Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Just as a clarifier, Ray Stevenson's character in the new Ahsoka series is in fact, not Joruus C'Baoth, and has been confirmed to be playing a new character named Baylon. But I wouldn't put it past Filoni to bastardize Joruus at some point, and reduce him to another pinata for his OC Ahsoka to beat the tar out of.

And they’re probably going to take 19 books worth of NJO content and put it into one movie, which is absurd.
Nah, they're just going to take the name so that when people look it up on google it'll come up with their shit instead of the original works just like with Tales of the Jedi.
^This.

As utterly disgraceful as Disney lifting the "NJO" moniker is, it's incredibly unlikely that they'll incorporate any of the prominent plot elements from the actual books.

There's no way they're going to bring over the grimdark, bleak, dark fantasy tone of the series, or have the characters wallow in introspective or philosophical dilemmas about faith and religion. They aren't going to incorporate the Vong in any way that would make them recognizable, because:
  1. They've repeatedly shown a profound reluctance to introduce any new major characters that are of an alien species (ones that aren't mascot fodder, anyway), as the movies and nearly all the shows have demonstrated with their human-dominated casts
  2. The Yuuzhan Vong were themselves an in-universe analogy for religious dogma and sacrificial cultures like the Mesoamerican Empires of South America, which the limp-wristed focus groups over at the Mouse Headquarters will be too terrified to cast as the antagonists in fear of offending pussified modern sensibilities
You then, of course, have the explicit violence and graphic depictions of warfare on offer from the series, which will most certainly never make it to a feature film...including many intense battle scenes where children as young as 14 are killed off in the brutal ash and carnage of interstellar war. And of course, you have the labyrinthine lore and history behind the Vong, the otherworldly concepts like the living world Zonama Sekot, the slow-burn character growth of Jacen Solo (who spends half the series as a pacifist and the other half as a recovering Prisoner of War-turned Hero), and rolling tides of complex naval warfare and intense philosophical discussions that would overwhelm, confuse, or outright bore the same slow-mind pigfats who can only be prodded awake through seasons of Disney Plus fodder with cameos and brainless action scenes.

No, I would bet my entire life savings that this is another Tales of the Jedi situation, in which Disney used the name from an existing storyline, and absolutely nothing the fuck else from that storyline. The prospects of taking even most of NJO's narrative aspects--which were controversial and polarizing even at the time, as I've previously covered on this thread--are ridiculously slim.

And that alone fills me with some relief, because I'd rather Disney keep their talentless, greasy mitts off my favorite book series, thank you very much.

I love War Zone, it's actually my favourite Punisher film since my childhood.
Great to see another War Zone enjoyer. While I personally prefer the casting of Thomas Jane from the first one, the violence and action of the Stevenson film are far superior, and even featured much more entertaining villains.

No one will ever get my collection of EU hardcovers and paperbacks. I don't care how much I could make selling them on the internet. I've flicked the corners of those pages more times than beans get flicked on OnlyFans
Based. I'm just happy I finished collecting my "must-have" materials when I did, and that I'm taking my time burning through all the material I still haven't read from the rest of the timeline.

Something tells me that I'm going to need the aide of superior material more than ever, with the oncoming storm of awful content on the horizon.

I know that in this thread, we've had a long series of arguments and debates about the current shitshow that Star Wars has become, and we're all welcome to it. But in regards to the newly proposed movie with that wooden donkey Daisy Ridley's Believe or Not levels of bad acting, I have only these words to say: Fuck 'em! Just fuck 'em! Won't watch, and why would I? They don't want my money, and so I'll happily oblige these pricks in that respect.
My dude, I've been in this camp since The Force Awakens. I've literally skipped out on all the subsequent films, and haven't regretted that even once.

In fact, just telling people out there that I've never soiled my eyeballs by exposing myself to The Last Jedi is enough to fill those people with a surge of envy.

Thomas Jane one has it's great moments too. My personal favorite being the flaming logo at the end. But yeah, Stevenson one is way better for me. Action & Violence was kino, Stevenson's look is my personal favorite, the film has a special atmosphere to it which I liked, & Jigsaw actually looked great, specially when compared to whatever the fuck Netflix was trying to pull.

If you want an idea of how cucked the Star Wars fanbase is, think about how many times the fans were called racist sexist bigots for the pat 10 years, then realize this is what the makeup of Star Wars Celebration 2023 looks like:

Stevenson was the spitting image of Frank Castle from the comics, so he gets massive points there. I also think the tone of that movie was more to my palette when it comes to Punisher; there was a light sense of camp and absurdity to the violence, like the filmmakers were trying to go for an 80s Stallone or Van Damme film. Which, I think, is a perfect fit for the guns n' gore atmosphere of the comics.

Frank himself was dead serious, but the violence he was enacting bordered was over-the-top and comic book-like, which I actually prefer over making him overly "realistic", like every other action movie out there.

His name is Baylon Skoll and the woman's name is Shin Hati. They are named after Skoll and Hati, a pair of wolves that chase the Sun and Moon in Norse mythology.

...Jesus Christ, of course Filoni named them after that.

