Once he apologized for including the Newmaker case I completely lost interest. It made the concept disturbing and I like my horror to be disturbing.

What I find interesting are the responses regarding the To Catch a Predator segment. I don't know if these folks are too young, or just don't really care, but there have been a lot of criticisms regarding the show and Perveted Justice even during it's prime because their methods would fall under entrapment, thus making them more likely to be thrown out in a court of law, not to mention that there have been accusations that PJ has been less than thorough (arguably even negligent) when it comes to their methods.

Honestly it is pretty shit article.

1. Pedophile is a catch-all and has been for a while. All this is splitting hairs.
2. No one cares about journo opinions. They all push limits and break ethics.
3. It could be entrapment, but doesn't give examples on how. A more interesting point would be how the police use TCaP as a shortcut to circumvent rights like the 5th amendment by having a civilian question the suspect. I don't think that a detective could do what Chris is doing without needing to mirandize them first.
4. It is understandable why they would be, due to the weird incestuous relationship between the press and police, with the press taking the lead during the sting. As for Murphy, which the author listed, it wasn't PJ that tainted them, but the high profile suicide and media circus of the DA's suicide. If the sting went without a hitch, then those guys would have gone to trial.
5. One acquitted after 5 years of trial doesn't sound like an L for TCaP. Also, "Heck hath no fury like a mommy scorned." please suck start a shotgun for that line.
6. Lots of companies settle out of court, especially since the show was partly responsible for the guy's suicide.
7. The DA was actually guilty, go figure.
8. A non-profit in a very niche field went broke after gaining infamy, go figure.

Like, if you entrap someone into committing a crime about drugs or theft or something, there's a lot of ways in which the situation could be misinterpreted, the person could be doing it out of a "oh shit what did I get roped into, I'm doing this once and then I'm out, never again" feeling, they could be in money trouble and see this as the way out, or simply become villains of circumstance. The opportunity makes the thief, they say, and every single soul in the world is liable to be tempted by the possibility of money. They may not have sought it out, but the right promise of profit in the right situation can make all but the most righteous, law abiding, God fearing men amongst us into criminals.

I shat out a pretty detailed near-OP of his old antics all the way back on page 5 with a bunch of archives and screenshots. If anyone who has been paying more attention to him over the last couple years would like to swipe that and add new info or just hijack the resources provided in it you have my blessing to do what you will with it. Someone should check his chatlogs. Literally anyone who thinks TCaP was a net negative for society is a closet pedophile.

I understand having concerns about certain aspects of the show, but to say that the show is an inspiration for your series about a dystopia that usually involves thoughtcrime? Fuck off. TCaP went to pretty good lengths to make sure that all the predators explicitly knew they were talking to children, and had strict rules of engagement. Nobody forced them to sext children, and to meet up with them *in their house* after explicitly making sure nobody else was home. A lot of these fuckers were absolutely deranged too.

There is literally no reason to be afraid of being outed as a pedophile by TCaP if you are a normal person. Normal people don't try to fuck 12 year olds. Anyone 'worried' about being entrapped, simply project themselves on the predator and see themselves trying to fuck children.
