Terror Trouble in Orlando

I assume the feds can't actually do anything to him until after he breaks a law.

According to his co workers he was ranting and raving about committing mass murder against Jews and gay people. You can absolutely take action against something like that and as more information comes out, it seems the FBI and local authorities were unwilling to take further action for fear of appearing politically incorrect.

It won't show for me. :( Can someone screenshot/summarize it?
Basically, it was saying how when he was a kid he lived life like any American. But he happened to have anger issues and bullied others. He was also insecure about his masculinity and being Muslim, and that led to the breaking point he would face later in the incident that happened recently.

"What if them Mexicans killed at Pulse was illegals???" Also "there are far too many layers... Far too many." :story:

But I would like to know if anyone can verify that this is a legitimate issue or another case of "why is no one talking about this fantasy scenario I just made up? wouldn't that be so tragic?" A quick google search turns up only the hilarious website Think Progress.

Gee it's almost like there's negative consequences to living in a place without going through the proper channels to do so, particularly related to emergency services.

Don't you think even the families of the illegal immigrants would want to know about the loss of their loved ones? Is she implying it is better for those people to go unnamed on the chance they might be here illegally? Is it better to just bury the bodies in an unmarked grave? Furthermore, whatever country they were originally from do need to be alerted to their deaths whether they were here illegally or not.

In short, it is not our concern to protect the identities of illegal immigrants. The dead deserve to be named.

Uggggghhhhh. If I have to see the word 'latinx' one more time, I swear to God...

Isn't the fact that people were gunned down in a terrorist attack SLIGHTLY more important than some doom and gloom hypothetical situation?

There probably wasn't any danger of that happening until she suggested it. :c Only a depraved mind could think up such a thing.

So Omar was obviously a nutcase yet no-one in charge thought to do anything about it?

Jesus H. Christ.

Even worse, when his coworkers contacted the FBI after he said he was connected to al Qaeda they concluded that the coworkers were racist and only reported him because of anti Muslim bigotry lol

An then were supposed to give these guys all our guns and they will protect us? Lmao

It's been getting harder for the FBI to survey mosques and Muslim neighborhoods to search for extremists because of "THAT'S ISLAMOPHOBIC" bullshit, too.

Maybe if people actually 1.) reported Islamic extremism (this especially applies to those in the Muslim community; if I was at church and I overheard someone talking about murdering gay people, I'd sure as hell call the police or at least alert someone who could better handle the situation) and 2.) those reports were taken seriously, both Islamophobia and Islamic terrorism in the United States (and in other Western countries) would go down.

Islamophobia is bullshit. Jews get like six times more hate crimes than Muslims, is America as a whole antisemitic or is that a thing we need to constantly beat us over with in the news? Of course not. In fact almost every one gets more hate crimed than Muslims but media and leftist faggots like it's Berlin 1933 for them somehow.

Islamophobia is a real thing (ask any Indian, Sikh, or anyone else who "looks Muslim"), but it's been so overblown by the media that it's become bullshit. It actually really bothers me that, in the wake of tragedies caused by Islamic terrorism, there's always a slew of articles that boil down to "Yeah, okay, what happened is really sad and all, but we need to focus on the REAL victims here: Muslims who might experience some bigotry in response to this attack!" The way these articles talk, you'd think that Muslims in the West are constantly being violently attacked, driven out of their homes, and ignored and discriminated against by the very institutions that are supposed to uphold their rights (you know, kind of like non-Muslim and "wrong sect" Muslim minorities in Muslim-majority countries are). Like, sorry, but I care much more about the victims of Islamic terrorism than I do about Muslims who might face some discrimination because of it. That's not to say that I approve of that discrimination at all, I just don't think it's on the same level as death and disfigurement.

It's like you said, we're constantly being beaten over the heads with the idea that we as a people ("we as a people" meaning all Westerners) are Islamophobic. The term itself has been bastardized so much that it's lost all meaning (similar to the term "racist"). Criticizing Islam in any way is Islamophobia. Wanting someone to remove their burqa when they take an ID photo is Islamophobia. Asking that mosques that are rumored to host radical preachers who spread hate speech be monitored is Islamophobia. Not wanting sharia law to be implemented in a secular country (even just in family courts) is Islamophobia. Time and time again Islamophobia has been used as a way to shut down discussions about the dangers of radical Islam and Islamism (Islam as a political force) and I'm so tired of it. I've said this before, but people need to understand that it's possible to condemn bigotry towards Muslims and Arabs while simultaneously condemning radical Islam and other poisonous ideologies.

And to top this long rambling post off, I just want to say that I get really irritated at Western Muslims who complain all the time about Islamophobia and yet never say a word about the absolutely atrocious and inhumane treatment non-Muslim minorities face in Muslim-majority countries.
But no, please complain more about how people are being snide to you because you're wearing a hijab. Again, I'm not saying it's okay to discriminate against people or that people aren't allowed to complain because others have it worse, but it would be nice to see people who constantly condemn Islamophobia acknowledge that Muslims in the West have it infinitely better than non-Muslims in Muslim countries.

Checked a RLM thread on /tv/ and jeez, yet another reason to dislike that fat fuck Josh from RedLetterMedia:

At least tons of people called him out on his nonsense, but holy shit. Getting really tired of this nonsense, especially from a heterosexual dude who has probably never faced discrimination from religious folks. Why the fuck do you think he was homophobic?

Do you mind linking the thread? I'm interested in seeing how people responded.

Bill Maher is wrong about lots of things, but when he's right he's right

Bill Maher has continuously condemned radical Islam and the bigoted, misogynistic, and violent beliefs held by many in the so-called "moderate majority." He's also frequently voiced his disgust at how his liberal colleagues always choose to keep echoing "ISLAM IS THE RELIGION OF PEACE" in the face of rising Islamic extremism. Seriously, just Google "Bill Maher Islam" and see for yourself.

Like you said, Maher is wrong about a lot and I disagree with many of his viewpoints, but I do have a lot of respect for his insistence on calling out Islamic radicalism and his refusal to mindlessly defend Islam from criticism like so many other liberals do. He's gotten into a lot of fights on his show, has been accused of being a racist bigot (basically a death sentence in a lot of liberal circles), and has even been booed by his own audience, but he refuses to stand down and keeps calling out hypocrisy when he sees it.
