Oh fucking hell. I assume unis in the states have external examiners that check the levels of their courses? To ensure at least some standards are guaranteed, it's done over here though it's clearly not a great system given how much 1sts have been diluted.
Eh, I dunno, personally I'm willing to believe that Tony was at one point sufficiently smart and hard-working to get a decent grade at university. The past decade has seen plenty of book-smart people turn their brains off, make outlandish statements, and denounce anyone who disagrees as a nazi.

And for Tony in particular, to misquote Upton Sinclair, "it is difficult to get a man to understand something when his sexual fetish depends on his not understanding it."

confimmediately.
OT but wtf autocorrect? making me look more retarded than I am.

Can see Tony having been hard working, I just find it hard to reconcile a high grade with how mediocre he is now cos usually that requires a level of intelligence that can't be compensated no matter how much effort you put in. I guess it was sociology, which I've never studied but am adamant is not a real subject.

Talking points like this one. The harm is even worse in Tony's case. His brain developed as evidenced by LSU, but then appears to have atrophied around the time he decided to chop his dick off and skin walk as his 8 year old neighbor.

I watched a few minutes of the hearing this morning. The official GOP position is that there is no legal right to transition and definitely no legal right for a parent to transition a child.

The official position of the Democrats mirrors Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson with the ranking member of the Committee asserting that members of congress are not biologists and therefore, they cannot possibly have legitimate criticisms of gender and gender affirming care.

This is an astonishing position for the democrats to take because "There are 19 physicians in the 118th Congress, of which 15 serve in the House and 4 serve in the Senate." (Of the 19 physicians, 4 are democrats and 15 are republicans).

The tony trope is actually a bit of a thing here in the south that I’ve noticed. (Big fish in a little pond) People who were gifted as children or excelled in academic settings are praised and bathed in their “brilliance” while young and they find in the real world that you can’t coast on As, you have to apply intuition, repetition, learning as you go. Things that can’t be taught in school and only come from lived experience. It’s a bit jarring to go from knowing what to expect in a school setting and mastering that, to being thrown out of the nest and finding that the world isn’t as predictable, nor will the world be as impressed with your thinkin meats as your mother. As they get older and venture into the real world a lot of the “gifted kids” struggle to cope with the drastic difference and turn to drugs and alcohol, dumbing themselves down over time, many still speaking fondly of their childhood achievements.

Tony is that trope in spades and has the added “benefit” of unnatural hormones fucking up his body and brain chemistry. He loves talking about his meager beginning, the product of two carnies or whatever who was too smart for his home town and made his great escape into the great wide open. Regular Tony couldn’t maintain the praise of his childhood in the regular world but Big Fish Erin in the trans pond puts him right back in that familiar comfortable place: beating the odds and receiving praise. I believe Tony still retains his cunning, he’s smart enough to know where to insert himself and how to adapt so that the praise continues.

it certainly takes a level of cunning to be as manipulative he is, getting yourself on tv and in front of lawmakers certainly takes something. i guess i wish he'd apply it to some of his tweets but when his audience are so dumb they won't call him out on it, or he knows he can call anyone who does a bigot, he doesn't need to.

really like your analysis. i'm grateful i was kinda intelligent at school then went to uni and discovered i'm actually pretty fucking dumb, so have never been a big fish in any sort of pond. it must be jarring and certainly nurtures any innate narcissistic tendencies. i guess some people rise above it when they hit reality, and realise their talents as kids aren't going to support them through life. and some, like tony, never stop self aggrandising and like you say hit on some scheme to continue getting praise without really putting any effort in.

"We're not experts in X so we can't regulate X" is an interesting position for people who are nominally representing their constituents to take! (The composition of the chamber aside.) Perhaps the Democrats will carry this through into the 2024 election and run on a platform of abolishing democracy and instituting a technocracy? Even under conservative definitions, we've had representative democracy for several hundred years, if only we had come up with some way for elected representatives to gather information from subject matter experts.

I'm sure this was the case for Tony. He wrote on his teenage Livejournal about being "gifted" and attending a selective school (LSMSA). Previously:
Eventually, Tony went to the Louisiana School of Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA), a public (state, for my fellow Britbongs) boarding school. On his Livejournal profile, Tony was enthusiastic about the school and the new lease on life it had given him. […] Ever modest, Tony has described LSMSA as for "gifted/talented" students. Away from the knuckle-dragging bullies of their old schools, they can flourish. Of course Tony now thinks that this means they were all "eggs"
This is just armchair psychologizing on my part, but I wonder if Tony's time at LSMSA gave him a bit of former gifted-kid syndrome. He seems to relish being looked up to as a subject matter expert, whether that subject matter is drugs, election predictions, or "legislative research", but is obviously too lazy to put in the actual work necessary to actually know what he's talking about, so he fits the profile to a T.

His brain developed as evidenced by LSU, but then appears to have atrophied around the time he decided to chop his dick off and skin walk as his 8 year old neighbor.
I disagree. The copious drug use did a number on his brain cells sooner than when he enlisted to become a late-term eunuch. Even so, he is a bit over 100 years late to wield any social power in Imperial China. Now he just has a severed penis to show for it.

I'm not sure what is more amusing. Tony's deranged babbling about "misinformation" which he is spreading himself or his insane delusion that he "corrected" anything.

Under "Myth #1" Tony misrepresents the Swedish study and its progeny for the umpteenth time.

Under "Myth #2" Tony makes this delusional claim which is contradicted by nearly all available evidence.

"This myth revolves around two fallacies. Firstly, the notion that being transgender is a matter of choice, and secondly, the misconception that transitioning is detrimental to health. In reality, neither of these claims holds true. There is no evidence supporting the idea that being transgender is a voluntary decision; gender identity is an intrinsic aspect of a person. Furthermore, transitioning is far from unhealthy; in fact, it serves as a life-saving intervention for transgender youth who genuinely require it."

