Ok so i finished Drawn Together and tbh it's not really bad, Yes most of the jokes are just low-effort shock humor but they have good jokes from time to time the movie was just awful but I like the Isreal jokes.
what about you?

@Basic Blond Boy So did the movie actually have a plot? Because it sounds like it was just an excuse for a lot of references.
The plot goes like this:

Chip & Dale are stars of their popular tv series. As the series comes to a conclusion, Dale grows an ego and starts heading projects without Chip, causing a break up between the two. Cut to years later, Chip has an insurance gig and Dale is a washed up celebrity. The two get back together when they hear that Monty has gone missing as they were the best detectives, right?

From there the story is their investigation. Eventually, they run into a bootlegging conspiracy, where a bootleg company takes washed up toons, commits body horror by replacing parts, and forces them to act in their shitty pictures. The head of the operation is Peter Pan, who is doing this because Hollywood blacklisted him out once he was too old, a very realistic tale as it happened to the real Pan voice actor.

Other details are that Chip & Dale meet black girl, a mega fan of them that aids them at the end of the film. She is a cop who is consistently mistreated by her Gumby looking boss because she fucked up the Peppa Pig case and got him attacked by Paw Patrol. Twist, Gumby was actually evil and working for Pan the entire time, hence why he hated her detective work.

How legal is this? The majority of those IPs mentioned belong to Paramount and/or Warner Bros. I'm suprised they didn't get sued for copyright infringement, but maybe the movie was just so bad and forgettable that it wasn't worth it.
This being Disney, either they actually asked for permission (like they did for Roger Rabbit)/made some sort of deal... or else they're hiding behind the Parody clause.

Actually, having not seen the movie myself... do they specifically say its those characters? Like do they actually use the name "Peppa Pig" or something like that? Or is this a case where they're similar looking but just distinct enough to not get sued, like "Bart Simpleton" from that one episode of Tiny Toon Adventures?

Really it's Disney they have the deep pockets to buy tempsry rights to whatever they don't own before they'll buy it permanently.

I've said before that ready player one is...flawed like it's very love it or hate it but I personally blame it (and to a lesser extent lego movie) for being why big crossovers Luke chip and Dale 2022 and space jam 2 were allowed to happen. They gave studios the impression this is what the people want, but they didn't understand that those movies also had legit talent and writing to support the concept.

Oh ps. Go to the cwcki at sonichu.com and search dimensional merge. Yes part of me does want to see the time-line where Chris didn't go to jail. Cause I'm legit curious to see how he'd react to his own delusions of grandeur being made into a legit work of media. Alas well have to wait till he's out of jail hopefully within the "next few months he mentioned. ''

Dude, no.

Chris is a freak and the less there is about him the better.

Right right sorry thats why I said part if ne the other part knows its for the best. But let's not Ohio train this thread.

Sorry to being Velma back yet again but youtube personality dr wolfula wanted to wait for the whole series to be available as opposed to episode by by episode basis.

I said it in the reference list, yes, they do make direct mentions of these IPs. Also, yes, Randy Marsh, Ben Affleck Batman, E.T., Beavis & Butthead, He-Man, Sonic, and the ponies are all fully there, no parody or knock off version.

The cringe actually felt like it was hurting me when watching.

soooo does puppetry count as western animation? Cause we have some great examples of that, beyond Jim Henson's work that was Peter Jackson's meet the feebles.

and then the not so great stuff like nickelodeon's Mr. Meaty.

I didn't know where else to bring these up. We don't have a "puppets and puppetry appreciation" thread as far as i know.
If i had to choose Puppeteers who i really enjoy, Bil Baird would definitely the top one. He may not be as well known as Jim Henson, but his creations definitely had a really unique and somewhat charming quality to them.

That and his illustration work wasn't half that bad either.

"ohio train this thread" holy fuck thats good

That video saved both time and sanity. The zombie guy forgot to note that the only reason "Velma" is the most watched cartoon on HBO Max is because it's basically the only cartoon on HBO Max right now. Everything else was either cancelled or scrubbed off the service. No shit you'll win a competition if there's no competitors. And the reward "Velma" got was a gold-plated star saying "you tried". 🚬

Drawn Together's charm came from not only the voice talents but the appealing colors and backgrounds. The fact you can tell they're all from different places but still look like they're from the same show is impressive. "Kappa Mikey" has this show to thank for the concept. Cree Summer as Foxy Love was really really good. That's a woman who can sing.

And since puppets are being brought up, Crank Yankers was (and is, it's back and still decent) a good time.

The zombie guy
Ghoulash as the Dr wolfula guy points out. They're both the same guy just using two different personas. I think his real name might be Sid something based on an episode by episode retrospective of the first season of scooby doo he did as himself. Dr wolfula, ghoulash, sid whatever you call him, He's mostly ok in my book not lolcowish in any way, and hopefully it stays that way. Though really aside scooby doo the guy is more a horror reviewer than an animation one.

Crank yankers now that was some funny stuff. I'm surprised it was able to come back just as good as it was given how reboots tend to be these days. I checked and as far as adult puppeteering goes the only good mainstream* examples are the aforementioned meet the feebles and crank yankers, and Team America world police. (Not counting avenue q since that's a play)

*everything else was all foreign stuff like the pied piper from Czechoslovakia released in 1985 or some Swedish movie called strings, but I did find this 2004 movie live freaky die freaky.

edit: and of course it can only be watched on youtube, fuck youtube.

Bluey honestly seems like a pretty well made kid's show but....

It has attracted some very strange people
What's with the trend of soyjaks YouTubers watching a series and ranking every episode?
Seems like a huge-ass timewaster for the YouTuber and the viewer because to be honest (and very torturing for the YouTuber), nobody is going to care except about the ranking except the worst 10 and best 10 episodes. Just make a top 10 list, holy shit. This is like some MauLer-tier video of annoying smug behavior.
