Mega Rad Gun Thread

Then how much does the carbine cost and is it in the US?
I found this on RIA, a modern repro made by Mauser, which sold for $1450.

Turns out "Automatic" is a Ukrainian manufacturer:
These firearms are designed for the Ukrainian civilian market. Except for the C96 carbine, which as you know has a locked breech short barrel recoiling action, all other firearm replicas of this company are direct blowback operated guns firing from an open bolt. I assume the Ukrainian law has no restrictions on the open bolt civilian firearms as soon as they are semi-auto only. Interestingly, the MP-38 replica has a built-in mechanism that prevents the gun from being fired if the stock is folded. I am pretty sure this design change is done to meet the legislative requirements which set a minimum overall length for civilian firearms.

Edit: Company origins:
In 2005 a team of engineers sharing passion for military history with just one milling machine available started development of a highly precise M.P.38 submachine gun copy. All of the team members were experienced in metalwork and designing. The team also had access to M.P.38 exhibited in a museum which was used as a sample. Designing process was started from a scrap: first step was to make molds for Bakelite parts and magazine well. Three months after the first highly detailed (with all markings) dummy was finished. The next project was PPD-40 submachine gun followed by PPD-38/40, МР28, and МР18. Starting from 2008 AUTOMATIC launched production of its blank firing weapons as a supplement to the dummies, which quickly became popular among historical reenactors and producing studios around Europe shooting war films. The company started manufacturing firearms in 2016. Today the brand is known not only with its highly precise historical weapons replicas, but with its original models as well.

Their C-96 carbine is $6297(!), while the MP-38 is $2664 USD.

I've been tasked with finding a good modern 9mm for my old man's wife, price point around 600 and ideally a good option for beginners, I've already done some research on my own but I figure I would get some good input from you guys
So any suggestions?

Is this a carry gun? Range toy? Home defense?

Totally should get a Hudson H9.
I'm joking.
S&W EZ9 maybe? Glork 43/x or a 48.
P365 probably isn't a bad choice for a double stack.
Son has a Ruger LC9 MAX, I think.
They have 27 different versions of it, I can't remember which one he has.

as a Shotgun Guy, this video almost had a narcotic effect on me.

what a Stick.

I really, really want one to add to the toy collection. It looks like something out of Metal Slug. And it's kinda based on my favorite pump gun platform too :]

Earlier in the thread I posted some images & info about the 14.5x114 Snipex Alligator, today I found video of one in action:

And something for scale (Alligator & T-Rex).

I love that we've just gone back in time, from rocket launchers and wire guided missiles, back to bolt action anti tank/material rifles. 14.5 by all accounts still hits like a freight train, and I just wish it was easier to shoot in the states, because that would be one hell of a experience. Doesn't seem like it has all that much recoil in the rifle with the brake and sheer mass.

I would like to make a prediction and have others engage me regarding this prediction.

I predict that Compensators in various forms are going to be the next big thing regarding pistols, I also believe that time is now.

Reasons for this belief

1. Sig has recently released three compensated handguns two of which incorporate their novel "Spectre" integral Compensator

2. FN has just come out with the 509 CC Edge which is a compact pistol featuring a novel quick detach Compensator facilitating easy removal for maintenance, a design style they and others will undoubtedly implement elsewhere

3. Two different manufacturers, Radian Weapons and Parker Mountain Machine now offer Micro-Compensators which attach to proprietary barrels as traditional 1/2x28 barrels do not allow them to meet their length requirements

The manufacturers evidently see a demand and tech is certainly improving, remember that the Roland Special which began the niche trend of tactical compensated handguns is not even a decade old and also that the ancestor of the modern Slide riding MRDS is the Aimpoint 9000 on a fixed mount. What I am trying to say is that things from competitive shooting trickle down to the tactical world and that competitive shooters were the first to widely employ red dots and compensators. Thoughts?
Some time ago I wrote this here post. I would like to make an updated version of it to further support my position.