This nonsense is all contrary to findings by Jack Turban.

Under "Myth #3" Tony hand waves away the "full faith and credit clause" and Troxell constitutional defects in troon sanctuary state laws.

Under "Myth #4" Tony dismisses "social contagion" as a hoax despite the explosion of troons over the last 10 years.

Under "Myth #5" Tony denies that any genital surgery is done on children at all in the US despite Blair Peters recent admission that child genital surgery makes up the bulk of his practice.

Five Myths In The House Anti-Trans Hearing Against Gender Affirming Care

In sum, Tony did not "correct" anything. Instead, he doubled down on his delusions that are contradicted by troon friendly experts on his own side and he ramped up his own public gaslighting campaign.

Has there been a "major pro-trans hearing" in the House before?

Tony has a very bizarre persistent delusion that he is "correcting" people or "setting them straight." This seems to be, in my view, part of his deeply held narcissistic need to be viewed as an authority. Tony feels that people are not allowed to have "the wrong opinions" about his mental illness and sexual fetishes.

As well as wanting to be viewed as an authority, I think he needs control over people. To the extent he wants to control what they think.

He is the arbiter of allowed thoughts.

His preying on younger men also suggests a desire to control, though he's obviously fuming he has to cos it turned out he can't control lesbians swiping on apps. I don't think it's a coincidence his entire polycule is much younger.

He must be absolutely exhausting to be around when he's not lovebombing new victims.

I love how this derailed a little into an analysis of Tony's speech impediment. I'm glad it's not just me that finds it weird. Reminds me of that "Plane'arium" South Park episode, maybe he has a rare bone disease that causes him to pronounce it like a fucking spastic.

The end of "transgender" doesn't sound particularly strange to me, but only because the whole word sounds strange ("trunsgendur").

It is like he is putting on a pseudo Valley Girl accent with vocal fry in order to sound "feminine," which results in him overdoing the final "r", but at the same time he doesn't open his mouth enough to enunciate (presumably to hide his teeth) and that messes up the sound.

So Tony's speech is going through two separate distortion filters whenever he talks: the "girl" filter, and the "hiding teeth" filter. Not great news for a public speaking career, but then again he doesn't have much competition.

Regarding this and the other comments about why Tony is a retard now: I don't think he has actually gotten dumber. I think I have sperged here before about this, but I think Tony is actually pretty smart, he is just not quite as smart as he thinks he is. Remember this is the person who has talked openly about inventing personalities, and regularly visited (visits?) KiwiFarms and Ovarit thinking he is keeping one step ahead of his enemies.

The apparent retardation he is showing is just an attempt to manipulate and talk down to his followers. He knows enough about statistics and science to realize when he is talking bullshit, but he counts on the people around him being too dumb to notice.

Unfortunately, when it comes to his followers, he has judged correctly. They are either dumb, uninformed, or willing to pretend in order to fit in. In other words, he finally found a group of retards he could talk down to indefinitely.

checked in on our prolific tweeter, was wondering if any of our legal-minded members could comment on the veracity of this statement:

This is the latest in a string of legal victories for LGBTQ+ people:
- 4 gender affirming care bans overturned
- 3 drag bans reversed
- 1 sports ban reversed
- Teacher misgendering right not upheld
- Natalie Ryan victories in Disc golf
- Wisconsin school bathroom ban blocked

quoted from tony's tweet, archived here: https://ghostarchive.org/archive/CgS5P

specifically, are these all at state level and so beholden to federal laws if relevant ones are passed? how is a sporting victory a legal victory? surely he means the sports ban so is double counting? or the thing where entire state-level tournaments were cancelled cos they didn't want troons violently disrupting them?

he also retweed someone saying "trans people need action like this, desperately" regarding a tweet about someone interrupting congress regarding the climate crisis. i don't care if you disagree that that's an urgent matter, i'm sure that we can all agree that the possibility of us all dying of hunger/thirst/heat is not comparable to a few perverts not being able to involve the rest of society in them getting their rocks off. in all areas, trans people most effected, clearly.

These should be only short term or temporary "wins" for the alphabet mafia. These excerpts from the Sixth Circuit decision on the Tennessee and Kentucky bans illustrate why.

I think there was a title IX case where the ban on troons in women's sports was overturned. That'll go to federal court and the troons will likely lose. I think the court will properly recognize that sex means sex.

I don't think the troons will win on the medical questions, but the court will probably make it a state's rights issue. (If WPATH can't be overruled by a state department of health within their state, then what purpose do state departments of health serve in the first place?)

I think the rainbow brigade has a good chance to win with the drag bans unless they're very carefully written. First amendment reasons.

No clue about the rest.

Oh, fren, either he learned to do things properly or LSU has the worst Sociology department on Earth:

It should be known that the education system is so bad in Louisiana (grade school through college) that anyone with *any* spare money sends their kids to private school and if you have a 4.0 the state will literally pay you to stay in-state to go to college. I knew someone who was offered a free ride plus thousands of dollars a year to go to LSU but still chose to go out of state because her family could afford it.

I wouldn't read too much into the selective-school thing. I'm not in the US, but I went to a selective school (sorry for powerlevel) and there were quite a few people there who weren't that smart at all, but attended private training colleges to prepare for the entrance test and then worked their arses off to partly compensate. I'd say that selective-school attendance (on its face) is indicative more of a propensity/willingness to study than it is of real intelligence. And Tony is a social climber, so he'd have fit that mould, which I think gels with what g. multiforme said in the third bit of quoted text.
