Paul's wife doesn't have an "ethnic" name, so I'm not sure about the green card marriage idea. My personal theory (based on nothing, tbh) is that Paul was a relatively normal, liberal gun enthusiast pre-2016. Here he reveals that he joined the Marines to try to impress his dad, and even when he was injured and unconscious his dad came to germany to see him but did not tell him he loved him. He got s bronze star, couldn’t tell his son that he was proud. He also told him he was disappointed when Paul wanted a medical discharge and to retire as a result of said injuries. Paul continued to have a relationship with him but the last straw was when his dad told him in a conversation that he would rather live a police state than chaos, he agreed more with fascists than antifascists. I do feel bad for him here. (wrote it out for easy searchability in thread later on)
