This guy would have a stroke if he ever saw a live E3 presentation; the same amount of games, stretched out over 3x the length. And I’m pretty sure those “nervous shareholders” are too busy swimming in their piles of money made by the third best-selling console of all time, which has never gotten a price drop and still sells launch titles for $60.

If I had to guess, I'd say some or all of these are in play:
- They're waiting out the semiconductor shortage.
- They don't have a great gimmick in mind yet for the next one.
- They're afraid the next console is gonna be the new wii u.
- They're not finished until Prime 4 comes out.

Okay guys, was just browsing the file system of Prime remastered, there is a folder called 'Preload' which includes universal assets like GUI and Samus and stuff, there is a folder next to MPR1 (Metroid Prime Remastered 1) straight up just called MPRT (Metroid Prime Remastered Trilogy). The file system also looks like it could easily slot in the other games, since all the Prime 1 files are in root folders with their own MP1 folder inside those. Trilogy remaster is coming, and this release is literally ripped straight out of it.View attachment 4484704View attachment 4484692

Regarding the Metroid Prime games, I have heard a rumour (apparently going around beforehand, but I only heard in the wake of the remaster's announcement) that the plan was at some point:

1: Release Prime 1, fully remastered. They've apparently been sitting on it for a while, which is why it was cold-dropped immediately after the direct.
2: Release 2 and 3 as a bundle of two ports
3: Release Prime 4.

It may have been at some point that they were intending to more or less straight port the Prime Trilogy, then changed their minds and decided to remaster 1.

It may be intense copium on the part of the rumour mills (I've literally only just started playing the Remastered Prime, never touched the subseries before), but it does make some logical sense to hold onto the remasters and/or ports until the main event is on track to release soon.

That rumor came from a blatant fake post on r/leaksandrumors/

Ah, fuck.

How the hell is Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin, probably Pokemon and something else Q4 smaller than whatever lineup he was comparing it to?
Even taking his complaints and assuming the best of them, the direct is the best format for his complaints because it is direct. It's all the trailers with as little irrelevant time as possible. You just stop to sip your water when the japanese man is on screen, if you're not interested in a trailer, you can go for a whiz. Or you can literally just wait until the direct's over in forty minutes and skim through it.

But apparently he wants to have all the dumb skits in there, you know, waste marketing time and money for a gimmick that may not actually be good. Jingle jangle the keys for the grown adult with a five year old's attention span.

And he's talking like there was no surprises, when they just cold dropped Metroid Prime Remastered same day it was announced. The best reason to be mad at a nintendo direct is "You bastards, I've already got plans for tonight!". I mean sure, you can count it as just a remaster, but I think most people would argue it was the highlight of the direct because it was a quality remaster.

I'd go so far as to say the only reason he hates the format is he feels obligated to be there at release. Because it's his job. And like most games industry journalists, he's not there to produce journalism about the games industry.

Yeah, I went to GIB and tracked down the article to read, its a really retard take and boils down to "Nintendo should stop effectively advertising because doing so would be innovative." Also, to answer my own question, he was saying that the line up was going to be light after Zelda, which, well, its still got at least Pikmin and (probably) Pokemon, even if my hypothesized fifth game doesn't materialize.

>Because it's his job.
>his job.
Imagine being cucked into irrelevancy by Nintendo's decade old format and seething this hard on the internet about it. Frankly every console manufacturer should do this along with the larger developers, force jurnos out of the industry altogether.

Skies sucked.

Imagine going to any other trade show as a journalist and being mad that products were on display that weren't for you, personally.

Fatlus is charging $79.99 for the Etrian Trilogy and $39.99 for each game individually. Get fucked, Atlus. If you have a 3DS and access to the Untold games then play those instead. Only III hasn't ever been remade.
Original price for a digital release remake is stupid, inflation or not, this is Atlus greed.

Don't be too lazy to dig out your (3)DS and charger if you already have these games, Atlus doesn't deserve the money.

Don't put down indie games like that. There are pretty solid indie games out there. They're not all some attempt at an artistic statement.
That's why I do rely on the japanese Indie World directs as, unlike their western counterparts, they give a detailed resume on the gameplay mechanics. This filters a lot of pretentious garbage and sell me more on titles I wouldn't have heard about or give second thoughts otherwise.

There is also IndieLiveExpo which is a cozy japanese event showcasing indies although that's for all platforms, especially PC.

The whole reason Directs started happening was because people were tired of Reggie and Iwata reading stock tickets and units sold. But I don't expext the author to know that; they were born after 2001.

According to our findings, the Nintendo Switch has made $66.948 billion from launch to date. These revenues include the entirety of the Switch platform, from hardware sales across the three-system family (Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED) as well as digital and physical software sales, microtransactions from free-to-play titles, and the dual-tiered Switch Online subscription service.

We can take this a bit further. Nintendo's records show the company has made $73.193 billion in net sales revenues from the Switch's launch to present. This indicates that the Switch platform has made up 91% of Nintendo's sales earnings from 2017 - Holiday 2022. Smartphone games, royalties, and sales of other products like playing cards make up the other 9% of revenues.
