "niggers" and "fucks" thrown in for good measure.
All right, I'll take the obvious bait. I'll respond with something I already posted.

For all this bloviating about how Linux is unstable, unfinished, and you can't do anything productive on it (I do, daily. As does MicroShaft on their Azure servers) I see very few people providing real examples of software that either has no Linux parallel or cannot run on Linux.

> You're just shilling. You're a fanboi. You're too autistic to see the use cases where Linux doesn't work.
I've acknowledge in this post and before that Linux isn't suited for some users. My initial post in this thread (I'm not going to quote myself another time) was a basically warning the Linux community that trying to bring Windows users onboard is waste of time. You might think you've "won the argument" in some feeble minded way. But if you actually follow the thread of my posts; you've actually proven my argument far better than I could have on my own. I will continue to get a great deal of enjoyment and humor from this discussion. And reference back to it far into the future.
Boy, you really are just the proverbial pigeon shitting all over the chess board aren't you?! You keep asking for "real examples" of software that doesn't run on Linux based OSes yet conveniently ignore one of the most glaring examples.

Two words. ADOBE. PHOTOSHOP. Actually, most Adobe software wont run on Linux based OS natively, but I'm sure that you will ignore that as well, or continue sperging about how GIMP or Darktable are "just as good" as Photoshop or Lightroom, but remain willfully ignorant that these software suites are a workplace requirement for many people.

but remain willfully ignorant that these software suites are a workplace requirement for many people.
I don't think it's so much that. I really, honestly think the thought process is "I don't personally use that software and it doesn't affect me, therefore it's not a legitimate problem."

These people are autistic and lack theory of mind, remember. They're Linux users.

Let me concisely restate my first post.

Linux users: teaching Windows users how to install Linux or creating another bash tutorial is a waste of time. No matter how easy we make installing Linux, no matter how many virtual machines users can choose from, no matter how similar the look and feel, Windows users will ultimately still spread their ass cheeks to MicroShaft and say "OK, I don't want to use the 'Anal Probe-u-lator 666' for rectal print scanning. But there's no way to disable biometric login on Windows 13 and they won't let me finish installing until I've finished this step.'

Just look at how the Windows users behave. 26 pages into the conversation, dozens if not over a hundred posters, literally thousands of words, and hardly any posts about how to disable the features people dislike about Windows 11. The only discussion about alternatives is "Sure, the majority of Fortune 500 companies use Linux to run business critical applications. But I'm a PoWeR uSeR and it definitely can't do what I want it to do. I know because some sperg on the internet tried 10 years ago and posted in some obscure message board back then."
Bro, who gives a shit? Let them use Windows if they want to. Why are you so mad about it? If someone jams their thumb up their ass and keeps insisting it's better than what I'm doing, it doesn't affect me and doesn't mean I have to jam my thumb up my ass. Let them jam their thumbs up their asses.

Like dude, take your meds lol

Windows has the tendency to either get it right or totally fuck everything up. There is no in between with that operating system. Just like in the days I had what would have been considered the shittest operating system that ever existed Windows Me. Notorious for blue screen of death and was as stable as a schizophrenic patient at a red automobile show. It succeeded what was considered an improvement of 95 and generally was best received upgrade from the 9x generation of Windows. XP succeeded Me and knocked it put of the park because Microsoft managed to not have a piece of dog shit operating system destroy your computer. Vista was horrific, but again 7 was God tier. Microsoft always has a lag every other generation to have a decent OS rollout and usually they patch all of the cool shit out of the new Windows OS these days so it can be essentially a state nanny cam machine.

It took me a long time to adopt 10 after its release, because that is how much I liked 7. Also I hated the idea of the sluggish nature of 10 because of the constant updates, but thanks to 10 LTSC it cuts all of that shit out. It is a pirated copy that I still have been riding high on for 2 years now and quite frankly I am not interested in the aspect of anything to do with 11. If 12 ends up being shit too, I am just going to abandon Microsoft all together, and stick with Linux.

Another point to bring up... I dont see how sperging about the multiple Linux distros and VMs and emulation software all to make it work or look "just like Windows!" is a legitimate argument. Its like the New Coke™️ debacle from the 1980s all over again. If your product is so good and far and above beyond everything else, you shouldn't be trying to emulate a competing product, your product should stand on it's own.

As an aside... I resurrected yet another laptop last night; This one was a low end Acer that was crippled years back by the Windows 8 "upgrade" that rendered it almost useless, which is somewhat common, and an extra dose of fun from a somewhat neglectful/clueless previous owner who had more toolbars and add-on extensions installed than I've ever seen on one laptop before. The solution here was a clean, streamlined Win7HomeSP1 install from a USB ISO. Currently saving all the important photos, videos, etc to a USB flash drive, and then it'll be good to go. Not the best or top of the line, but good enough for her small grade school daughter to play with. 🤷‍♂️

Is this an ESL problem? Is this a reading comprehension problem? I genuinely don't know. I'm fine with Windows users continuing to use Windows. I've stated and restated on multiple occasions now: don't use Linux if you don't want to - including the post you just quoted where I said Windows users will continue to use Windows regardless of how user friendly Linux becomes. I've even provided examples of where users shouldn't switch to Linux (in that case lab computers) yet somehow the Windows users seem to interpret this as a sales pitch for Linux.

