I believe a few other YTbers (Emily Baker and Kurt) can cram a few legal concepts into normie head, as an exception, but I think it only proves the rule.
Now his biggest fans don't have a basic understanding of the law, or logic. Person goes missing, Sally is a suspect. Sally plants a bunch of endangered plants right above where she buried the body. Police notice freshly planted, endangered plants on her property. Police get a warrant. Police dig up the body. Sally gets dragged off to jail saying "But you can't do that". His audience has legal knowledge as broad and deep as a sovereign citizen these days.
This is what happens when you cater to "the bottom of the barrel." Yes, free speech is great and should be promoted, but his entire chat is now a bunch of sovereign citizens shit posting, who also berate guests when they come on. This bottom of the barrel audience has also infected other Nick related creators like Good Lawgic.
In a stream the other night where Joe had Dr. B as a guest (woman who got famous for leaving the Democratic party, then ran for NH Governor -- Joe couldn't even do a simple google search on her), the chat literally was just sperging out, calling her fat and every other name in the book because she didn't agree with Joe. She even stops to tell Joe she's never seen a chat that insane, and her audience is much different -- her chats want intelligent disagreements with facts. She tells him when she sees people shit posting in her chats, she blocks them. Joe accuses her of wanting to be in an echo chamber -- she says that she gets criticism all the time and welcomes it. She just doesn't tolerate shit posting and spam. Joe can't comprehend this because he is so worried about the numbers that he'll allow anything.
Nick has to remind every guest who comes on don't read chat, saying chat is brutal. Is that not embarrassing? Your audience doesn't know how to behave? This is why he has the same shitty guests on all the time now. When Nick had Kyle Rittenhouse on, the level of retardation seen by chat was next level.
SIDE NOTE: You could tell Nick didn't even prep for the interview because Kyle was very short in his answers because
Kyle's going through a lawsuit! Then Nick asking him "Balls or No Balls" -- Kyle had the look of "Why the fuck did I come on this show!" because I'm sure he and his legal team assumed a lawyer would be professional. Color me shocked if Rittenhouse never goes on his show again.
Compare Nick to someone like Emily D Baker. Both with major followings, but both grew their channels and chats differently. Her mods block people in 5 seconds if they shit post in chat. While her chat might not be "free speech" like what Nick preaches -- she's been the most to grow since the Rittenhouse and Depp trial. EDB started around 225k at Rittenhouse. EDB now sits at 723k -- Nick stagnantly sits at 470k give or take. Maybe keeping assholes out of chat and actually covering trials like you give a shit brings in more subs? I don't ever remember EDB going off bitching about covering the Murdach trial, screaming she's bored, while still collecting superchats.
We're now seeing lawtuber Dani Ahn Direct get strict with her chats, going the EDB route. In a stream during the Lori Vallow verdict, Dani said she didn't want fights in the chat and she'd block people. You could see who came from Nick's audience because they all went full retard yelling free speech. These idiots can't comprehend that a YouTube channel isn't the government and a creator doesn't have to tolerate their infant behavior.
My entire point: When you cater to "the bottom of the barrel" --- you eventually become "the bottom of the barrel" yourself, and we've seen that slowly happen. It's why we're all here. We've watched him fall to the degenerate levels of his own chat, thinking he'd still be loved by all. Those with a brain and basic etiquette see the trash he and his show have become...
bottom of the barrel.
