Same company for ripping off clients by selling overpriced laptops just for gags and laughs. Oh, did I mention they sell laptops with coreboot replacing BIOS/UEFI?
Pal, you are advocating for some other winblows linux version just with a different name. Any distro based on Debian is sufficient for total newb in this field.
Also, why in da fuck you are suggesting downloading some pre-build game executables in .sh containing god only knows what. Learn fucking Wine or play through Steam Vulcan Proton API. Don't download any shit from the web for being braindead.

Calm down, lol. I wasn't expecting a reply so .
"PopOS = Windows Linux version" is the most exceptional thing I've heard this year. PopOS is well known and if there was any Windows-style fuckery going on we all would've known about it by now.
I don't know why your anus is getting tight over coreboot. I've never used coreboot but I haven't ever heard anything bad about it. Whatever your misgivings about coreboot are I doubt it's the Great Satan you're making it out to be. Reminds me of the systemd/init holywar, bunch of fucking autists losing their minds over the software people choose to use. Linux is about choice until someone makes a choice the autists don't like, then they get triggered and sperg out about it like they're trannies at a biology convention. Linuxniggers getting this worked up over stupid shit is why the Linux community is full of faggotry and one of the reasons I hesitate to recommend Linux to people, because I don't want to expose them to the Chernobyl levels of retardation that occurs with regularity. The Linux community deserves a thread if it doesn't have one already.
And coreboot isn't required to run PopOS so it's irrelevant anyway, but if it means that much to you, care to enlighten us why you're roidraging over this 76anon?
I'm afraid you don't know what a "total newb" is. A common affliction of autistic Linuxfags who never interact with real people in the real world. The average Windowsfag is far less knowledgeable than you realize. I figure most Kiwis are above average in that regard, but nonetheless I intended my advice for the average person with minimal understanding, and I can tell you for a fact that some distros (including Debian) would be more difficult for them than others. (Even Pop is pushing it because the Gnome desktop is very different than the standard Windows desktop metaphor, and that might be enough to dissuade them from using it.)
Also, why in da fuck you are suggesting downloading some pre-build game executables in .sh containing god only knows what. Learn fucking Wine or play through Steam Vulcan API. Don't download any shit from the web for being braindead.
I said you start them with a script, I didn't say they were a script. All of his scripts that I've seen are plain, unobfuscated Bash and anyone with the requisite knowledge can see what they do.
And running "pre-build game executables" is what you do with literally every pirated game/software. You're doing it when you run FitGirl installers. You're doing it when you run CODEX, EMPRESS, and CPY cracks. You have to decide whether you trust the cracker/repacker, because playing pirated games is risky business. Once upon a time FitGirl and CODEX and EMPRESS and CPY were newcomers and people had to make the initial decision whether to trust them, because that trust has to start somewhere.
Linux gaming has grown a lot in the last few years. It's no surprise to me that a repacker targeting Linux gamers has shown up on the scene. He has posted hundreds of repacks, gets plenty of downloads, and I've yet to see any complaints. I've used his repacks and nothing untoward has happened to me yet. So I felt comfortable making the suggestion.
But a suggestion isn't a command. If someone doesn't trust him then by all means they can buy the game or download from a more well known cracker and set it up themselves. He simply provides the convenience of finding a crack that works on Linux (because some don't) and having done the setup for you. I suggested him with the assumption that those reading my post are intelligent enough to make the decision whether to trust him for themselves.
I also just realized you're a newfag with a negative reaction score at only 30 posts, which I guess explains everything.
And show me another storefront that gives away installers that you can keep forever. If there's a game who's practice you don't like, don't buy it. If we collectively do that, they'll stop selling those games.
While spyware is a large component of the modern Microsoft Experience I would probably lean more towards the integrated Cortana and Microsoft App Store aspect, since the phone-home and always connected mentality is a large part of modern gaming. And Although I am a Win7 stalwart, it is admittedly a niche OS nowadays, even though fundamentally there is nothing wrong with it at all.
Even if it does result in a small influx, that would mean Linux distros getting... all the autistics who are technically confident enough to remain on a no-longer-supported OS, but who were also very attached to (old) Microsoft products, out of habit or necessity.
Honestly, I'd prefer Windows keep them, because (1) if they need to run stuff like Photoshop for professional use they're better off not bothering with FOSS alternatives, and (2) wherever they go they will be autistically screeching, and the GNU/Linux "community" has enough of that already.
Funny, considering that most Linix distros are "updated" by literal autists. And trannys. So many trannys. Enjoy your OS with less marketshare than a 14 year old Windows build, and STILL breaks random shit with every upgrade.

Ah yes, I'm sure this 1.86% of Steam users who still use abandoned operating systems will be very upset that Valve simply doesn't want to cater to a promile of insane lunatics who just cannot let go of the fact that operating systems become obsolete and will fight until the very end for Valve to change their mind and continue supporting that 1.86% of users and spending unnecessary amounts of money and effort into doing so.
Or alternatively, the Steam Survey is manipulated by Valve so that they can excuse killing off perfectly good operating systems because they are being paid my Microsoft to do so.
This is like complaining that someone cannot play Steam games on their Windows 98 machine with a Pentium MMX and Voodoo 2 graphics, you have a perfectly fine and working computer and those pesky corporations want you to throw it away. Hardware, as well as software becomes obsolete with time. Stop living in the past, let it go and move on.
There is nothing objectively wrong with Windows 7. Yes it's a 14 year old OS, but there aren't many noticeable consumer end benefits compared to Win10 and especially 11. That would be like scrapping a perfectly fine running 14 year old car because it's "obsolete". That may have rang true 20+ years ago, but nowadays the resource hogging and spyware of modern OS design, "Software as a service", and mandatory internet connectivity is such that people are only fucking themselves when "upgrading" to a modern setup.
They stopped making games, their talent didn't leave they shifted focus to maintaining steam, developing hardware and keeping their legacy games working. Alyx was a good showing of how they haven't lost their edge entirely.

