I'm just sick of nostalgia for any decade, regardless of what one thinks of any given decades. I could go on but I don't want to derail the thread. The 2000s are a literal cultural paradise compared to what we have now, not good at all.
Life of Black Tiger which is a PS4 game.I mean what is the modern game he's ever reviewed? I think the latest he's ever gone Is Sonic 06 from obviously 2006, but can anyone tell me if he's ever gone further for an AVGN Ep?
That or his Earthbound or R.O.B The robot reviews. The latter is genuinely one of my favorite game reviews of all time, It's genuinely hilarious from start to finish filled with some great one liners and shows the peak of James acting skills and reviewing abilities and editing. James 'was' genuinely objectively talented at what he does and it's really sad to see how far he's fallen from grace, In my eyes anyway. His Castlevania retrospective remains as probably the best video he's ever done.
Up until now, I had no clue Anthony Logatto had a KF account@A Log Ah thanks, crazy to think how bad that is for such a recent game.
The Earthbound episode was very good but I've always hated the R.O.B. episode and it should have been much shorter. The part where he grabs the Mario doll to fight R.O.B. is insanely cringe. That or his Earthbound or R.O.B The robot reviews. I get you but its hard not to be nostalgic for older times with what a relatively shitty decade its been so far, people are understandably pining for a simpler time, it's that frustrating feeling of people not knowing what they were missing this whole time.I'm just sick of nostalgia for any decade, regardless of what one thinks of any given decades. That's what I thought when it first came out, but that was before the average AVGN episode was a bloated mess of skits that don't work and failed jokes so it probably looks like solid gold. The Earthbound episode was very good but I've always hated the R.O.B. episode and it should have been much shorter. It's weird that the AVGN 100th episode had predicted bad things to come being the Screenwave era. That's what I thought when it first came out, but that was before the average AVGN episode was a bloated mess of skits that don't work and failed jokes so it probably looks like solid gold.

Thing is, the 100th episode was supposed to the the series finale of the AVGN entirely. So fittingly he wanted to go out with a bang and I honestly enjoyed that episode a lot, and even a few episodes passed the 100th episode were still very fun and enjoyable to watch, up until the ET review which was in the AVGN movie. Kinda makes sense since all episodes before the 100th, he only once, a single time referenced ET in the Halloween episode but only with an evil stare shaking his head at it. So it was presumed not to ever be touched by the Nerd, but that might have been the turning point to slowly shifting into Bimmy when ET was being more and more referenced in his post 100th episodes. Then it culminated into what we see today with his obvious forced rage which is definitely cringe compared to his older works. It's weird that the AVGN 100th episode had predicted bad things to come being the Screenwave era.
Weird that Bames originally want his movie to be his first ever full-length feature as a filmmaker in hopes he can achieve his goal and even be the host of the Oscars at some fine point in time, but that said movie failed so hard that he completely continues to make videos. Even after the ROB episode, he's still done more episodes (albeit less to focus his eggs on the AVGN movie while he's focused on You Know What's Bullshit, Monster Madness and Board James), but are sadly more cringe.Thing is, the 100th episode was supposed to the the series finale of the AVGN entirely. Let me just say that if this is going to be the case, then the next year 2024 will be a very, very interesting year for the former AVGN crew and many of Cinemassacre fans and former fans.I feel like a #changethechannel level controversy is upon the horizon
Probably around the 20th anniversary will we see the true death of the Nerd
Believe it or not, Superman 64 was only 9 years after the original game's release, compared to Sonic 06's 10.5 years.Completely new releases don't fit the AVGN character, James isn't like the nostalgia critic where he releases content each week, the episodes are his special series so the quality needs to be maintained which makes it more insulting on how poor they've been honestly, unless he does modern games at this point i don't think it would work. I mean what is the modern game he's ever reviewed? I think the latest he's ever gone Is Sonic 06 from obviously 2006, but can anyone tell me if he's ever gone further for an AVGN Ep?
Don't forget, his review of Independence Day for PS1 was his first PS1 review and it was in 2007. The original game came out in November 1996. By the time his review came out, it was only 9.5 years old. In comparison, Superman 64 would break the record the next year in 2008 for the most recent game he reviewed with exactly 9 years.Believe it or not, Superman 64 was only 9 years after the original game's release, compared to Sonic 06's 10.5 years.
I tried Ducktales 2 on my NES emulator and I could not get into it the same way as the first. Ducktales was more fun and even had an amazing soundtrack (especially the Moon level). Ducktales 2 is ok but isn't as memorable as its predecessor, not even by a long-shot.Ducktales 2 is an example of a game being very good but still not as good as the predecessor.
the OG Japanese version of Mario 2 is nothing more than a sophomore slump being almost exactly the same as the first, except being more challenging. As a last ditch effort, Nintendo released Doki Doki Panic under the actual Mario 2 namesake.I actually disagree that Ducktales 2 isn't as good as Ducktales - it's pretty much on the same level. The issue is that it doesn't really bring anything new to the table, especially if you compare the succession of Super Mario Bros - Super Mario 2 - Super Mario 3 and then of course Super Mario World. Ducktales 2 just comes off like an add-on; same with Chip'n'Dale 2 - clearly Capcom had a "if it ain't broke..." philosophy.
