What are some other great cartoons that had nice video game adaptations?
I used to play these all the time, so let me unload some great titles.
1) Adventure Time Hey Ice King Why’d You Steal Our Garbage - Widely considered the best CN game besides Steven Universe. The game took an underwhelming Zelda title like Zelda 2, and used its base to create the perfect retro throwback and utilization of the AT IP. Music is also really good, with Party in The Clouds being my favorite.
2) The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy - You like Power Stone? The title is a fantastic clone with a superb roster for any fan of the show. You get your basics like Billy and Mandy, but also weird picks like Jack, Fred Fred Burger, Aris, Dracula, Hoss Delgado, and more. Weird Al does the announcer voice too, for what it is worth.
3) Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL - Honestly, probably still the best Smash clone? I enjoy that this title decided to mimic Brawl rather than Melee, creating a very fun SubSpace mode that, might be better than the actual Subspace? Character roster is great, but does feel outdated even for the time of 2011. Really wish this game got a sequel, and I know, we’ll get to it.
4) Multiversus - CN Punch Time 2 with more polish, but less heart. Rather than a CN crossover, you get a WB, though most of the roster is still CN adjacent so it counts. The game is the definition of missed potential with a roster that really ended up missing the mark. Gameplay is fine, but cool downs on moves have really irritated fans, and the lack of content is a huge downside.
5) LEGO Dimensions - It has toons so it counts. Dimensions was a fun experiment that clearly had loads of passion, but sadly got killed by its toy gimmick. In saying this, the game arguably had the best video game adaptations of Adventure Time, Scooby Doo, The Simpsons, PowerPuff Girls, and Teen Titans Go. As for gameplay, it is a LEGO game, but with some annoying pad gimmicks thrown in that they thankfully cut out past the story mode. Open worlds are impressive, and levels are well made, for the most part. It the the #1 autism game, giving us Sonic meets Batman, but I kinda love it for that reason.
6) FusionFall - A classic for me. This game would be unplayable today if not for the dedicated fanbase back in 2013. The game itself is a very polished MMO RPG starring all your favorite CN characters in anime form. And I mean everyone! Megas was in this game, so was Juniper Lee, they went all out to have even some obscure characters, though it is missing Cow & Chicken and was too old for Regular Show and Gumball, even if it did have Symbionic Titan. To play this game, you need to download a fan copy as it is gone now, and the main fan server was shut down by CN thanks to some Minecraft-tard spamming them with false Pedo allegations because the game didn’t have crafting.
7) NickToons Attack of The Toybots (DS) - This game was fantastic. It is just a simple beat’em up with tons of Nick IP. The game had a roster consisting of SpongeBob, Timmy, Jimmy, Danny, Tak, Patrick, Mr. Blik, Zim, Jenny, El Tigre, and GIR.
8 ) Disney Infinity - Being honest, only really played 1.0 as 2.0 felt like shit. Disney Infinity was another toys to life with potential and honestly a good start. 1.0 had some fantastic 3D platformer worlds to explore with my favorite being Monster’s University, but Toy Story and surprisingly The Lone Ranger were also good. It had a good level editor and worlds felt like playgrounds to find and collect things. 2.0 fucked this up though as it became a Capeshit game with skill trees. Given the poor performance past 1.0, Disney dropping their animated stuff for MCU capeshit and gay space wizards was a terrible move.
9) Batman The Brave & The Bold (DS) - An absolute stellar 2D platformer/ beat’em up. It had fun levels to explore with Batman and whatever partner of the week as they take on the colorful foes of the series, collecting capsules of various DC figures. You can also upgrade Batman to wield a lightsaber. Also, props for making Scarecrow a massive boss, it was super cool when first playing.
10) Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 & 3 - Nick Brawl gets a lot of spotlight, but some should be cast to these two titles. They are good Mario Kart clones that have an interesting pit-crew mechanic to give the player various stats and abilities. The cast and level designs are also pretty good.
Sorry, used to play a lot of these games. If we added SpongeBob, I can share a ton more.
