Duviri is finally out if anyone cares.
It's
alright, but as is DE tradition, day one is broken in nasty ways that make you wonder if they even tested their game, moreso without their developer cheats enabled.
E.g. Waypoints in the experience bounties sometimes don't appear at all, meaning you'll have to either quit and leave early or scrub a good chunk of the map until whatever it was you were told to do appears.
I've also heard of the cycle gamemode randomly deciding not to progress to the next stage, which is a problem in an endless gamemode where you're meant to grind it out for long durations. Giving me early sanctuary onslaught PTSD at the thought of it.
Personally, I liked the drifter combat and random loadout pick'n'mix system, though the former is obviously their next attempt at recycling another games concept and/or
testing a draft of Soulframe's combat. It's not done well right now, but it's satisfying enough that with just a few tweaks and improvements it could be great.
For example, the enemies you fight as drifter like to stand around a lot instead of attacking you, leading to a lot of awkward moments where you're waiting for them to strike just so you can parry their attack. Or the fact that the archer enemies can miss their attack, which makes projectile reflects inconsistent and more for style points than anything.
The roguelite decrees are great, it's just a shame that there are so few of them meaning that you'll be seeing repeats very often. This also has the problem where you can run out of decrees with no evergreen option to pick from, once you get all of them in a single run it just pops up a message saying "Decrees Exhausted" and gives you nothing more.
As an example - the binding of isaac offers you a generic, weak item if you manage to exhaust the item pools in a run, which beats getting fuck all like in Duviri right now.
Orowyrms are piss easy, I was able to beat one as hydroid with a subpar modded dex furis that I haven't touched since 2016. Disappointing, will have to style on it with MK1 weapons next if I can figure out how to get them into duviri.
TL;DR - Pass, buggy and rough update. Wait until their revision patch where you won't lose an hours of progress because of a bug.
