Any site that works by consensus is going to tend to get things wrong for a while due to popular opinion going one way or the other. I have suggested elsewhere that, moving forward, NO INDIVIDUAL get a thread in Multimedia anymore. My logic behind that is that it always seems to create an enormous amount of drama (The Masterson situation got absolutely ugly, with several people acting much like @Twitter Is Cancer did with the outlandish claims of "protection") when it comes time to move it, and there are plenty of other forums to discuss people deemed non-cows. Looking through the forum list, it appears that the only person left in there is James Rolf.

Well, yeah. The issue is when content creators like Nick exist and put themselves out there on the Internet, there's like a 70-80% they are a cow or will be revealed as one given enough time and attention. It's just an effect of who decides to put themselves forward in this way. In Nick's case, the mask fell off in a perfect storm of personal issues, substance abuse, and a financial windfall which made him feel invincible.

In Nick's case, it seems like he had somewhat of a reputation for being a slightly unhinged poster on Facebook long before he started streaming, at least according to accounts like this one:

Nick got his start participating in Facebook groups devoted to The Biggest Problem in The World podcast featuring Maddox and Dick Masterson, and then The Dick Show after that show imploded. In these groups, Nick was renown as a particularly foul-mouthed, occasionally unhinged, poster. As with most things related to Dick, degeneracy was front and center with this crew— a collection of drunks, druggies, homos, trannies, and other autistic weirdos.

The group was actually pretty funny, although it was never clear how many of the posters were shitposting, and how many were actually fucked up lunatics. A lot of late 00’s /b/tard vibe going on (before /b/ just became the worlds leading transexual porn forum), and Nick’s input as the resident deranged lawyer fit in perfectly.

After Maddox filed the famous lolsuit, Nick started his YouTube channel to walk through it and amuse his Internet comrades. However, his parents were aware of it almost immediately, so our foul-mouthed hero entered his no swear words mode to avoid their disapproval. The show took off, and the façade of the chad trad dad streamer went from there, which is the only Nick most of the audience knew.

It looks like there's no evidence of any of this Facebook drama anymore. Certainly I haven't seen anyone post any of it, though people have posted his political takes he'd posted on his wall (where he would have known his family could easily find it). Maybe four years ago, when this stuff was only a couple years old, it could have still been found if it was known about or if people were actively documenting Nick in the way people are now.

Honestly at the time Nick did do a lot better and granted he wasn't the best at law but at least he did have his heart in the right place at the time. That said, the cause was Vic but over time many of the ISVW crowd cared more about drama than about Vic winning and if they did show interest it was to prop themselves up.

And going off @Himedall All-seeing Waifu's comment. a lot of people got their big break off the Gate's and WW, and many of them got exposed for being talentless hacks that use slightly more eloquent works to get people hooked. You got a lot of smaller ones such as Senpaiwashere and then there are the big ones like TUG and YF.

Nick was ahead of the curve and could have reached continued to have had amazing success to the point that he wouldn't need to rely on the ideological wave to continue being on YT. But he did as lolcows tend to do once they get too famous, have their mistakes and fuckery pile up until it reaches critical mass and explodes. What makes Nick's case more unique is that he saw how Lolcows fuck up and was given every lesson and warning on who not to behave least he become a lolcow and he still did it. if the euphoria of riding the waves of an ideological movement is a drug then he made the biggeest mistake and got high of his own supply.

That's very true. Mob mentality will do that. When the mob is right a lot of good things will happen but the opposite is true. I think I have to give him that, because many people latch onto the culture wars to generate content, but not everybody succeeds in the way and degree he did. Presentation and demeanor are important, and he resonated with a lot of people. For every guy like Nick, there were probably dozens of low-effort Youtubers kvetching about SJWs and not really getting anywhere.

So his channel didn't make you feel like somebody was rubbing your nuts with a cheese grater, and he could be quite funny from time to time. But I never understood people listening to his live stream for hours on end. He was never *that* entertaining -- and he was overly fond of the sound of his own voice.

But I tend to feel like that about anyone who'll live stream for hours on end. I'm not listening to three hours plus of Joe Rogan, and Rogan's genuinely charismatic. Learn to summarize or clip me the highlights.
