May I butt my way into the conversation again, I’ve just finished Fetish: the book - which uh - I have incredibly mixed feelings about, but I absolutely do not deny the amount of fetish and sexualized content in this book to the point it made me sometimes extremely uncomfortable. Especially those tit illustrations Jesus, why are they there why.
But it gets worse. I haven’t seen this posted anywhere here (my fault if it was, overlooked) but Sam commissioned a member of the community to draw a comic of a chapter.

And his characters when I read the book - Every one of them when they see a body they just go “omg I’d wanna fuck that so badly”. What the -, not everyone goes sex mode all the way like you just because they see a nipple. This is above beyond unrealistic. Why are all the characters so ass horny???? Like that scene with Lucy when she just wanted to get at Celi because Lucy was lying on her and Celia was unconscious. And that one with Yeshua and Mystique will forever haunt my dreams. Jesus.

What’s frustrating me most about the discord right now is that at the smallest bit of bad critique that points out illogical stuff, world building issues or character/story issues everyone comes running in like a mob and defend it with the most basic “WELL ITS NOT MARVEL YOU CANNOT EXPECT THE CHARACTERS TO BE ONE SIDED OR SOMETHING” - that one came from Ericka - and immediately have to hush down this person, whereas the points of critique people give are valid. But no, this book cannot be anything else but perfect, and they come explaining it with the weirdest possible shit so it doesn’t seem like there’s really an issue.
Literally for one bit of critique there are like 5 people who come running and throw around fits like immature children or fennah comes in and writes another book in the chat explaining all his decisions in detail and then - for some ass reason the staff suddenly loves to do that - shits on marvel and modern movies, comparing how he did it much better (he literally blamed a person who didn’t understand the behavior of the characters because they act so ass random whenever the plot needs it that it’s all because of marvel and their easy-written without depth characters. … what the fuck it’s never your fault is it, they don’t get it BECAUSE OF WATCHING TOO MUCH MARVEL!!!)
I swear he has some grudge against these films, did they insult him or something??
Next one came saying that the species is completely inconsistent in behavior, again pointing out like the other person that they act the way in what the plot needs them to - that kivs are sold off as carnageous yet whenever plot armor demands it they are nice and merciful to each other.
Fans didn’t respond to that well and came shitting that “eVeRyOnE iS dIfFeRenT” and then Ericka came telling that sentence above saying that “pEoPlE aRe cOmPlIcAtEd iN rEaL lIfE tOo”

Some of these characters descriptions are incomplete or the characters were never actually given names
Walter Whisk was elephantine with a stout body and a beaverish face. His ears were long, and the tusks that framed his jaw were sharp and black. Salazar, Voice of the Frontier, looking at his peculiar beaked face, his electric eyes and mane of feathers ranging across the palette of blue. His wings were a cloak, matching the Lockettian waistcoat fastened down his middle with shining erillion locks. Salazar held himself much in the same way as a noble bird, with a short, sharp silver beak raised snobbishly high. With the claws decorating his meandering wings, the Voice shifted through a bundle of papers, humming with the depth of a monstrous eagle...his cloak of feathers trailing behind, the black talons at his feet

He wore a tanned leather jacket, white trousers and decorated his bare chest with a necklace of fingerbones. The Inker was half the height of Harlow, moving with a hunched, skulking posture down the street toward her, bustles of paper in hand.
(Savier) He stood with the strength and power of a bipedal ox, strands of grey beard hanging from his chin. His fur was jet black and decorated with swirling patterns like sapphire jewels, the exact shade of his eyes, horns and nails.
Polly slowly lowered herself. She stood at approximately fifteen feet. Her arms were much longer than her body, but most of them folded nicely behind her back leaving only four in proportion. She had an incredibly long tail which thrashed across the water as she stomped forward with large, meaty legs. Her face was a collection of pretty eyes, a mix of moth and bat, and her body was hefty, heavily feathered, and a thorough mix of purples...causing all of Polly’s twenty-two limbs to descend in threat.

(Mylo Bennet) His face was that of a tired old anteater with crooked black horns and warm walnut eyes. He staggered about, busying himself with his stock, clinging to a green hooded robe lined with white wool. His fur was a mix of greys and blues, like winter’s sky. “Oh dear…” he mumbled to himself, patting down the ice around his stall with a flat racquet tail.
Tommy, a rather squat fellow with a striped badgery complexion, remembered his name and snapped to life.

I feel like this book is incomplete without certain illustrations. If Sam did illustrations of the Kivouack as a whole and the Underbirth, then he should've done illustrations of the parts of the Kivouack and the businesses the Kivouachians work at too. It would've taken up less space in the book describing places they end up at. Long ass descriptions also throw off the course of the book.
Not all of the characters got an illustration either and Sam better not say "they're not important" or "they die" because Patches is an unimportant side character and got one along with Saxxon and Methusa died and she gets one. Characters like Salazar, a voice, also don't get one. Also what's the point of the character descriptions if they have illustrations literally immediately after their first appearance.
And if all the Kivouack stuff gets explained in the first book, what's going to be in the second book if it's all been explained? More overwordy/cringe descriptions? More fetish content? Is the book just going to be shorter?

Actually considering basically everyone in his community is a furry and I've seen people thirst over these characters, they're probably too busy getting off to these characters to realize.
