Wasn't Adel in FFVIII a troon as well?
I forgot who was that thing, looks like a man and the french refer to it as he. Looks like a reverse birdo situation.
The Emperor in FF2 literally wore high heels and had nail polish.

Never forget Kuja with his leather thongKefka was way gayer than that
Monolith considered it a failure of 'old school' game design and completely changed how they made games after that, thats why Xenoblade despite having the same length of cutscenes as Xenosaga 1, more integrates gameplay into the story instead of it being an 'old school' jrpg of cutscene -> battle repeat.Xenosaga really could have used several more trips to the cutting room floor. There's no real characterization of the cast in between the movie length cutscenes and insane amount of exposition. Not even a full length anime season and two VN spinoffs were enough. They clearly have a different definition of what constitutes a video game. Which is a far more interactive medium than the glorified picture books of the visual novel genre, books, and movies.
OG Sephiroth: man of few words, sees Cloud as merely a useful pawn and constantly underestimates the heroes.Never forget Kuja with his leather thong
I prefered xenosaga's skippable movie length exposition dumps over xenoblade's autistic autoclicker approach to JRPG combat. Episode 3 was basically xenogears-lite and episode 1 had the only real charm to the series.Monolith considered it a failure of 'old school' game design and completely changed how they made games after that, thats why Xenoblade despite having the same length of cutscenes as Xenosaga 1, more integrates gameplay into the story instead of it being an 'old school' jrpg of cutscene -> battle repeat.
I await the Kuja spergs to come in here and bitch about Kuja is literally the most chad FF character in existence for making a bitch out of Alexander.Never forget Kuja with his leather thong
I actually respect KujaI await the Kuja spergs to come in here and bitch about Kuja is literally the most chad FF character in existence for making a bitch out of Alexander.
I've never seen a game company with a stronger and more distinct golden era than Square in the 1990s. Between the SNES and PlayStation, they cranked out hit after hit and could do no wrong. I don't think there's a single bad Square game on the SNES, and there are a lot of them.Square is such a strange company. It seems to inspire some of the most mindless consoomerism I’ve ever seen, such that I commonly believe its fans are dissing a game but really they’re complimenting it (“FF13 gets good about 50 hours in”), and also has a generally quite pozzed fanbase. But I suppose that’s no coincidence.
Didn’t work on me. I took a smug sip of espresso after typing this.A whole lot of modern Square consoomers played at least one of their classic games when they were young, which instilled a lifetime of loyalty.
I'm no expert on the subject but IIRC Square was heading that way anyway (with all the horrifically expensive Final Fantasy movies that didn't turn much of a profit) and Enix almost backed out of the deal.A whole lot of modern Square consoomers played at least one of their classic games when they were young, which instilled a lifetime of loyalty. And then Square merged with Enix, and became the kind of company to sell trashy rereleases and mobile junk. Many of their rereleases being mobile junk, for far more than any of it's worth, and as a worse experience than if you just ran the game through an emulator. Still, much like Apple, they came from such a strong pedigree that it'll take an entire generation that grew up with them to die off before people quit buying their detritus.
Artplay, the guys that made the Bloodstained games. Not sure how many of them are Konami, but the head guy is. You could also count Kojima Productions as ex Konami since he took more than just his team with him.I wouldn't be surprised if similar things happened to Konami but I'm only aware of Treasure.
Almost every other Nintendo second and first party studios is made up or founded by ex Square soft staff. Nintendo subsidiary ND Cube was founded by ex-staff of Hudson Soft (which Konami bought out), and most of the former Team Silent (the creative team behind Silent Hill) ended up working for Nintendo in some capacity.I'm no expert on the subject but IIRC Square was heading that way anyway (with all the horrifically expensive Final Fantasy movies that didn't turn much of a profit) and Enix almost backed out of the deal.
If you know where to look, you'll find tons of game companies that are defectors from Square. AlphaDream, Brownie Brown, Monolith, essentially the entire Love-de-Lic family tree.

I'm impressed that for all people pointing out much more flamboyant examples from prior games no-one has posted images. Or has the thread got an unofficial "minimal images that look like a technicolour bondage session" rule?
Yeah maybe, but I'm sure they'll take another deal with the devil from EGS and delay the Steam release by a whole year, and also never release it on GOG.This will speed up that PC release I bet.
Purposely sabotage it then complain that it underperforms. Kingdom Hearts is still on EGS and is seemingly permanently exclusive, and I know a bunch of people that will only buy it if it goes to Steam.Yeah maybe, but I'm sure they'll take another deal with the devil from EGS and delay the Steam release by a whole year, and also never release it on GOG.
