World of Warcraft

But I thought soyfaced fatass nixxom was telling me WoW was in the best state it was in since Legion?
So have Taleison, Bellular, and I think even Preach. They're all hyping WoW but they're also saying shit like "people only hate it because of Shadowlands and that's unfair."

The game is probably in a pretty bad place for all of them to be saying the same shit, and while they might pretend to not like WoW, all of them depend heavily on Blizz to not die to keep their channels going. I wouldn't be surprised if there were tons of other people like them, they're just the ones that popped up for me.

I'm just happy I have no desire or care to come back. The game is just too small these days in scope.

It's also easy for these guys to say DF is good because it looks (from me as someone who doesn't play) 100% better than SL which was absolute rock bottom for the game. Literally everything that could go wrong did. Looking back there were at least a few nice things you could say about BfA and I'm sure DF is like that too. I can't think of anything I liked about SL, but that's probably because leveling sucked so much I bailed before I hit 70. So you've got these guys who hitched their wagon to WoW 10-15, maybe even 20 years ago and now we're getting to see some amazing cope from them because there's the barest crumbs of quality for the first time in several years.

it seems classic is getting some traction again with hardcore mode. for those in the unkown, hardcore is a addon you can install in classic wow that "perma kills" your character if you die and it has caused alot of drama and ausitim in the community. streamers such as Asmogold and Savix has taken the opportunity to stream the game again for clout but has also attracted the attention of "grifters". what is a grifter you may ask? well, its someone who pulls one or many mobs to the streamer and reset their aggro so the mob will attack and kill the streamer, ending their hardcore run and to be forced to start over.

since streamers are the golden goose of the community and hardcore mod being a addon to the game and not something impleaded on the server itself, you can ask a mod (tranny janny) to appeal the death so the streamer can keep playing their dead character. it has gotten so bad, blizzard has taken notice and started banning grifters since the streamers kept crying about them.

(the ban in this video is fake but they did get banned for real a few days later)

before you call these grifters "based" they just as pussy whiped since they all use discord to plan their attacks and has banned people from their discord for racist and sexist comments posted there.

it seems like hardcore mode will just be another short lived fad since people keep breaking the rules constantly (even the mod team of the mode is doing it) and changing it on the fly to suit their needs. never the less, it will be interesting to see how far this drama will go just to bring back relevents to an already dying game.

Blizzard actually announced official hardcore servers that are coming later this summer. Its going to be really good interesting to see if people are going to grief in them considering how much harder it will be.

I think the worst feeling to have towards something is apathy. Apathy means nothingness and that is what I feel towards DF, I hate the dragon models and the story sounds honestly dull. It's just dragon member berries and if you have to invoke nostalgia for an expansion then you have already lost.

I saw the videos from Preach, Bel and Telesan (whatever his name is) and it is absolute cope. They should have foreseen this shit happening as players said it only takes one bad expansion. That is what fucking happens when you lead a game on goodwill for 7 years. Warlords was trash as was BFA and Shadowlands was the straw. Don't fucking scream at your audience because their patience has ran out.

Warlords was the beginning of the end for me as it removed so many reasons to interact with real people and whilst Legion was fantastic, they still did not address their core problem of a small world. I have been playing FF14 for years and that is a game that understands pay off, one of the major stories stretches 9 irl years and ends fantastically. Wow in comparison just feels so dated with a really restrictive game engine, ironically Yoshi P was approached about this and states it's core problems being that you cannot put cinematics in or cannot develop the engine with technology.

hardcore mode in an mmo sounds fucking retarded and these hardcore servers will go the way of season of mastery.
I get it in the sense that it's an alternate way to play a game that appeals to some people that might not require a lot of additional development time. As one example, Runescape/OSRS both offer an ironman mode (no trading with or assistance from other players, as well as other restrictions) and a hardcore mode on top of that (previously locked you out entirely when you died, but later changed to downgrade you to regular ironman). Some players feel an extra sense of accomplishment by doing everything themselves and/or doing it without dying, so providing official support for that playstyle isn't necessarily a bad thing. You could even offer rewards for the main version of the game by achieving certain things in hardcore mode to entice players to give it a try, like a special mount for hitting max level as a hardcore character.

