Oh this is going to be a nightmare. If you keep taking blood/ivs from the same area of the arm over a long enough period of time, your veins will sometimes reroute around that area, not to mention irritation from meds and potential scarring. Not to mention whatever damage the sepsis caused, or whatever issue that caused the need for stomach meds.

As another human who has worked in the health care industry and personally tended more cases of sepsis than I care to recall, yes: blood and wound cultures are routinely done in cases of suspected sepsis but 1) the results take days and 2) they can come up negative because the patient has been on antibiotics (and you know pooners always are ). Sepsis is a clinical diagnosis (i.e. you don't need any lab work to make the diagnosis, even though a white-blood-cell count is helpful) and is to be treated clinically.