A bunch of important writers left IIRC but as for your second question, valve hired the team behind firewatch to write for Alyx.
The game they were working on before they got hired was this:
And they had blogposts dedicated to negro hair physics and everything...

I don't even see what in that trailer was supposed to be impressive. You wander around static abandoned ruins, is a supernatural aspect supposed to be implied? Also you appear to play as an unmuscular black woman with a similar partner, and we're supposed to believe they're just climbing all over Egypt doing an endurance run without any visible supplies. Sure. I'm guessing they were hired based off of the overhyped Firewatch since the aspect people supposedly loved was the plot because it had a twist or something, but outside of a small part of the games market I don't think it's impact was long lasting. Why did Valve hire these people in 2020? They had a history of hiring nobodies that they saw talent in like with the portal team but there seems to have been no evidence these guys were keeping up any semblance of innovation.
The only thing "wrong" with Windows 7 is that Microsoft stopped updating it to support new CPUs even before its lifetime ended. For example anything that needs the AVX512 instruction set won't work on Win7, even if your CPU supports it.

Yeah, Win7 was fucked when MS decided to go all-in on the Win8/Metro/Cortana disaster. Artificially stunting an OS and putting an arbitrary EOL to drag users kicking and screaming into a new software package has been their method of guaranteed revenue for decades. With everything migrating to subscription based and always online (365 suite, etc) they're even doing it with their legacy enterprise customers. They don't want to be fucked/cucked into supporting an OS long after their planned EOL like they had to do with XP. Many "dumb" terminals like retail POS systems and ATMs still running off of XP. MS even "unofficially" supported legacy XP updates until a few years ago.
More like scrapping a perfectly fine running 14 year old car because it's frame is rusted and there is no one to properly maintain it so that it's structurally sound, so to avoid dying in a car accident you get a newer car in better condition rather than taking your chances and driving the old one.

And there hasn't been a single car from 2009 that didn't have some sort of planned obsolescence built in. There was also no car from 2009 that had support for Android Auto added in without some Bubba-tier hacks.
Basically your car allegory is shit because it's as "artificially fucked" as Windows is. This kind of whining happened back in 2014 when people were bitching about XP being deprecated first by MS and then everyone else and then everyone moved to 7 except for a few schizos.
Stop acting like this is the end of the world because it has happened before and it will happen again. Even Linux suffers from deprecation, it's the nature of software development.
I can't believe I found out about this on Kiwi Farms, I knew this day would come and I always dreaded it. Losing Windows XP is a giant pain, fucking losing Windows 7 will cripple my library.
I'm pretty ambivalent about them dropping win7 support since on one hand I really wish Microsoft would stop making new versions just to stuff them with spyware, but on the other hand - as you said - deprecation is just part of software development. It's not always trivial to continue to support a specific operating system version indefinitely, and when less than 2% of your userbase continues to use it it's a sound business decision to cut it eventually. Especially when you take into consideration vulnerabilities that inevitably remain unpatched or get discovered after it's been deprecated. Every company that continues to support their software has done this at some point and it's not exclusively an issue with Valve.
You can point the blame at Microsoft for their shitty business practices but I don't see any reason to shit on Valve for deprecating an OS version over a decade old, as cucked as they are.
Windows 7 was the last best operating system with next to no bugs and crashes. 10 and 11 are OS with bloatware, tracking and other unnecessary things that bog down both performance and Internet speeds.
Oh, the reason is simple. They are a big corporation that abandons an old OS so autists see it as a violation of their freedoms or some other bullshit and screech into the sun rather than finally do an upgrade to unbloated Win10/Win11 or move to Linux.
It's the kind of autism that led to the creation of MyPal, and we have a thread that documented the retardation that comes from the types that refuse to stop using XP because it was "the best OS ever".

-Do you have any benchmarks that show that Win10 is so much slower compared to Win7?
-Do you have any proof that this bloatware spyware yadda yadda cannot be removed? (spoiler: it can be removed)
-Do you have any proof that Windows will magically bring back every single piece of bloatware you've removed overnight?
Every time it's either Chinese whispers or anecdotal evidence, or worse, ramblings of people like Mental Outlaw that are taken as gospel and spread around the web.
Seriously, this thread is full of bitching about how bad Win10/Win11 is and how great Win7 was and how evil Valve is yet there is not a single person that backs those claims up.
You can properly debloat Win10/Win11, and it will take you less effort than trying to hack Win7 to make it keep supporting newer software. Either learn how to do it or switch to Linux if you hate bloatware/spyware and big corporations so much.

Once again I see the same buzzwords repeated.

The lack of an actual answer given to your questions reminded me of when I asked that same user why they're still trying to keep Win7 going when they needed help getting a dll for something. So far we've got "I hate Windows 10" and "Windows 10 is fucking trash", very constructive responses.
