has been for decades: creatively, morally, and ethically.
I think his hand is a scar from code Veronica. And I’m glad they got rid of D.C. Dickhead. He’s an awful voice actor. And yeah, his career is fucking over at this point. No company will wanna hire him with the risk of him leaking info.
the burned hand effect is easily from
when Alexia got him during their brief fight. before, Wesker's caught some flames all over, but there she gets his full arm. in the ending cutscene his face gets beat up but that didn't seem to carry over. there's wild speculation about an re5 remake because Excella Gionne's face appears on Wesker's screens at the end of re4make... but i still don't see a CV:X remake in the cards. to segue a bit, i believe i read earlier in this thread some posts wondering why CV:X was so popular (or maybe it was on /v/) but that game really
wasn't, so much as it was on dreamcast and dreamcast owners were desperate to justify their purchase of the console in any way they could.
as for DC Douglas, i'm of the mind that he's the only exceptional voice Wesker has ever had, made the character 'pop' so uniquely that it was profoundly 'resident evil', if that makes sense. the original re4 voice for Wesker might have been alright if they kept him, gave him some direction, but with how re5 panned out... nobody else could have delivered that astonishingly good performance. however, Douglas is a woke moralist and ruined his credibility with me many years ago. he's alleged, like so many celebrity actors, to also have used his status to prey on younger women. i take that with a grain of salt as the only source of that is a #believeWomen account on twatter.
Still waiting for a pic of the gangster costume.
If it even in it of course.
it's in as an unlockable from the bonus points shop. i did not save the pics, but they've been in /v/ threads. the pinstripes are thicker than the original. i don't know how to use 4chan board archive thing, whatever that is, but you could find it pretty easily i imagine, if you felt like it. alternatively, just go on /v/'s catalog and skim re4make threads.
It doesn't even review the games it just blandly recaps them beat by beat and then goes "yeah guys I love this game!"
Fucking hate tranny hunter.
So here's my summation of the game so far based off all the leak hunting I've done, plus a ludicrous amount of time in the demo. Base gameplay is pretty stellar, arguably better than the original, excellent combat and pretty great exploration. Areas have been given a bit more depth, new stuff to collect, lots of secrets.
Story and cutscenes are a straight downgrade. I don't have any issues with the new actors really, but all the dialogue has really bad 'Disney remake' syndrome where it has been dumbed down and simplified as much as possible. Lines of innuendo and jokes were changed to directly inform the audience exactly how you're supposed to feel and think.
And the cinematography is straight dogshit. Compare the Big Cheese pre-boss cutscenes and it's night and day.
if it's any consolation, sphere hunter is regularly mocked and derided in stream chats and on the steam forums, constantly being misgendered, having his male bone structure highlighted, his adam's apple pointed out, etcetera. it's pretty funny how nobody's been banned from the steam forum for it, too, given that he's apparently sucked enough dick at capcom to be featured in their marketing events.
none of the reviews can be trusted for information compared to leakers & fans. this is because capcom is pulling a squeenix: they want to harvest positive review scores whilst allowing none of them to talk about anything that hasn't been shown from the demo or the trailers. not even the usual disreputable shills like sphincter hunter can discuss the game - he even posted a video that was later privated at the request of capcom. everybody else enjoys the threat of being DMCA'd, of course.
before the leaks started flowing, i knew the game was going to be narratively unfaithful from the very first words i heard from Ada in the trailer that revealed her. then it got worse: seeing Salazar and Luis made it clear how butchered the casting was going to be, and eventually Saddler too. the visual redesigns of otherwise unique, mysterious and unusual characters would have left me speechless were i not dulled by the same thing happening in many other remakes. i've put a ton of hours into the demo because i think the gameplay will be exceptional, but that's all i want from re4make to begin with. i'm not going to speculate too much on BlackRock's involvement in this and that, because i'm just not versed in that kind of shit.
indeed, there were company leaks around this kind of thing... but capcom deciding to self-censor and gradually adopt a policy of being as mundane and inoffensive as possible with the RE franchise i would argue stems more from the
(unwarranted) backlash they received over RE5 and how
diabolically racist that game was (it wasn't, and several black actors for the game, including Karen Dyer,
rebutted those pricks).
