Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

GUYS. You're justifying the "bitch about wokeshit" tagline and getting WAAAAYY off topic. You're fucking kiwis, laugh at the autists that aren't you and move the fuck on.

So has anybody else watched this thing yet? It's called "Agent Elvis".

I saw the first two episodes and I liked it. Never was a huge Elvis fan but I damn sure can appreciate a kickass, respectful and above all fun celebration of him. :heart-full:

Watched Disney's 1953 Peter Pan. It was really hard not to think stupid shit like "oh man this wouldn't fly today", I hate when the kind of woke social conditioning takes over. I just wanna enjoy watching the movie and not think about modern politics.
That's your cue to take a walk then. Hit up the local bar & grill, enjoy some food. Have a smoke (if you want), have a drink (if you need) and remind yourself there's better things to use your energy on. Thinking about how much internet people have power while watching an old classic is not one of them.

He is, he's apparently doing it intentionally and aiming for a world record in farting or something. And he makes it far, 8 characters are eliminated before him.
And on top of that aside from farting his character is dumb and a jerk and significantly less likeable than Owen.

His introduction is telling enough.

This shit wouldn't be half as good if Robert Valley wasn't on it. Man made both the best gorillaz videos and the best episodes of Love Death Robots. And Love Death Robots isn't even good.

Has anybody seen the Disney show Miraculous? On paper, the concept should be a total turn-off, a Disney show with a strong independent overly-competent girl superhero with a bumbling boy sidekick, but I caught a bit of it recently and I couldn't help but like it. Both of the main characters seemed to be written as surprisingly likable, and the "cutesy" art direction was actually appealing to look at.

I'm curious if this is actually a decent show or if I've somehow been bamboozled.

Honestly it sucks if you say you want more action male cartoons again. You get automatically called a sexist but I mean we have constant female action shows the past 6 years. Do these people want the same shit for another 6 years. I'm not even saying stop making action girl shows. I'm saying we could have a an equal amount for both boys and girls.
I feel you man, but don’t let those people get to you. Just ignore those idiots on social media, their words mean nothing. Just focus on your stories and ideas.

It was decent at first, but from what I heard, it’s gone to shit now.

We have a thread on the creator, make of that what you will.

The skintight suits on minors makes me uncomfortable. :/

but I'm asking anyways because i'm seriously wondering if I was just astronomically unlucky in my pool of reference or if literally nobody cares about these shows save for their creators.
There are good female led action/animation tbh, the stuff now is just made for hugboxes and online optics. Japan is usually queenshit here again with stuff like angel cop and gunsmith cats but there are western shows like Aeon Flux and Xena warrior princess which are fucking excellent. The ugly colorful hugbox shows just pander to feelings, try to portray the creators as "people who care" and dont even portray women authentically. That last point is possibly the worst and again Japs are better. Rally Vincent and Minnie May are empowered women, theyre really knowledgeable and they kick ass but theyre also very attractive and do womanly/girly shit, like go on dates, do housework, splurge on television, hangout at cafes, wake up late and tons of other things. They act and behave like normal people, which i think is sorely missing from all these mary sue characters who are so unlikeable as theyre made specifically for hugboxes of people who are unhealthy, unhappy and pathological who want their pathology portrayed as good so they can feel good. Its something which goes back to male and female biology i feel, people can authentically recognize what is male and female behavior and none of these mary sue characters are female, theyre male characters written as women.

Bamboozled, but not really in the SJW way, just a the show is shit and the main character is a mary sue obsessive stalker for like 4 whole seaons way, and the creator undid all of a character's progress when taking lead or smth in season 3 because he based her on his childhood bully and so insists this 14 girl is irredeemable and flanderises her further, while the 45 yo big bad villian and abusive father is probably gonna get redeemed.

The entire fandom seems to just hatewatch it for the past few years now.

ALSO the main character is literally the love child he made for him and his chinese ex girlfriend, and Marinettes in show parents are basically one of his self inserts and his ex. 🤮 The dad character is even named 'Tom'.

The trailer reminded me of Black Dynamite which is one of my favourite adult animated shows but lot of people told me it will be like archer which is not my thing. The whole monkey thing also reminds me of hit monkey which was a good show cause the monkey was a better character than the assassin guy although it sorta fucked up the ending a bit. If its like Black Dynamite I will definitely watch it.

I just want to bring back time when animation was made for children instead of adults who behave like children.
Made for all ages but primarily children. They had so much horror and emotion n shit, you seriously expect a modern kid to watch brave little toaster or the prince of egypt? Even the intro of Batman TAS, a kids show, looks fucking dark and mature as hell. What can you expect, children are shit now and adults behave like children. At least in the 90s children were quite mature.

This talk earlier about canceled shows remind me of "wander over yonder". It suck when one of your creations is basically held hostage by big corporations. I don't think the show is very well-liked on this forum but I found it very fun and sincere.

Disney still referenced it in their dogshit show "chibi tiny tales". The fandom got excited about it but all I care about is wether graig mccracken will regain the rights. s7ljgredaze91.jpg
EDIT: and while I'm sperging, I thought amphibia was at its most endearing when it was just about Anne adjusting to her new life and bonding with her frog family. Her human friends needed a bit more development for me to be totally invested. Especially marcy; Sasha actually get to become a main character in season 3 while marcy is replaced by some Bill cipher rip-off that get defeated by a pull of a plug.

I honestly loved Wonder over Yonder I don't care if a lot of people on here don't like it.
She's also in Hilda as the titular character. Finding out that she's a non-binary nutjob still makes me sick to my stomach.

Mel Gibson won't be in it after being backstabbed by Wyonna Rider.
Sucks that Hollywood corrupted a Christian girl and she became non-binary. I don't watch Hilda so I didn't know she voiced the main character.

Did anyone ask for a Chicken Run sequel? I remmber watching it when I was real little.

Chicken Run was a great movie and one of Aardman's best. It's not perfect as it has some flaws, like how the climax felt a bit rushed for time and I still have more questions about Tweety's motivation of turning chickens into pot pies. Still, it's a fun early-2000s romp that I remember watching it a lot as a kid when it aired on HBO and it strongly holds up today. I don't really mind it having a sequel, but I'm also very cautious about it because I'm well aware that it might end up being shit, especially when Wyonna Ryder backstabbed Mel Gibson and that a poor Christian that turned into non-binary is now going to voice the main character, both being warning signs of how much the sequel might potentially suck.

I wish these people would stop with the self-inserts and seek help.

If there's one criticism of modern animation I agree 100% with it's the lack of variety. Kids get comedy and the occasional action show, adults get...comedy, but with sex and cursing. The anime industry is so much more advanced in what's available for people to watch. Want a show about playing chess? Becoming a professional chef? Killing God? They've got you covered and then some.
