You're right but for the wrong reason. Nobody cares who said chungus first, what matters is who coined or popularized it. On that front Jim's right and he used it frequently enough to make it a more popular term. But his use of chungus has nothing to do with the meme. When people used big chungus no one was thinking about Jim Sterling or his shitty show. They were thinking of fat Bugs Bunny. I'm sure it eats at him that someone else took the joke he was using and became far more popular then him.

I vaguely remember hearing the word used now and then on the playground. He simply used something that he heard as a kid and is trying to claim he invented it. It would be like if Doug Walker claimed to have made the playground version of jingle bells about Batman.

In a way it doesn't matter, but it matters a lot to Jim because it's the closest thing to a lasting legacy he has that he hasn't fucked up or distanced himself from. Meanwhile, people he doesn't like such as JK Rowling and Scott Cawthon have successful, long lasting legacies that continue to this day.

Weekly shows can work if you have a particularly nuanced perspective, performative ability, and/or put in production value to make it worth the wait. Jim's streams have become more predictable, less performative and entertaining, and are unbelievably fucking lazy - especially considering he offloads the editing to other people entirely now.

Weekly shows are pretty bad for a "here's what's happening in Video Games" show, though. People are accustomed to (in that space) hearing something on a Tuesday night and watching YT videos on it Wednesday morning. The main valid weekly Video Game News content are podcasts - of which there are hundreds better than whatever Jim is doing - and also drastically longer.

If he wasn't a lazy sack of shit - what he should do is start a second weekly show about whatever topic he's actually interested in and try and grow that before sunsetting the "old" channel or even just finding a writer for it and just "presenting" it. It's really pathetic he can't stay excited for a once a week show that probably takes him like ~2/3 hours a week to make and pays him a gigantic pile of money, enough for him to live extremely comfortably and easily.
