Regardless of why Dexit happened, I'm still of the belief that it was a matter of "when", not "if".I've bitched about Dexit in the past here, but I'll keep it simple in regards to my argument.
The issue is that having all Pokemon made the games unique, special in a way that nothing else has ever compared. Giving that up is destroying the very identity of the franchise. It wasn't done for a good reason, anything about graphics or memory limitations is bullshit, it was cynically done to sell shit like Pokemon Home and put even less effort into making the games. I would give them the benefit of the doubt if Home was free, but $20 a year is avaricious nonsense - Google Drive give you millions of times the storage for free that it takes to hold the kilobytes of Pokemon data. It steams me to no end they changed from physical solutions to moving Pokemon to software that's future is basically numbered as seen by Pokemon Bank being axed from download-ability soon when they could have made a physical dongle to save the data to transfer from 3DS to Switch.
In the end it's true most people don't care about bringing Pokemon into new games. 90% probably don't even connect their games together in any way, just abandoning the save and moving on to the next game when it comes. That makes the effort to nickle and dime that 10% with manufactured fees for a worse version of something that always existed for free all the worse. Being okay with Dexit is being okay with lower standards and the attempt to make every game have live service elements, and I can't abide that.
Still, game is made by small indie company, so prease undertandu.
I can see how it would be inevitable but at the same time it was incredibly jarring how it happened with the leap to new, stronger hardware after they managed to fit all of them plus additional forms into the 3DS.Regardless of why Dexit happened, I'm still of the belief that it was a matter of "when", not "if".
Even if Game Freak was more competent on the technical side of things, having a game where it's possible to obtain 1000+ Pokemon and counting sounds like it would be quite the undertaking. This is also taking into account that they would be working within the limits of the Nintendo Switch and the fact that they're pressuring themselves to get a game out every year.
I don't believe Dexit is a sign that Game Freak is taking a lazier approach to the series. Hell, I'm not sure I can even buy into the "GF is lazy" mentality. In Scarlet/Violet there's little attentions to detail that show that there is definitely still some love being put into these games, but it has become very apparent that this franchise needs to be handled better if S/V launch is any indication.
Ive always firmly believed that the Pokémon company wasn't truly ready for the 3D switch. They had the Capcom struggle.I can see how it would be inevitable but at the same time it was incredibly jarring how it happened with the leap to new, stronger hardware after they managed to fit all of them plus additional forms into the 3DS.
I've often seen people citing The Pokemon Company as one of the causes behind the lack in polish beyond just Game Freak and I can totally see how with the release schedule the series has.
And I agree on GF still putting some love into the games, there are plenty of neat animations in S/V for new mons and characters alike. I could see them doing better if they were given more time and ressources.
Though they have yet to regain the passion that the HG/SS director had for the development of the remakes.
I'm not saying they couldn't do it. I'm saying that, with how things are being run now, a task like that is easier said then done. You really think the highest grossing game franchise in the world couldn't make a full dex on switch of 1,000 when they could on 3DS with 802 pokemon? Bullshit.
Highest grossing franchise, they could hire more with ease to pick up the slack on what's difficult. If it weren't so fucking profitable I'd understand more. They just want to pump it out yearly with little care on quality control.I'm not saying they couldn't do it. That's what I'm trying to say here. The yearly releases is the biggest issue with the games. It can't be offset by simply hiring more people. I won't act like I know how game development works, but I do know that training needs to be done for new employees and that takes time. Time that could get in the way of developing the next Pokemon game.Highest grossing franchise, they could hire more with ease to pick up the slack on what's difficult. I'm so salty that it's a yearly release that suffers in quality you don't even know. Every time I talk about this anywhere else on the internet I'm swarmed by fedoras thinking that nintendo can do no wrong. I like this thread. That's what I'm trying to say here. What I think that Game Freak needs to do is slow the fuck down and adopt a release schedule similar to series like Super Mario and Zelda.

Mystery dungeon is the best game on switch for pokemon so far. I did finally start playing brilliant diamond though and I don't hate it. I'm gonna die mad about sword and shield being shit though. And I'm not probably going to pick up scarlet and violet now that there's a save killing bug either. Which is a shame because I love all the starters and a lot of the dex for gen 9.It was even more telling, when Super Mystery Dungeon had more Pokémon available (720), than Sword and Shield post-DLCs (664), BDSP (493), and Scarlet and Violet (478 so far).
The bugs for S/V I have seen and read about make it pretty close to that point but not to it yet. I think gen 10 is going to be a fucking mess. The series being as big as it is, and the game not reaching Fallout 76 or Battlefield 2042-levels of awful yet, makes people believe that.
Small update regarding Save Corruption.Bit of a PSA for Scarlet/Violet.
There seems to be some data corruption issue with either the GO connectivity or DLC which can result in a lost save file. If you have used the Go connectivity or downloaded the pre-order DLC, I would recommend not playing your main profile until it has been patched. According to Reddit (yeah, I know), while it's only occured for a small number of people, it seems more common than it should be (around 1% of user have experienced it from their data set). Utterly embarrassing GF. Nintendo eventually gave in to save backups for Animal Crossing because of shit like this, get with the fucking times GF. Worrying about "cloning" or "exploits" is a bullshit excuse when it's already so easy to hack the Switch, it's quite rediculous for me to be actually considering jailbreaking my Switch just to have the means to backup my save file.
Oh but if it's a duplication bug, you assholes are on that shit fast. Utterly clownish.
In other news, Smogon is already having talks regarding banning Walking Wake from OU. I saw that shit coming the second I caught one and saw what it can do. It's a real mystery why I don't play Showdown, I gotta say.
But this pig is different this time, because it's name is a le heckin' epic maymayMaybe GF should keep bloat/duplication in mind next time before making yet another fucking pig/boar line. And yes, I've brought this up before.
We've been over this. lechonk is most likely is play on the word "lechon", a spanish term for a suckling pig, than it being some meme reference. But this pig is different this time, because it's name is a le heckin' epic maymay
Why are you still going on about this? We have way more rodent Pokemon (if we're only counting the mice pokemon, there's like 11-13) in the Pokedex than we do pigs/boars (5 pig pokemon to be exact). Are you sure you don't just hate pigs and boars?Maybe GF should keep bloat/duplication in mind next time before making yet another fucking pig/boar line. And yes, I've brought this up before.
Fangames are shit, ROM Hacks are GOATI'm looking for something to play and I'm curious as to what this thread enjoys. So,
What's your favourite fangame or romhack? You can list runner-ups too.

Sure, but how do you explain all of the mouse Pokemon? The pika-clones especially:Rodents are a group of animals, which include rats, squirrels, chipmunks, lemmings, beavers, etc. While pigs only include pigs. The former having way more variety than the latter