But also Windows 11 isn't our fucking problem. 90% of this thread should be directed to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/customerfeedback.

You've written several expletive laden essays about how Linux is better in response to three line quips about Windows being better. You're combing through the thread and negrating people who generally agree with you and are just telling you to calm down. I think most would interpret that as someone getting triggered and having a meltdown. Go outside. The best operating system is fresh air and exercise.

Oh noises! Did I have an opinion that I disagreed with you on and expressed that opinion on a pseudo anonymous internet forum? Someone call the internet police! I'm assuming you have poor reading comprehension is all.

No, really haven't said what you claim I did. I said that most Windows users will continue to use Windows and trying to onboard them to Linux isn't worth the effort. Any direct comparison of the operating systems was made in passing and not intended as an exhaustive list of relative strengths and weaknesses.

I'll do what I wish with my personal life and activities thank you very much.

The words of someone in a thread about Windows who is totally not mad and doesn't care:
I moved over to Linux years ago. Slightly after the 2005 time frame that someone else mentioned so I pretty much ignore the Windows users and their griping. Except to troll them and laugh. Linux is astonishingly easy to use provided you don't need some obscure setup or literally hardware that's less than 6 months old.
Obscure setups is a reference to exotic hardware not software. Aside from the aforementioned obscure hardware and the associated drivers, there honestly isn't a single thing you can do on Windows that you can't do on Linux and likely far better. What is expected of you is to learn how to use the new software and learn the more efficient process. Obvious they're different binaries but aside from that there isn't much you can't do with Photoshop that can't be done with ImageMagik. Again, there's a learning curve. But like I said in my first post in this thread our entire conversation is a moot point since nobody is going to take that time. So I have exactly zero sympathy for people who will just complain without trying to improve their situation. You're unhappy with windows, fine. Move away from it.
This just reads like an enormous cope to me. You can just say "I don't know how to do basic tasks in Linux" without using half the space you just did. Honestly I am thrilled that Linux filters non-technical users, its a bug not a feature. I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely don't want you to use the operating system.

>But muh wine
Lurk more. You're in a tech forum.

Same response as above. If you can't read far enough to where I said "Hardware not software" you're just unable to use the machine period and everything has to be spoon fed to you regardless of compatibility. Nobody told you to enjoy your choices. People said your choices are Linux or upgrade Windows.

Go back to your Windows ghetto. Honestly the entitlement from morons like yourselves is astonishing and the single reason why nobody and I mean nobody is interested in helping you fix your problems.

>100% free to use operating system
>Mostly free to modify (some VERY small exceptions with DRM)
>Has financial and technical support from the likes of IBM, Intel, and Google
>Compatible with virtually every x86 (HARDWARE) based system on Earth
>Has multiple free options for virtualization such as VitualBox and QEMU
>Has free options for emulation like WINE
>Has multiple free replacements for existing software - i.e. Krita instead of GIMP

All you've been told to do in exchange for this is Read The Fucking Manual. But that's too much for you to do clearly from your post. So I will reference my first post in this thread

Congrats, cucks. I called it. I said this in literally my first post in this thread. You're never going to do anything about your problems except complain more. For anyone left thinking "This is all Linux needs to be adopted on the desktop", "2023 is the year of Linux on the desktop", just try dealing with these people for more than 30 minutes.

That's a fair justification for using Windows. I understand there's lots of, for example, lab computers and industrial computers that run software with only one vendor supplying the software and you need to buy them in a bundle as a turnkey solution. But people in this thread a belly aching about Adobe Photoshop or some similar application. But like I said, I've given up on people using Linux for desktop and honestly I don't want your average Linux Tech Tips user entering the platform and trying to "improve" the platform for normies while making serious work more tedious
You've written more in this thread about Windows vs Linux and how you can do everything you can in Windows in Linux than Edward Gibbon did about the fall of the Roman Empire. You clearly cannot let go of the fact that people in this thread do not want to use Linux.

Several other people have talked about how they like Linux in this thread. Out of those people, the thread has basically been about you for the last few pages. Other people have had discussions and traded snipes, but the treade was not derailed to the degree it is now. Why do you think that is? What is the difference between them and you? Why is it when I talk about liking Linux, it doesn't derail the entire thread, but when you do it is?

Could it... could it be you're coming off like a retard?

You've obviously never read the Fall of the Roman Empire then. Of course I've said positive things in defense of Linux. And likewise, I've never said that I didn't say positive things about Linux. But I've noticed you cherry picked the handful of times where I made passing references to using Linux. You also completely ignored all the times I said that Windows users should continue to use Windows.

Matt Damon just said that you need a very high IQ to read my posts. Could it be that the Windows users in this thread are disingenuous about their arguments and are butthurt that nobody else has the problems they have?

I like that you're too autistic to know that's an insult. It's endearing.
Its like you can't read sarcasm. I'm very convinced you have an 8th grade reading comprehension. Obviously that was an insult. We've been calling each other dumb for the past two days. The next question is how fucking retarded do YOU have to be not to read my post and see it as the obvious sarcasm that it was. Again with the Windows users that are too spergy to have a conversation.

Constant strawmanning from your side is very funny to watch though. Please continue to insist I said things I didn't say.