7. The 'fan' reactions on YT have convinced me that Disney Warz fans are the lowest scum who will literally like anything and I now hate them more than Disney.
This is why you should treat Disney Wars the same way you would treat a dog shitting on the carpet

Everybody knows that Disney Wars and the people who throw themselves into defending it, and still are angrily calling out actual fans as not really being fans because they couldn't appreciate the genius of TLJ, are not actual fans themselves. it's all actually just about resentment.

Actual SW material was "too White" and "too male" for the people who pretend to like Disney Wars. The (mostly-true) stereotype of the "Star Wars Fan" prior to 2015 was similar to that of the Trekker; somewhat spergy White guy. "Folx" who now pretend to like Disney Wars because they "see themselves" in it don't actually like anything else about it. Disney Wars "fans" seem to defend literally anything and everything DIsney puts out, no matter how gray and mush-like it is and that has nothing to do with any appreciation of any sort of creativity. They defend it because they "feel seen" by it, and they feel it advances their sociopolitical and cultural agendas, as they colonize what they see as previously all too white patriarchal space.

The body of legacy Star Wars content is so voluminous that you'd realistically never run out of it. Books, video games, comics, etc. Thousands upon thousands of hours of material. You could safely ignore Disney Wars and just pretend it doesn't exist and have a better experience.

It might just be people interested in things that aren’t necessarily in nu-Star Wars. Nothing changes that Star Wars ratings and viewings are tanking in television and film. But that’s just the optimist in me talking.

That's what I do. When I hear about Disney Wars, it's from other people who watched it complain about how terrible it is. Similar to how kings would use a taste tester to see if the food was poisoned.

Briefly touching upon the Punisher conversation: I've liked most of the live-action casting of Frank Castle. Thomas Jane, Ray Stevenson (fucking love Rome), and even Dolph Lundgren (guilty pleasure, that old Punisher movie). Jon Bernthal, though, well... I find his screams and grunts to be hilarious.

His name is Baylon Skoll and the woman's name is Shin Hati. They are named after Skoll and Hati, a pair of wolves that chase the Sun and Moon in Norse mythology.

He can't keep getting away with this.

...I...
That... has gone beyond parody now. I'm not sure if I have a reaction image or .gif for that that would properly describe my thoughts on this matter. I'll see if I can find one.
Wait, I found it:

Or as I would like to call it, the perfect description for modern-day Star Wars.

Huh. Well I guess they are the new teachers pets.

I guess but why keep supporting people who hate you anyways? It's the thought that counts. Even if you hate Disney Wars going to Celebration gives Disney money.
Because no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. The people who complain "dude all new Star Wars is shit" probably watch more than almost all but the most dedicated consumers. When your entire life centers around hating Star Wars, then your life is still focused entirely on Star Wars, Disney has your attention and likely your money. Which is what they want more than your praise. They have you addicted to Star Wars and talking and obsessing over it no matter how horrendously bad it gets.

Anyone who professes to really dislike Star Wars, and is being honest about it, is probably done with the franchise at this point. Not just the new stuff but all of it from start to finish. You might take a peek here and there at a new project if something truly interesting is announced. But at this point people are deluding themselves into an unhealthy obsession like an addiction. Where the outrage machine gears up for every new Star Wars release giving people a new show or movie to captivate them and foam at the mouth over. Rather than finding an actual hobby or life that they enjoy.

Point is that this franchise is clearly a negative part of most fans' lives. And seems to be a source of misery and depression for many of its viewers.

Solid post but you missed the demographic who laughs at consoomer retards while also trying to help them walk away. Also Auralnauts fans.

There was a time before TLJ dropped that I thought Star Wars could be saved. Then its was possible for it to be saved. At this point its done. There is nothing left, the damage is done for our lifetimes. Now I just want to see how bad it is, and how much worse it has to get before a Fancuck wakes up and does something else with their time.

If you are still consooming, you are just a buck broke cuck who likes giving money and attention to people who hate you and killed something you love.

Slight aside, I've never known if these "griefing" threads were about grieving the loss of what people considered previously good franchises, or griefing people who still liked them, like you'd grief someone in a videogame in order to piss them off. The OP doesn't help clear things up either. Very confusing.

Since the intent is unclear, I'll just say I never understood Star Wars.
It seems like professional wrestling where it just activates some latent gene present in certain people's brains (and unlike with professional wrestling, rarely even in what appear to be fairly non-retarded individuals) that causes them to become obsessed.

I recall seeing Star Wars as like an 8 year old (which was decades after they came out to be fair) but at the time there was no hint that they were supposed to be special.
In some places they were a little gross and shocking, especially for a kid, but otherwise they were relatively forgettable.

The universe isn't that compelling, it mostly amounts to magical random "rule of cool" shit people have tried to slap logic onto post-facto to create the impression of grander lore and intent, the story barely reaches generic and serviceable.
The whole thing seems like a shallow exercise that was mainly designed to show off cool cinematography tricks of the time.

What causes it? Is it an issue of age? Are these mostly just 50 year old men who saw Star Wars as kids when other movies weren't doing that, and that's why they think they're special? Then other consoomers glommed onto that?
It's such a nothing, even the originals are just movies like any other. And now in modern day the brand functions as nothing but globohomo-approved bugmanchild feed.

Bit of column A, bit of column B. Slight column C for general discussion.
