The racing drones are powered by ultra-high capacity capacitors - ultra caps - which give a ton of power but have very short runtimes and near zero storage potential (but very fast charge). Again, I would agree a up to less than a year ago; in the past six months since I got back into it, there's been some huge developments in drone batteries, along with increased transmission ranges & lower latency for high-definition video; they're up to something like 10-15 minutes now for the drones big enough to carry a Go-Pro (or grenade), and can transmit HD images from the flight optics to the operator. The glitchy low-res FPV footage is from last year's drones; they're getting better almost exponentially now, although Ukraine don't exactly need HD visuals for controlling a single-use drone.

But a reusable drone with enough power & resolution to pull off dive-bombing runs? I can see those being the ones put together now with the good shit. Regardless, in 10-15 minutes a fast kamikaze drone can cover a pretty good distance (since it doesn't need to RTB), and still has enough juice/manuverability to chase down a fleeing vehicle or soldiers. Add in an urban/close quarters environment, and being hunted for 10-15 minutes by an operator blocks away by just one drone is fucking terrifying as is.

Russia is a petrostate; up to the sanctions of 2022, Russia could easily throw that amount of disposable cash around, they had enough of it to not put into their armed forces and instead spend it on gigantic palaces for their leadership. It's maybe not enough money to influence a major US political figure but for the average far-right (or nutty far-left) European political candidate for the EU parliament or something, even six figures is plenty.

It's very possible Russia funneled money via various means to political groups across the world. In fact, I would think it would be a failure on their part if they didn't. The question is how effective they were in doing so. A bunch of round about anonymous donations to America First may yield more cum detection but does little to develop local assets. Alternatively, a bunch of anonymous donations to fringe wierdos could mean they can show up at political events and cause a ruckus, creating the impression of wider tension in domestic politics.

Even before the 2016 Russian election conspiracy, it was widely known that Russia had office workers in wage cages shitposting management defined beliefs on American social media. Likely true for other nations and languages. If this is the quality of influence it isn't much to be worried about. In Germany, Japan, and Korea it helped that we had people on the ground willing to work with us in return for aid and they were able to largely keep things normal under the standards of their nations. The most we really changed in Japan for example was executing some of the worst POWs and writing a new constitution for them (which they've largely abided by for decades now), we even allowed them to keep their emperor instead of killing him or dissolving the whole thing. We didn't try to force Christianity on them or try to overtly warp their entire culture. In the modern day you can argue they're our GREATEST ALLY in Asia.

Russian gobbled them up during its colonialist days. Personally, I don't see it happening because if you look at most of these regions they are filled with Russians. Most of the populations are ethnic Russians. They don't have a big enough population to stop the Russians from continuing to control them. Unless the Russians get really weakened. Even then it's not like each little territory is made up exclusively of the people who lived there through history. It's mostly just Russians and then a bunch of different groups. Even if they banned together, they wouldn't have a large population. I just don't see the Russians ever losing control of what is basically a bunch of different countries that make up the Russian far East or even the Ural area.