What is stupid is catering to idiots that don't seem to understand that anything goes in an MMO, and if they're not prepared to lose everything to a stupid death (whether that's caused by other players or not), they simply shouldn't play it. Reacting like that is exactly what the griefers want, and it only encourages them to do it again. Whining to the mods to ban them makes these streamers look much worse, and it's a great way to completely kill interest in what could have been a shot in the arm for WoW's declining community.

dunno, the number of people that are into that type of sweaty gaming isn't that big, so at first you'll get a lot of people checking out NEW THING before peacing out. hardly a boost of anything. worse casuals are more sensitive to bullshit, die for stupid reasons and they're more likely to leave then just start from scratch. it also puts any rewards behind it out of reach of most casual collectivists, and if you can't collect everything what's the point to even start? you won't be able to buy carry runs for shit you have to do on your own (unless you buy a service doing it for you, but officially sanctioned account sharing is a can of worms I doubt even blizzard in their endless stupidity wants to touch).

Rannan Korren is the worst fucking character ever aborted in WoW history.

(Yes that's actual dialogue in game. No that's not my meme either.)

Actually no, scratch that, Danuser shit out the worst character in video game history. I can't think of a character I a-log more than this guy.

Well yeah, I did say it was a niche playstyle; someone estimated that only about 10% of RS's playerbase chose to play as ironmen, so the number choosing hardcore is necessarily even smaller still. That said, while I'm not privy to the entire game development process, I imagine it wouldn't be terribly difficult to code in a flag for a hardcore character and then have that character be deleted on its first death. Maybe a little bit of extra interface work to add in a "graveyard" feature where you could view all your previous characters and see how far they got.

As for rewards, never underestimate people's willingness to put up with bullshit in pursuit of a shiny thing. There would have to be reasonable limits for rewards, no clearing a raid on Mythic or anything like that. If I were designing it, I'd put a reward track with a new cosmetic for every ten levels with a nice variety of items: pets, titles, transmog, capping off with a mount at the end. And maybe for the ridiculously dedicated, a feat of strength for getting one of every class to max level as a hardcore character. That way, even if you couldn't pull off a no-death run to max level, you could still get some rewards.

But again, this is Blizzard and they'll fuck it up no matter what.
They just announced that Arthas is returning. Would have made more sense LAST expansion.
Jesus, just let the man rest in peace already. I know you've run out of ideas and all you have left are memberberries, but that story ended over a decade ago. Enough.

Post appeared oddly and I thought you said 'Evil version of Arthas'. Somehow evil troon Chromie managed to be shittier. I hate knowing that's a thing they've made.

the WoW weens are like 10.1.5 is so amazing but when you really get down to brass tax it seems like it's just catering for weens to not leave by giving them memberberries. Wow, an alternate murloc scenario, how amazing would that have been 10 years ago.

I say this in other threads but catering for nostalgia is the ultimate form of bad writing because it is locked and not evergreen. It also has insanely quick run through time and the results are never long lasting, it's oh we got 500,000 subs this month. That audience is the most fickle there is but the cat's out the bag now.and the bad faith with the players that left is done now.

How are server populations, I have not played since the beginning of SL and even then the EU one I was in was dead. It was 95% Horde. If your server populations aren't great then players will leave due to being able to find no one.

That's the problem I'm having right now. They keep trying to FOMO the shit out of mounts and trading post goodies and all that shit. The problem with fomenting FOMO is that once you miss out on something, and therefore can no longer perfect your collection, your motivation to collect ANYTHING in the game goes waaaaaaaay down.

So everyone involved is a homo? Sounds about right for WoW.

Why though?

I keep coming to this thread to be surprised by how dumb shit has gotten and it never disappoints to exceed expectations.
