The only thing the two films really have in common is a therapist/psychoanalyst and sexual deviancy. While Portnoy is an Unreliable Narrator, Beau is nuts and so is his mother. Beau is afraid he'll die if he cums, as his mother told him his father died in this way. Portnoy does not have that issue.