Firstly, I have discovered two more Micro-Compensator manufacturers and Shadow Systems revealed a proprietary 3 lug mounting system for them during SHOT. Sig has also introduced two new compensated pistol sku's.

Manufacturers of Micro-Compensators/Pistols that come with microcomps as a package
-Parker Mountain Machine
-Radian Weapons
-Rouge Gunworks
-Agency Arms (sold as a Sage Dynamics branded product)
-FN
-Shadow Systems

Sig now sells the following factory compensated handguns
P320 Spectre Comp
P365XL Spectre Comp
P365X Macro
P320 AXG Comp
P365XL Rose (Doesn't really count in my opinion because it is a slightly different XL Spectre Comp but a sku is a sku)

Hell, we still have all the rocket launchers, missiles, and even directed-energy weapons; so now all we need is power-armor.

Besides the Fallout & WH4k meme comparisons, current-day reminds me more of an RTS game on the PC where WW1 never ended; just without the giant steampunk mechas, superheavy tanks, and zeppelin battleships/aircraft carriers.

Absolutely true. It's just funny that for all our advancement, sometimes the best solution is a really fast and big bullet from a fuck hueg rifle.

Now for something completely different: a Korth in 9x21

Ah Korth, the guns everyone wants but only youtubers have. Would love one of their revolvers. 9x21 is absolutely exotic here in the states, even if it's basically equal to 9x19. Wish we had more guns chambered in it in the states if only for variety, they sell the ammo at my lgs. Get me a Beretta in it, now that'd be fun. It'd also be good at insulating against a ammo shortage like 2020, since it's already established.

On a different track, wouldn't it be cool if they had a 38 special PCC? Ruger did something like that in the past, and with something like a big single stack mag, maybe 15 rounds, I think it could work. Making it top fed like a Owen would help with feeding too. And with a 16 inch barrel, you're getting 9mm performance. Had this wacky idea in my head for a while, any thoughts guys?

Last I looked for how the hell to get one, it was 'go to one of these boutique dealers in person and talk about it'. I don't expect an online form and shipping to my FFL but it seemed super snooty and who got time for that.

38 Special PCC. I mean 357 maybe, but 38 gets into 'why would you want 9mm power that works worse in a semi-auto and costs more?'

I'd want one to see if it can be done and share ammo with a revolver. Maybe make it so it can take both rounds?

9X21 IMI, Which is distinct from 9x21 Gyurza, a purpose designed Russian AP pistol cartridge.
I've seen it as 9x21 Winchester in the States, along with competition pistols sold & marked as 9x21 Win.

And speaking of 9x21 Gyurza, I've always been far more interested in the Veresk SMG, and never really paid attention to the Russian pistol chambered for it, the SR-1/P-9... and fucking hell, it's ugly. Like some ungodly offspring between a Glock or FN and a Makarov:
9mm_SR1PM_pistol_TVM2012_015.jpg
For those that don't know 9x21 IMI is a silly little cartridge designed by Jews for sale to Italians and a few other peoples because their countries banned possession of "Military cartridges" like 9x19.
Silly maybe, but the market for it is big enough if the heebs are involved.

i have a couple Korth pieces and they're extremely nice, and imho worth the money if you're the type of person that wants the best. Janz is a close second with the nicer Dan Wesson, Colt, and SWPC pieces out there for more practical people. big fan of bespoke shotguns and rifles as well, but really for someone that isn't interested in that particular weapon and just wants a very well made handgun, there are a lot of makers out there for them.

9x21mm IMI is a little better than mediocre 9x19mm loads, with 9x23mm Win being where it's at for people that want a high pressure 9mm that isn't willing to go the 6.5 CBJ route - plenty of case capacity and easy to wildcat and drop in convert a 1911 or 2011 pistol into it with minimal effort. 9x25mm Dillon deserves a resurgence too, but the brass is annoying to make and the sharp shoulder doesn't lend well to sloppy actions or reloading once fired.
