I was reading the ResetEra thread and was thinking it would be better to discuss it here, looking back I'm really baffled on why the Wizarding World setting took off so well, when it was so poorly thought out and helmed by an obviously underqualified woman. It's interesting to compare and contrast it to something like Star Wars, where there's more attention to detail, but Wizard stuff took off faster. I didn't think the books were really better than their contemporaries when they were new in YA fiction. Did WB just pick a good foundation and fill it in with iconic tunes(John Williams) and little mascot-like details that were archetypal for infinite sales in our culture?

Because it is not poorly thought out nor is Rowling underqualified. Harry potter is like a perfect meal, just the right amount of everything, especially books (4-6).

Boarding magic schools, wizards with wands, flying on brooms, etc, are very strong fantasy themes tha has a wider appeal than space and laser swords.

In addition to that girl's detailed synopsis of her playing the game, I should also mention that the Anglo-Saxon Jewish Campaign Against Antisemitism, as well as Travis Northup of IGN (I know but hear me out) have said that they didn't see any antisemitism in the game at all. I'm glad people are speaking out against the antisemitism accusations because there really isn't anything akin to it in the game. even if the goblin = Jewish people conspiracy had literally any weight to it at all, the game doesn't feed into it regardless. at the very beginning of the game, it's shown about as obviously as possible (like, a four-year-old would be able to understand the moral message) that only some goblins are bad, and that other not-bad goblins are innocent victims of the bad goblins. the existence of bad goblins does not make them all bad.

this is literally the entire story of harry potter, in fact, with snape being a 'dark wizard' yet being morally absolved at the end, Dumbledore being good but having done bad things, whatever. expecting troons to be able to understand moral teachings dumbed down enough for even children to be able to take them in is asking way too much though, I know.

WB made the right decision in not giving hack rags like Kotaku, Polygon, TheGamer, etc early review codes. These self-righteous faggots would've made an effort to ruin the game's metascore due to their own hurt feefees. More companies should just outright refuse to patron any of these sites, they're clearly uninterested in doing their job honestly.

This review is the kind of review that all of the deranged, salty journos from those sites want to make the standard. They're angry at IGN stating that they care first and foremost about the fun factor because it directly goes against the increasing politicization of gaming that they desire.

Someone says they heard it was called a scam, but it's not rated poorly as a charity so it must be fine, right? (Trans lifeline currently has a rating of 78% on the site the commenter mentions. Interesting as it lists salaries of employees. Apparently their EIN is 47-2097494 and it's pretty easy to find their tax documents.)

Exactly, and it's so bare-faced that I find it hard to believe as few people notice it as it seems.
