guys, who of you had slave owning ancestors?

My ancestors came to america through that famous immigration center island long after slavery was a thing and considering they were probably european peasants before that yeah probably no slave ownership unless they got in that weird specific one I found out about that had slaves owning slaves owning slaves but no black people were involved with that it was europeans and asians just fucking going slaves all the way down and also having sex and kids with the slaves so who the fuck knows what the hell I got in me if anyone in my family tree was involved in that.

YouTube Poop frequent flyer Ainsley Harriot did that genealogy show and found he had slave owning ancestors:
An Ainsley YTP for reference, and to lighten the mood a little:
While this probably relates to mixed race ancestry, slaves themselves could be manumitted and then themselves become slave owners through owning or operating workshops or farms that usually used slaves. One famous example was Toussaint Louverture , leader of the Haitian Revolution, and for a time Governor General of Dominique until Napoleon had him captured, was born a slave, but worked his way through professions such as miller, muleteer, planter with a small plantation of thirteen slaves and finally General and Governor General before dying a prisoner in France.

Everyone that isn't a guido enough to have ancestors only after Ellis Island has slaveowner ancestors. The only question is if you can name specific ones.

I have one (a woman) that owned a few slaves in West Tennessee and am a descendant (not direct) of the Lees.

I have none I know of, but considering how ubiquitous the institution of slavery was across the world throughout most of documented history and prehistory, the vast majority, if not everyone, can probably trace their lineage to a slave-owning ancestor if one were to go back far enough.

Although, unless there's a means of observing our distant ancestors' lives and learning whether they owned slaves, we may never know for sure.

In the context of “recent” American slave owners, no.

Virtually all humans alive today though are descendants of some sort of power elite which certainly enslaved others at some point.

Even people who think that they were farmers then urban working class through and through. At some point a king or chief would have impregnated a mother whose illegitimate offspring would have been raised as one of the other poor.

One cannot be blamed or praised for the actions of their ancestors. We should learn from the past, but not fixate on it in the face of progress.

Awaiting autistic ratings.

My Great Grandpa was on rear line anti partisan duty in Ukraine from '42 to '43 until his unit got overrun by the soviets so it's pretty likely he was ordering around slaves from time to time. All in a days work I guess.

I don't know if any of my ancestors were slave-owners, but I do have family members on Papa's side who were in the KKK since its inception.

My family used to own a pretty big cotton plantation in Georgia, before the Civil War when 5 of the men from that generation of my family died fighting for the Confederacy. The cotton money my ancestors made ran out sometime in the 1930s, and my great-great grandparents wound up selling the "big house" and had to live in the barn the slaves used to live in.
I remember my great grandma talking about how her mom cried while washing the walls with lye soap to "get the nigger stink out", and the entire family was so embarrassed that their fortune had been effectively erased. The land they used to own, they were now sharecroppers on it. As you would expect, a bunch of the men wound up joining the Klan after the war, and my family's involvement with the Klan didn't really end until the 1980s.

Something I've always wondered: given how many "house niggers" were half-breeds as a result of Da Massa bringing a nigger bitch into the house, I wonder how many nigglets running around today are distantly related to me.

Lot of kids larping in here. As for the question no, my ancestors have been here since before the revolutionary war, but were Scotch Irish hillbillies and mostly farmers or Presbyterian ministers ( I have a lot of this in my family tree). Certainly not part of the slave owning aristocracy in the south

>Tells actual family story from being wealthy southerners to insanely poor
>some faggot says "larping kids" in response
>is also Irish untermensch pretending to have roots here since before the Revolution.

Gonna press a big fat (X) for "Lie" on that one, paddy. Especially with the whole "Presbyterian" bit, given how Irish untermenschen prefer to go with their bastardized version of Catholicism. And how most of your ilk didn't even show up until the Antebellum period (1850s or so, since you Irish cunts have little concept of time). Where else did Lincoln get most of the cannon fodder for razing my homelands to the ground? Oh yeah, that's right, your actual ancestors fresh off the fucking boats.

Lol Christ. It's Scotch irish from Ulster in Northern Ireland, they were lowland scots who got moved over to northern Ireland in the 1600s and then emigrated heavily to the US in the late 1600s and early 1700s. They were mostly protestant and Presbyterian and formed the vast bulk of the revolutionary army. The Irish you seem to want me to be were from southern Ireland and WERE mostly Catholic.

Laughable how poor your grasp on British, early American history, and colonial immigration patterns are.

Very cute, paddy, but nobody cares about this "WE WUZ DA TRU COLONISTS!" narrative you're asspulling.

I swear to God, you're just as bad as dark skinned niggers with the "WE WUZ KANGS!" shit.

Fuck you're an idiot. I guarantee your ancestors that supposedly "owned slaves" were probably scotch Irish themselves and not pure English American or whatever the hell you seem to think you are.

No, they were fucking Germans.

And you say "supposedly" like that changes something. Not going to powerlevel to disappoint some pale-skinned nigger that belongs in a labor camp.

Most Murricans are Germans descended from those who didn't want to be conscripted for seven years of physical torment in Prussia's uniwar.
