I'm not a huge Howard Stern fan, so I'm open to correction, but to my knowledge he never passed out mid broadcast and had to be roused by being poked with a spoon with the promise of ice cream.

I think even Hunter S Thompson had some standards.

He's more of an Artie Lange, if Artie Lange was really not funny. Artie struggled with addiction basically forever and it eventually started to leak into the Howard Stern show. It took a while but it eventually came out in the open that he had relapsed. He would fall asleep a lot just like Ralph lol.

If that's true and not just dono bait, it's as bad as expected. The more you have, the easier it is to have them with addictions because it denotes a serious lack of vital chemicals in your body. The more often they occur, the easier for the BIG one to come. It's one of the most common warnings to alcoholics, quit before you have that first one, and once you have that first one, quit or risk death more than ever. 6 or 7 is an insane amount. At that rate it could happen literally any day. Or, it could happen after a comparatively minor relapse.

It's also a big indication of permanent mushed up brains syndrome

I never used or abused xanax but from what I read tapering off of it is ridiculously long process and is often measured in years. To pull it off person can't be spineless, think skinned and really has to have reason to live. Ralph will be on xannies for as long as he lives.

Benzos and alcohol are both extremely dangerous to withdraw from. I just don't see someone like him with zero impulse control ever getting sober. I was watching some old ibs clips the other day and it's shocking how different Ralph sounds in just a few years time. It's obvious he isn't capable of being sober for any amount of time throughout the day.

Assume for the sake of argument that Ralph has the willpower and first grade-level arithmetic to taper off the Xanax--while sober.

That he's tapering means he'll still be on a gigantic dose of Xanax and drinking like a fish for weeks if not months. Drunk and stoned Ralph does not have the willpower or arithmetic prowess to taper correctly.

He's fucked.

Wouldn’t you maybe take the time to learn how to say in Spanish ‘does this contain tree nuts I’m allergic’ considering she has to ask every damn time they eat somewhere, and she says she went to the ER from eating one cashew? Or nah? Whatevs.

The last thing that Ralph wants is for May to die, or for him to end up having to look after Rozy. Even sober Ralph would be unable to care for that child.
