Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I'd argue them submitting Wreck It Ralph 2 was a sign of the absolute state of the company: Outdated internet culture/memes, ignorance of what came before them (which was really good), IP dick swinging that adds nothing to the story, girl power that makes the girls in question look like spoiled bratty bitches and once again, deserving to lose to a superior movie. Turning Red is just a continuation. Not the beginning. And it's twice as embarrassing given it had Pixar's name on it too. Bigger the beast, harder the fall. 🚬

I can see that. I just hope it slows down soon enough for me to enjoy big budget animation again. I can only get my fix from old media for so long.
Ralph breaks the internet was also one of the first obvious examples of the push to emasculate/flandarize the (white) male leads to be succeeded by side characters that are female, another race or both. At least one of the first I noticed. Now you can see this happening in basically every franchise sequel put out by hollywood. Marvel's about to not even have any main male heroes that aren't at least brown or/and gay. Not all of these outright villainize a beloved character like Ralph 2 did. It's still one of the worst. Didn't just make him dumber, made him childish and outright malicious.

We joke, but Turning Red actually did have a cut scene of Mei Mei getting on a plane.
I'm starting to believe E;R actually works in the industry lol

I'M starting to believe we actually live in a simulation, and the maker is just making fun of us at this point.

I remember that. Late 1990s was when I started turning on Western Animation in part because I hated the fuck ugly art styles, but I recall Jumanji's stories actually being gripping despite the art. More than once I thought of getting the Complete Series DVD I sometimes see floating around.

For that matter, does anyone else have a few less-talked-about 80s/90s cartoons they'd like to share? Spring always gets me in the mood for them but I feel like I've seen all the big-name stuff like He-Man and Thundercats. (Then again, as my post in a different topic indicates... if it exists, I've probably heard of it. Still will be nice to jog some memories.)
Hey you know. I honestly picked that video at random but actually watching that episode? It's surprising that Everett peck was working on this while also making duckman. I swear between jumanji duckman and stressed Eric (the first season) those shows all look like they could be taking place in the same world.

Klasky cuspo sure was some studio, they did the early season of the simpsons, created the first nicktoon (rugrats) was nicks go to studio for like a decade till spongebob became their Mickey mouse, and then they just fizzled out and vanished with the sands of time.

DreamWorks' new movie, Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken.
Teenage Kraken follows a shy 16-year-old named Ruby Gillman (Lana Condor) who learns that she is the next in a legendary line of royal sea krakens. Despite her lofty destiny, all Ruby wants to do is fit in. At school, she falls for a skater-boy that she’s tutoring who shows no indication of feeling the same way about her. Ruby struggles even more to fit in because her mother (Toni Collette) forbids her from going to the beach with any would-be friends. But when Ruby decides to disobey her mom’s instructions, she learns that she’s descended from the warrior kraken queens and will one day ascend to her grandmother’s throne, voiced by Jane Fonda, as the Warrior Queen of the Seven Seas.
Y'know, DreamWorks is an interesting beast. Theirs is a history filled with terrifying lows (Shark Tale, Trolls), dizzying highs (Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado, the Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon trilogies, The Last Wish) and creamy middles (Shrek, Sinbad, Bee Movie, Spirit, first Puss in Boots movie, etc.) This looks to be more of a low/middle, but we'll see when the trailer comes out tomorrow.

the visuals look gross but the premise seems fine enough, will watch the trailer

Well some people used to say the same with Home back when the promotional images and trailers were released (albeit the visuals being the polar opposite as in very colorful), but then the movie was released and it was, as expected, pretty low with some pretty funny moments.
"Sparkle sparkle sparkle" bang!!
I guess you could say that the conductor felt a bit "Rust"-y.

I want to give this a chance, but my gut Is telling me this gonna be one of those "GRRRRRRRRRL POWER!!!!" movies. Also, something something patriarchy.

Why can't I just enjoy things anymore? :(

Outside of either American Dad and King of the Hill, Aqua Teen has been the most consistent show throughout its run
I can see that… I’m still on its first season, so I’m sure the laughs will keep on rolling until the last.

I honestly forgot how much of a retard Shake was lmao. Frylock was really the glue that held everything together.

And who can forget Carl?

"Oh man, I swear to fucking God, Fry-man, I'm so fucking pissed right now. Oh, and by the way, I hope you enjoy eating your own shit, because I'm about to rip your motherfucking throat out, and shove it so far up your ass, that you have to fart to fucking breathe, Fucker."
