Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

I'm glad I decided to pick up Elden Ring. I enjoyed Breath of the Wild, but I don't have a Switch, and buying one just for Tears of the Kingdom didn't seem appealing. Elden Ring really scratched the itch I had for a fantasy open world, and I was really surprised, and blown away a few times, by how beautiful that game is. I was underwhelmed by the final boss in Breath of the Wild, the difficulty wasn't there. I do appreciate the harder battles in Elden Ring, and the weapon system with no durability downsides. Combat is deeper, and defeating certain bosses/enemies really feels like a victory.

The weapon fusing does seem really cool though, maybe I'll get a chance to try it one day. Did they fix Princess Zelda's horrible British accent? Jarring voice actor, hard to listen to.

so I got stuck on a shrine

and then looked up a youtube video:

Turns out my answer was right, but I used the wrong piece, despite that being something that should work, but it didn't because the developers only wanted me to do it their way. Fantastic.

No, still the same. It's so obviously fake, were they really unwilling to pay for a slightly better VA? Honestly almost all of Nintendo's English voice actors are shit, I assume the casting directors are told to make it as cheap as possible.

Some absolute fucking lunatic called TotK ableist because there's no trigger warning for Link losing his arm, and getting a transplant that he didn't consent to.
Naturally, she is the exact kind of person you'd think she is.

This is such blatant attention whoring, I'm amazed.

Really though, why are there so many games recently with superpowered prosthetic arm heroes? Off the top of my head there's Sekiro, Devil May Cry 5, Zelda TOTK, all from the past few years and all Japanese. Is that part of the diversity & inclusion quota for shit like Black Rock's ESG score? It's not that interesting of a concept.

Hi-Fi Rush, too. Huh, weird, I hadn't noticed.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain despite doing absolutely nothing for the open world genre still managed to have some impact on the game industry, I guess.

Edit: I have to say, for a game that is supposedly a 10/10 best game ever created masterpiece, I'm seeing an awful lot of people not playing the game and instead coping/defending it in very weird places.

It's somehow become a dominant discussion on both a Simpsons meme group and a gun meme group I am a part of.

8.5 on metacritic atm, but they are known for deleting 'spam' reviews so idk how trustworthy they are, especially when this gem didn't get deleted

nobody bothers to review anything properly, its all either a 10/10 or a 0/10

The one critic review that even dared to give it a low score pretty much said everything I said, but they gave it a 6/10, which even though I didn't like it I still have to admit its better than a 6/10

BotW took me a few hours to have fun. For whatever reason this took a few minutes.

I can't take anyones opinions on this game seriously at this point. It's been hyped up/shit on so much I can't get a straight answer on what the fuck it is or if it's actually fun from anyone.
It's BOTW with new runes, which is fine. If you like BOTW you will like this. It's the usual Nintendo method of "we tried a thing, people liked a thing..we are gonna sell people more of that thing." I am happier to spend 70 dollars on that rather than Bravely Default 2.

Maybe my favorite clip from Tears yet.
"The Gang builds shit in Tears of the Kingdom"

Oh yeah that boss totally sucked. It was the same lame shit from Twilight Princess without the cool sword duel.

Ganon is only fun when he has intelligence and isn't literally a mindless pigman.

Their positivity is the other side of the coin from your negativity. Both are probably missing the booty for the ass.

Finally got the first two travel medallions, will get the third tomorrow when I get to the gerudo highlands. I'm enjoying how you can stick stuff to the backpack korokand send them flying, but now I'm wondering if the Korok mask is still in the game as I need to upgrade my storage. I'm not sure what the Windwaker style old maps point to yet. I can see how some people won't like it as it doesn't have nonstop cutscenes that would be better as their own movie, but I am enjoying the game. The map is like triple the size of the botw map (or maybe 2.5x depending on opinion) so there's a lot to do. The well finding quest seems a little odd but it's probably to get you to check them for interesting secrets.

New Zelda is really good and it's a great game and all that shit - But I'm sick and tired of these fucking horses not respecting my slopes. Nigga, I put this plank so your horse ass can walk up it, but no, you keep neighin' like a bitch. And, I can't ride them off a cliff like in skyrim.

I am going to make a catapult to fling my gay ass horse into a volcano or something.

It's an easy way to represent that your character has gone through heavy physical trauma while not actually impairing then in any way and tacking extra mechanics on top. Also in japanesse games it kind of links up to the whole chuunibyou thing. Basically it's rule of cool.

The whole time I was playing the game I was just thinking about how they missed such an obvious opportunity to add the hookshot as a rune or whatever. Here is a design concept I just put together around the idea of a physics based hookshot that would fit in with the sandbox style design.

Yes I use paint to lay out concepts

I was planning to put together a playable prototype in Unreal but this kind of physics stuff is beyond me. If anyone is actually competent at programming and wants to do that DM me

I agree. @Betonhaus could you explain that point a little more clearly?
Based on my experince of the game and what's in it: the only thing that would make sense if people hate it is if they are comparing it to a game that is a complete opposite of TotK, which would be along the lines of a 100% linear game that tells you exactly what to do every step of the way, and the gameplay is just ad breaks for a marvel avengers style cinematic masterpiece.
