Titanic tourist submersible goes missing with search under way

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Myself and I'm sure many kiwis knew the moment this story was a thing that the vessel had exploded. You can't tell me right now OceanGate checked for metal fatigue, something extremely important when you constantly dive to depths like that.
The retards didn't even use metal, they used some carbon fiber retard bullshit that is even worse.

I can believe it. A implosion like this would generate a very characteristic noise, and there is no way that the north Atlantic where NATO keeps watch isn't full of sonar microphones to pick it up.

It's hard for me to believe that the mothership didn't have a hydrophone or passive sonar operating during the "mission", but then again they said they didn't hire a bunch of submarine vets because they're white and old and a bunch of coked up rich psychos and some dumbass zoomers and millenials who have never seen an operational submersible aren't the type to think that maybe they should be listening in for signs of distress so here we are. Yes, any veteran sonar operator listening in on the hydrophone would have heard that noise and known what it was since such things are part of their training.

If their first attempt was to fly across the Grand Canyon, then hell yeah, I would laugh my ass off.
More to the point, the Wright bros invented the airplane.

Unlike these guys. Bathyscathes and such have been around since the 1960s. "This is an experimental vessel", they say. No, vessels have been constructed that go twice as deep as the wreck of the titanic. This fucker made a substandard deathtrap, and made an excuse for the inevitable when it would ultimately happen.

This incident is more comparable to Florida Man dying when his homemade glider made of tent materials and pipes crashes (in 2019). And yes, I would laugh my arse off at him, and this current bunch of fools.

Now I must kill myself...

"50 year old white guys" as the company described the, would also be engineers at their peak earning potential, Given everything else about the company, I find that a more reasonable explanation than "wokeness" as some people, (not you,) are suggesting.

I've been entirely obsessed with this story since it broke. Among all the other things, this has really shown how far respectable, mainstream news orgs have fallen. Any paper calling the British guy an "explorer" or still parroting OceanGate's claims with complete credulity should feel profound shame. When Elon Musk claims he can build a magic subway tunnel in Florida or Netflix claims every other person on the planet watched Wednesday or something, I understand their lack of skepticism because questioning it too much would eat away at the load-bearing scams of our economy. The fact that they can't break away from that line even for this fly-by-night middle school notebook-margin doodle of a company is genuinely concerning

That titanic is a fine bitch. A century later, and she's still racking up kills from beyond the grave.

(Also it's hilarious that they really tried to push the "noo the navy didn't know they immediately imploded seconds after it happened, they could still be alive" angle like one of them wouldn't instantly tard rage and beat someone to death with that Walmart controller the instant it disconnected, though it'd probably break apart.)

I blame Apple. Compare the inside to this death tube to the Alvin subs Cameron has used to do like 30+ dives to the titanic. This whole minimalist two button bullshit compared to the Alvin's design should have tipped them off something was wrong from the start. Like with Theranos apple style minimalism is a sure sign of a bad idea.

Even if 'twere so, that the news of the sub's implosion was held until now so it could be a distraction from Hunter Biden stuff came up, so what.
We all know Hunter did damn near every bad thing you can think of, and that his dad and others in power were complicit.
Sitting here knowing all that, who among us has the power to do a damn thing about any of it? Don't say "voting" because we all know what that's worth.
So yeah.
I dunno where I was going with this.

Kids, if you want to see the Titanic wreck, there are plenty pictures and video online that can be viewed safely from land.
Better yet, find a video of the Titanic Honor and Glory demo and watch that, or go to their site and download it. It's pretty great and I have never heard of anyone dying while looking at it.

You can't tell me right now OceanGate checked for metal fatigue,
They'd have to given it was made from titanium and carbon fiber. I don't think you can easily diagnose carbon fiber early failure, though.
OceanGate will take advantage of lessons learned during the construction of its carbon-hulled Titan submersible, which was originally built for Titanic journeys. Rush said tests that were conducted at the Deep Ocean Test Facility in Annapolis, Md., revealed that the Titan’s hull “showed signs of cyclic fatigue.” As a result, the hull’s depth rating was reduced to 3,000 meters. The titanic is below 3,000 meters.

The investigation report, if there is one, will be interesting for engineers.
