There are a surprising amount of rappers with street fighter or mortal Kombat references, which I would have never understood without discovering Phil. And not just in the English speaking sphere, I also know at least one popular german rap song full with it ("Chabos wissen wer der Babo ist" from Haftbefehl, don't even try to translate it, it is hard enough to understand in german).

Now that I listened to this rant, DSP continues to prove that he's still a gatekeeping faggot.

Phil acts like this is the first celebrity that has been used to promote a fighting game. He seems to forget that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 literally had a Snoop Dog stage, that Lupe Fiasco played Daigo in Street Fighter V, and that actress Jamie Lee Curtis actually plays fighting games and even snuck into EVO at one time. These companies wouldn't do it if it didn't work.

And even if that isn't the case, I would imagine the a majority of people who want to buy Street Fighter 6 were already down to play it after the first trailer dropped and the copius amount of gameplay footage that has been peeking people's interest by showing the visuals and new combat system. They were down to play it since the beta. Fans were already ready to play the game. Lil Wayne promoting the game is just a strategy used to attract normies.

And his "stay in your lane" shit is a reminder that Phil is still adopting that oh-eighter mindset, where they gatekeep the fuck out of the FGC, then complain later that there's no new players left to keep it alive. Phil, you aren't a member of the FGC anymore. We ran you out. It's why Justin Wong doesn't talk to you, it's why Alex Valle never talks to you. It's why no one talks to you. It's why Jaha laughs at you, and Mike Watson still talks shit about you, even to this day. You're persona non grata now, an untouchable. Stay in YOUR lane.

I wish they had asked Phil about the push-ups on the Side Scrollers interview. Not that it's "important", and of course we all know he didn't do them, but I'm still curious as to how he would have responded. Usually it's very easy to predict how Phil will respond to things, but since he was a bit more forthcoming than usual during that interview, I wonder what he would have said.
Maybe something along the lines of "that was my DSP character, it was just a joke"? Even though he was completely fucking assblasted when he didn't get any money for the imaginary push-ups.
