I've recently been interested in WWII miniatures (bolt action) so this did get me curious. But I thought world of tanks was a fucking meme like Raid Shadowlegend. Is it a legit game or is the african warlord fucking with me.
About as real as Genshin Impact.
It has real gameplay, and you might like it if you like that kind of thing, but it's 100% gacha at this point.
I know a few guys who used to play it, and the complaint they all have is that it's unsustainable without swiping.
You can't maintain playing anything high-tier, because it costs more to repair and restock after a match then you earn by winning the match (unless you have a premium account).
I've seen a couple of people over the years, frothing at the mouth, explaining to me, how you totally can play as F2P.
You just need to always win, never get hit, wake up to the alarm, so you can join you clan's fights for the small premium currency bonus and play on the schedule to maximize periodic boosts to regular currency gains.
But they sounded as deranged as people who say Lost Ark is not P2W and is totally viable.
And there's also golden premium ammo and premium-only tanks.
The game used to be exceptionally popular in post-soviet republics ten+ years ago, and my Steam friends list was full of green WoT at all times too.
Haven't heard of anyone actually playing it in ages though - so I can only assume that population is a fraction of what it used to be.
Would explain why they are paying youtube shekelmeysters now.
